You got that one completely right: " They are probably not above burning a few Korans to score points." After all, Muslims seem to have know problems with desecrating their own places of worship by blowing up fellow Mooslums in their mosquequeraids.

I do think this is a hate crime. I "hate" that there is not more "crime" like this.

"Al-Qatami said the best way police can help stop hate crimes against Muslims is to treat all religions equally."

Umm, hello..Al-Salami, when have muslims EVER treated all religions equally? What a freakin' hypocrite.

Probably did it themselves, Pappy.

Yep.

Sign me up!

Hmmm...now that I think about it, maybe I'll order a cord of koran's this coming winter instead of seasoned wood.

Burning that book ourselves is a good idea. Wonder what would happen if that took place? The ACLU would be all over it. They allow religion to take place in Gitmo with these terrorist but you better not try the same thing here in the states.

More likely that it would be an "artist" that would submerge it in blood & urine, and call it art, while demanding taxpayer dollars to do it.

burning someone's holy book is wrong, wrong, wrong."

Yes it is. I would never burn someone else's holy book, but if I buy a koran and feel like burning it, I'm only guilty of burning a book.

"Ethnic Intimidation, the most common Hate Crime".

I can't believe it but I have to agree with Pappy here. (we have had some knock down debates on a few civil war threads - all cordial though, in the spirit of debate.) It's similar to cross burning. Perfectly legal if someone wants to burn a cross in a meadow somewhere. If, however, they burn it in the front yard of an African-American church it's considered a crime of intimidation.

"Blacksburg police say they do not have any leads on who left the burned religious books, but they are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. "

Since when did it become a crime to burn the Koran? If burning the flag isn't a crime then burning a Koran isn't either. Blacksburg police are idiots.

If have no real desire to burn Korans but if anyone is arrested for this I will buy a truck load of them and burn them on the steps of the capital building.

"I think that we all need to start publicly burning the damn book."

I'm with you!

Which completely ignores the fact that "Ethnics" are not involved here.

It is the religion, not ethnic heritage or skin color, that is worthy of contempt.

yes, buying a person's holy book and burning it in private is only burning a book. leaving the remnants to offend a community is a different story. i wouldn't want anyone to do that to a Bible. "do unto others" and all that...

Yes. At the very least the evil tome incinerater should get a ticket for littering.
