I'm still staying in place in my 2-1/2 floor leeward-side apartment about 100 ft South of Clear Creek. My girlfriend's ill mother (in Clear Lake - 1 mi. North of Clear Lake) won't leave, and I'd be a real heal to bug out and leave them behind.

If she wises up that a storm surge will wash them out, I'll be heading out with them (they need someone to drive a second car to evacuate their numerous pets. (/frustration)

Additionally, I heard the local weather guy say that once the storm passed us and moved up into to Oklahoma it will bounce back down on us the follow day ~ so very high rain falls and flooding should be anticipated.

West Houston. Roughly I-10 & the Beltway 8. My family and I will be staying, but making the necessary provisions.

If we go, we'll head for Brenham.

Protect those Blue Bell cows. It would be a national calamity if we couldn't get our Blue Bell Pralines-n-Cream.

I'm riding it out in northern Fort Bend County west of Houston. I'm basically screwed. The wife has to work at the nearby hospital. It is impossible to board up my house and I couldn't even if it was possible. There's no plywood to be found.

People are using cheap panelling as a substitute which has no chance of success.

There really isn't a safe room in the house. Even the bathrooms have windows. We will be lucky if we get power restored in a week assuming the roof stays on, so it may be quite awhile before I check back in.

Stay safe, everyone.

I thought those things kept on going. They were their own weathermaker.

I can't imagine a high pressure system strong enough to push this baby around.

We plan for my wife to take her ailing mother to Austin (she lives with us) and the dog and me will ride it out here in Victoria, Texas. The oldtimers who were here for Carla in 1961 are staying for the most part. But no final decision until Thursday AM. Right now I'm finding too many strike maps with Port O'Connor, Port Lavaca and Rockport as landfall. That's a little close for comfort. See ya' on the other side of this.

You're at ground zero. You really should evacuate somewhere. I've got room up here, if you reconsider. And my dogs would love to meet your dog.

I too am staying in Sugar Land. My wife, daughter and mother in law who lives nearby, along with my wife's younger sister and her husband are leaving for Ft Worth tomorrow morning. They just found three rooms at one place so there must be others in the area.

I'm staying and my 22 year old son insists he is staying with me, so I may have to drug him and load him in the car. I have everything I will need for about ten days, other than power. If the roof goes, well it has been nice knowing y'all.

Good luck all y'all.........

Got ice??

Not yet, but I've broken out the big hunting cooler and will be
emptying out the ice machine here at work on Friday afternoon.

It's bad form to drink hot beer during a hurricane.
