....Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.

There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!

If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.

Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.

Get To Know Jesus

In his book The Call, Os Guinness tells a story about Arthur Burns, chairman of the US Federal Reserve Board during the 1970s. Burns, who was Jewish, became part of a Bible study held at the White House at that time. One day, those in the group listened in surprise as Burns prayed, "O God, may the day come when all Jews will come to know Jesus." But an even bigger surprise came when he prayed for the time "when all Christians will come to know Jesus."

Burns hit on a profound truth we all need to wrestle with. Even if we claim the name of Jesus Christ, it may not be evident to others that we really know Him. Do we have a personal relationship with Him? If so, are we striving, praying, and working to know Jesus more intimately each day?

Peter, a man who knew Jesus well, said that "the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord" will bring us multiplied "grace and peace" (2 Peter 1:2). Knowing Jesus gives us "all things that pertain to life and godliness" (v.3). And knowledge of Jesus will help us develop character traits that show the world that we are connected to Him (vv.5-8).

Can you and I honestly say, "I know Jesus better today than I did yesterday"? —Dave Branon

Final Design Announced
The design for the permanent Memorial for Flight 93 was announced on September 7, 2005 amid overwhelming support . .

So the mark of the Jihadists will forever emblazon our landscape. Is it time to cry for America yet...???????????? This design seems to be a fitting memorial for the Muslims who died aboard Flt 93. The hijackers whose ashes are fused into the shale with those of their victims, of all the shapes, in all of geometry, they pick the symbol of Muslim power, THE CRESCENT!!!

Why not a monument of the passengers beating the crap out of the hijackers?

"When it comes to a memorial, all mankind sympathizes," he said." The idea of the Crescent of Embrace, Murdoch said, is to be a gesture of healing and bonding.

Muslims didn't/don't sympathize - THEY consider this to have been a great victory!

This is like making a holocaust memorial in the shape of a swastika. Absolutely disgusting. I think is a slap in the face of every solider that is fighting terrorism now. And a shameful way to honor those that have died in this fight.

Recognize it for what it is....

A commemoration for those who bravely died in their fight to expand islam!

Fouad El Bayly, leader of the Islamic Center of Johnstown, said the crescent isn't a holy symbol, but one identified with the lunar Muslim calendar.

I know you are a corporate sponsor to the National Parks Foundation.

 

I am particularly concerned about the symbology of the Islamic / Muslim Crescent. Inclusion of that symbology makes this memorial a symbol of celebration for terrorists everywhere!

 

The Flight 93 Memorial is about to be approved and work will begin soon.

 

The design includes symbology that is wholly inappropriate. From above, the design is in the form of a Islamic / Muslim Crescent.

 

Does it really face Mecca?

 

Yes, it does - A Muslim just checked it out himself:

 

1) A Muslim went to the memorial website, and looked at the "winning" plan, which has a compass orientation on it. The crescent points just below North East.

 

2) A Muslim then went to a Mecca-Finding (qiblam) website. To pray to Mecca, aim just below North East.

 

The designers had to work the land plan to get that orientation.

 

THIS IS INSANE

 

It is for all passengers and crew killed that day ...AND for OUR Country!
There should be NO recognition of any type, shape or form, for the terrorists.

 

Request you read the link above. There are many comments by Citizens concerning their concern about sullying The Heroes of Flight 93, September 11, 2001.

I do plan on contacting my elected people about the Flight 93 Memorial.....right after I finish chewing my way through the school district office in the morning.

It seems we have a few people in the superintendent's office, including one of the assistant supers that doesn't understand No Child Left Behind means the smart kids as well.

We are dealing with the schools here too..
My son (11th grade) was home schooled last year and the school doesn't want to let him in at the 11th grade level.
We were forced to comply with NYState education law, submit reports blah, blah. blah...

Now they want him to take 8 tests?!!
I called a state rep who knows me very well and knows that I will rip a new one into the school if they don't resolve this pronto.

Yes schools are frustrating.
I should say Mrs Mayor is dealing with it, she has much more patience than I.

I will just get elected and straighten out some of the BS..
