DELAY [Mark R. Levin] Here's my first take on this indictment (I've only read the indictment and nothing more for now): The indictment is three pages in length. Other than a statement that "one or more" of 3 individuals, including Tom DeLay, entered into an illegal conspiracy, I can't find a single sentence tying Tom DeLay to a crime. That is, there's not a single sentence tying DeLay to the contribution. The indictment describes the alleged conduct of two other individuals, but nothing about DeLay. You would think if Ronnie Earle had even a thin reed of testimony linking DeLay to the contribution, it would have been noted in the indictment to justify the grand jury's action. Moreover, not only is there no information about DeLay committing acts in furtherance of a conspiracy, there's no information about DeLay entering into a conspiracy. I honestly believe that unless there's more, this is an egregious abuse of prosecutorial power. It's a disgrace. I understand that not everything has to be contained in an indictment, but how about something! Posted at 01:58 PM
I'm not an idealist. Political assassination is just tricks of the trade and both parties engage in it. It's a dirty business overall and rather unbecoming but if you stop to consider the pandering, slandering and spin the established political parties engage in to hold power why would you think that only democrats engage in such behavior?
Fair ain't got nothing to do with it.

Really? Republicans act the same way? This is your contention?
Cool. Then I suppose you can step out of your tired rhetoric and provide a name right now of a ranking Democrat being indicted on fimsy charges by a Republican on a witchhunt.
Give me the name right now.
I shed no tears for DeLay. He likes to play hardball and what he got is what one should expect in backroom politics. This isn't about right vs. wrong, it's all about politics which onto itself is bad business.
There's nothing innocent about Tom DeLay and the rest of his kind. They play rough and tumble and do what they have to to stay in power. Been going on since the dawn of time and it won't change.
Wanna talk about my mother next?

"It's good to hear that, I have alot of respect for Mark Levin, but if Tom De Lay did something wrong I think he should be treated like anyone else."
You mean like Sandy Berger?
Seems to me, this is just a ploy to remove him from his leadership position, without actually having to have any evidence of ANY criminal activity!
If I were DeLay, I'd demand a VERY speedy trial and DEMAND specific charges be filed in order to properly mount a defense!
Make Ronnie put up or shut up like he was forced in KBH's indictment!
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
Agreed.
Furthermore, if I see another Republican back down and cower to the Dems when they are getting away with illegal activity, slander, lies, hate speech, character assassination, election fraud and in this case, by all accounts seems as another Rush Limbaugh witch hunt, I'm gonna call every member of congress and yell.
I am so sick of us Pubs sticking our most conservative members in the back when they need us. Sick of it. The Dems stand by their criminals for God's sake. We can't even stand by our innocent people.
Let's go for it.
Membership in the party is not a prerequisite for participating in this forum, Comrade.
Doing what I think is best?????? HA HA HA. That's a laugh. Seeing as he is one of the top dogs in the part of the government that is responsible for budgets and spending and the results that we have with respect to deficits, he's sold conservatives out with the size of the budgets and amount of pork.
The MSM will love it though. Plays right into thier plan.

Clearly not for you.
I just read the indictment. Delay is named at the end, almost as an afterthought, of being guilty of having "waived application of articles 12.01 and 12.03 of the Texas code of crimninal procedure to the indictment presented herein."
That part of the indictment is NOT a charge. It is a statement necessary to establish jurisdiction of the court and it says that Delay let them bring the indictment AFTER the deadline (statute of limitations) had expired.
I can read the thread and I know what it is about. Its about jumping on the Tom Delay bandwagon and defending him at all costs even though he may not be worth the effort.
Just remember, "it is not the nature of the evidence but the seriousness of the charge."
