Is Internment on the Table?

Posted on 07/21/2005 4:58:24 PM PDT by faithincowboys

How do prevent the stop-n-go jihad that is currently going on in London from happening here? Should we have an El Al if-you're-a-Muslim-you-don't-ride standard for our planes and trains?

At the very least will those traveling on subways in this country have to carry their things in mesh, see-through carry bags like they do in many public high schools-- in reaction to Columbine-- in this Country?

Clearly, their are many terror cells, native and foreign born , in this country. Monitoring mosques, forbidding muslims entry into certain engineering programs at our universities, massive deportations of problem muslims and ,gasp, a plan for internment should be prepared by a guy like John Pointdexter for implementaion if necessary.

Internment is an option and the POTUS should seal the borders stat.

Internment was actually ruled constitutional in Korematsu v. US. It can be a justifiable military action.

Internment was always Constitutional. Korematsu was about Relocation which came about with Executive Order 9066.

And, until we seal the borders, internment won't help anyway. I've told the story here before of "HR's Mom and the Nazi Spy", but basically, during WWII, a very tall, blond, blue-eyed, square-jawed young man appeared at my grandma's door on the ranch they lived on near Laredo, asking for food and wanting to know where he was. My mom was very little and was clinging to the back of my grandma's skirt as she stood in the door. It was Spring, and this guy had on a winter coat beneath which he was concealing a large, boxy-shaped thing. He spoke even better Spanish than my grandmother (not an easy accomplishment) and pulled out a thick wad of American currency as he asked for food (nobody that ever stopped at her door had that kind of money). She put a biscuit and some food on a plate and pushed it out the door to him and said "no charge, just go away". When my grandpa got home from cowboying that evening, she told him about it. Later (after dark) some little boys came by to tell my grandpa they'd seen a strange man who'd built a fire in an old ruined frame of a barn and they said he was speaking a strange language into a boxy radio. My grandpa looked at my grandma and said, "I'm going to tell some of the other vaqueros (cowboys). I'll be back later." When he got home much later that night, he wouldn't talk about it except to say that they'd "taken care of it".

"America isn't an end in itself; it's a means to an end. The end is freedom."

I understand your point, but if a few nukes go off in cities, freedom is pretty seriesly at risk. Enough go off and it won't survive.

IMO, we have no alternative to eradication of Islamic terror to avoid that fate. And it needs to happen quickly.

I'd rather take victory off the table than the Constitution. Seriously.

Taking victory off the table means the Constitution is toast anyway. Kindly count me out of your surrender!

The question is: would you prefer we trash the Constitution temporarily in order to preserve the nation, or allow the Islamonazis to trash it permanently when they finally get us in a position from which we can't escape?

Besides, who says roundups and detainment camps are unconstitutional? Not the Supreme Court. "It should be noted, to begin with, that all legal restrictions which curtail the civil rights of a single racial group are immediately suspect. That is not to say that all such restrictions are unconstitutional. It is to say that courts must subject them to the most rigid scrutiny. Pressing public necessity may sometimes justify the existence of such restrictions; racial antagonism never can" [Supreme Court Associate Justice Hugo Black, Korematsu v. U.S., 323 U.S. 214 (1944)]. Even if they are contrary to the Constitution, in a real emergency all bets are likely to be off. If (God forbid) the terrorists someday succeed in hitting us with a WMD, you may be surprised at the steps the federal government can take to ensure the survival of the nation -- court decisions be damned. As Supreme Court Associate Justice Robert Jackson pointed out in Terminello v. City of Chicago (1949), "if the Court does not temper its doctrinaire logic with a little practical wisdom, it will convert the constitutional Bill of Rights into a suicide pact".

Congratulations on the recent addition to your family, by the way, and may God bless you and yours.

Better option than internment. If you commit a terrorist act, your whole family ,cousins ,neighbors within a square mile will be arrested. All men and women 10- 99 years will be jailed. In due time, the ones we determine safe will loise their citenship and be deported to their countries of origin. The younger ones will be sent to Catholic school for conversion to Chrisianity.

All property will be confiscated abd handed over to the victums

that'll stop them

"Ah, so it's your determination that all Muslims are Murderers, simply on the basis of their Religion...?"

Victor Davis Hanson's response:

"Thousands of innocent civilians such as van Gogh have been murdered by Islamic extremists — in Darfur, Gaza, India, Israel, Lebanon, London, Madrid, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States. The carnage gives credence to the adage that while the vast majority of Muslims are not terrorists, the vast majority of global terrorists most certainly are Muslims.

well, he was SOME kind of alien--the first clue was the wool coat in spring in Laredo. I don't think anyone in Laredo even owns a coat.

Of course they're the same ~ just check out Spanish history ~ note the 500 years it was a Moslem state, and there's your answer.

There is a lot of Indian blood (Mayan, Inca, etc.) in Central Americans and Mexicans, as well as European Spanish. So while it's true that there are similarities, they are not quite the same.
