The computer is very clean. I suspect the install process and the interface.
Is it a USB interface?

No house call? Darn!

You guys are helping me a whole lot. I'm learning new things by the second.

But if you ever get to East Texas, stop by for some tea. That goes for you too ken.

No, but it can't be too hard. Should I do that?

Good one, it must seem like that to her. If you've never learned, things(especially computers)can be very frustrating.

Let me kind of butt out of this ...ProudVet77 is giving you some good help, and you really kind of need to work with just a few people, otherwise things get all tangled up....I saw you had 512 Mbyte RAM so that is good also...

Okay.

D has 0 fragments.

C has this:

Diskeeper has completed a defragmentation run on this volume and there remain 149 fragmented files and/or directories and 458 excess fragments. (There were 8176 excess fragments before the defragmentation run, and now there are 94% less.)

The average number of fragments per file is 1.00.

On average, you have 0% excess fragments per file on this volume. This is a slightly fragmented volume. You should schedule Diskeeper to run at least once a day (if you haven't already done so) to keep fragmentation at a low level.

Well if you can't install on D then all the easy solutions will not work and I am sure you are in good hands with proudVet. I will be away from my computer for a few hours, and will help if you still need help. But I've still got my fingers crossed that installing on D (or a cleaned up C) will work.

"diskeeper lite"
It was bought by Microsoft and has been on every operating system since windows 2000. It does it's job. Not great not bad.
There are a lot of ways of making your disk system a lot faster, and defraging is only 25% of it. Just addding a second spindle for log files it worth a ton.
