H.O.T. Chapter of FR Heading Back to Crawford (Special 8/17 PM Update pending)

The Heart of Texas Chapter is planning a return to Crawford on Saturday, August 27. Our purpose this time will be to team up with the Move America Forward Caravan, which will originate in California, and pick up supporters from across the country. More can be found about Move America Forward here:MAF

We hope that with this much advance notice, more Freepers will be able to join us this time.

I have spent most of the day trying to contact someone at MAF, but they are so busy they haven't gotten back to me yet. However, it shouldn't be hard to notice a caravan of buses and cars in Crawford, so we will be able to jump in with them with no problem.

I spoke with Police Chief Donnie today, and he really seemed happy to hear that we were coming back. We won't need a permit this time, as we will be a tag on to the MAF permit.

Everyone with suggestions for signs, tactics, etc. please chime in. This will be another Support the Troops Rally--but MAF will probably get in a little Sheehan bashing--which is fine with me!

I did read somewhere that this guy made the offer of the use of his land as a way to alleviate some of the problems this group was creating by being set up where they were. He isn't really pro-sheehan or anti-bush,I think he was just doing what he could to help try to take some of the pressure off the community.

If you've ever been in a situation or an an area where the media has focused it attention you know what a nightmare it can be. sheehan's crew behave like a bunch of @$$-holes (watch this little movie to see what I mean), but those media folks can be even worse. MUCH worse, in fact! For folks who just caught in the path of their mayhem life gets damned uncomfortable for no legitimate or justifiable reason.

I do think this fella was just trying to help ~ not help sheehan ~ help remedy a problem without escalating it.

I agree with you. A "protest" in Texas is not like one in DC. They won't put up with it.

LtCol, USMC.

Yes, there are people on liberty in certain military uniforms. In general, there is no definitive answer because regulations differ among the service branches. The working uniform of the day for pilots is an issued flight suit, and wearing one outside of a vehicle off-base is prohibited. Rules are more lenient while wearing more of a dress-type uniform or alphas and not cammies. We've certainly worn Ball attire to restaurants, etc.

Under no circumstances that I am aware of would any member of the service in any branch be permitted to rally or protest in any official military uniform. Wearing a military uniform and insignia is a privilege given to someone who has earned the right to wear one. And wearing one makes an individual a representative of that branch of the military. The military does not endorse rallys or protests, etc.

That's for sure and for certain.

I guess I'm not surprised that the Marines have stuck closer to the "old ways". Army and Air Force allow wear of BDU's and flight suits in restaurants, gas stations and convenience stores, etc. Their rule is one of appropriateness. You shouldn't wear BDU's to a place where everyone else wears coats and ties, but you might do so where many where "business casual" attire, and there's no problem at all wearing them where civilians are wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip flops, and even the staff is wearing jeans and T-shirts.

If he is a former Marine Colonel

Make that "Corporal". It was a little late when I read/wrote that. :)

Last night, Chrissy Matthews had on an Iraqi woman, who is down in Crawford with the pro-troops protesters...when she couldn't understand his questions, or didn't answer his questions fast enough...(remember she is Iraqi, and spoke English, but not perfectly)...he YELLED AT HER...He was insulting to her when she said that the Iraqi people appreciate America, and want our help...

He jumped down her throat on that comment, asking her HOW LONG she expects Americans to be over there spending OUR money and stuff...she said she didn't know..

and he said "yeah, that is the problem, no one know..and 10 years is way too long"

I saw the portion of Hardball. As soon as Matthew's realized she didn't speak good English and had a hard time understanding his speedy slurry questions, he became condecending to her and treated her like a child.

His incessant questioning of her along the lines of "who are we fighting, how long is it going to last" was ignorant and cruel of him.

Fortunately, it was him who came out looking like a fool.

A few days later he had on Melanie Morgan on offsite Matthew's shill Gulf War 1 Veterans Paul Rieckhoff.

Rieckhoff's only point (false of course) was that Melanie and the other talk show hosts were softies that didn't leave the Green Zone and were fed propaganda from the Troops to which they talked.

When it was her turn, she refuted everything he said and then he started talking over her (naturally.)

The funny thing was when she started talking (in her time to talk) he yelled at her for talking over him! LOL, when HE was interrupting him. Chris naturally let him get away with it for a while.

Back to the Iraqi woman, again as you stated he asked her how long the war would last. She gave a good answer; that Iraq needed to be stabilized and their own Military needed to be ready. Of course that was when Chris said his 10 year statement. What a putz.

Melanie Morgan on Hardball

Matthews is so lame, he said KSFO is 570, when it is 560 radio SF.

I don't know what is going on with him lately...

He has been on like 1-2 days a week and then has David Gregory or Norah O'Donnell...

If he was gone all of the time, I would think vacation, but it is like 2 days on, 3 off, 1 on 2 off...weird!

That's excellent. Be sure and cover that adorable child with sunscreen, and put a hat on him! He looks as if he would burn very easily.

Basil,
Can some of freep the entry to this farmer's ranch? I want to plop myself in the ditch with an arrow pointing to his ranch with the word "Traitor to the military" on it?

Just kidding...Seriously, it would be truthful.

How about a sign that says:

Please mom...I volunteered.
Don't dishonor my fellow soldiers or me.

Casey

I asked a FR soldier with liberal parents. He said he would want us to be nice to his mom if something happened to him and she acted this way because she's just "misdirected" Would Casey Sheehan want us to just ignore her and be nice to his mom? I don't know.

I will only be nice to Casey...not the mom.

Casey deserves it; she doesn't.
