Just the latest article

Critics charge delay in vote counting is illegal

http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050915/1013261.asp

The actions of the Board of Elections are not only unfair, they're against the law, several are charging.

"Everything they've done is illegal," said Leonard A. Roberto, founder of the group Primary Challenge, which is awaiting results of three key Erie County Legislature races. "They have committed a felony, and they need to be held accountable."

Roberto cited laws stipulating that votes must be counted at polling places. A decision to have county sheriff's deputies haul the lock boxes to the downtown Board of Elections after the polls closed was improper, Roberto argued.

Here's one of the Finest, maybe not FR's Finest, the Finest none the less.

(Also posted at The FReeper Canteen)

Here's a trooper who's passed on to his reward. And boy did he have to wait a long time.

We're delighted you have decided to join an even BIGGER Family - The Finest Family!

Most of us were AWOL today - blame it on Katrina - Ophelia - President's speech - Roberts Hearings by the Senate committee - work - play - shopping - cleaning - all those pesky little things that get in the way of Freeping..:))

You are a most welcome addition to our God & Country & Family-loving group.

Our most important common denominator is being here to honor and pray for our military around the world.
Many of us are veterans, or related to military/veterans.

Many days right now will be in a loose "free fall" mode, 2 hostesses going to part-time participation yesterday.

It is a great place to share - vent - stand on a soap box - swap recipes, talk about movies, plans for outside activities/vacations, etc. - and we always pray for our Leaders - one another, and any needs...

Welcome!!

Thank you for bringing this toour attention, El Gato, and providing a link to the article.

"The Buffalo Soldiers won 20 Medals of Honor, more than any other regiment. They also helped lay hundreds of miles of roads and telegraph lines, protected stagecoaches, were involved in the military actions against the Apache chiefs Victorio and Geronimo and fought bravely in Cuba at the side of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War."

=====================================

It says he enlisted at age 16, and also participated in WWII in his 40's, on Saipan in the Pacific.

We in America owe so much to so many selfless persons - -

"I Hurt For You"

Read:
1 Corinthians 12:12-27

If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. —1 Corinthians 12:26

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 19-21

cover When my sons were young, one of them stubbed his toe and grimaced with pain. Seeing him trying bravely to bear the agony of those moments, I said, "Son, I'm truly sorry. My toe hurts for you."

Lifting his head, he looked at me and responded, "Dad, your toe doesn't really hurt, does it?"

No, I didn't sense any physical pangs, yet I did share his suffering. I even wished his ache could somehow be transferred to my body.

The apostle Paul said that all believers in Christ are part of "one body" (1 Corinthians 12:13). And if one part suffers, "all the members suffer with it" (v.26).

Are you grieved when a brother or sister in Christ is in trouble? Does it bother you when a believer stumbles into sin and is brought under the chastening hand of the Lord? Do you experience sorrow of heart when a child of God is passing through the deep waters of affliction and trial? If not, ask the Lord right now to help you become the kind of person who can share the heartache of others and sympathize with them.

Yes, to every Christian we meet who is in some kind of distress, we should be ready to say from our heart, "I hurt for you." —Richard De Haan

The hurting ones need sympathy,
They need to know we're there;
A quiet word, a tender touch
Assures them that we care. —D. De Haan

Empathy = your pain in my heart.
