I agree with you partly, but I do not believe that not having both parents is an excuse to follow that road. I agree with you completely.

Amen. Typed it right off the framed version on my wall, one of my own all-time favorites.

My girls are in their mid-twenties, educated, attractive and Catholic. I absolutely oppose any domestic relation with any boyfriends outside of marriage for all the good reasons cited here and they do not do it. Excellent post. I totally agree with you.

It is not cohabitation that makes them have poor character, it is their poor character that makes them chose cohabitation.
WORTH REPEATING.

After my husband died nearly eight years ago and I was left with 4 sons to raise, it was never an option for me to live with a man I wasn't married to.
Now as I am dating again, I run across men around my age who have never been married, and they think that is a plus. However, when I ask if they have ever lived with someone, the answer is usually yes, and more than once.
I hesitate to go out with a man who has been married and divorced twice or more times, but it isn't any worse than seeing someone who has lived with and broken up with 5 or 6 different women through the years.
It's a question I now ask of all men, not just how many times have they been married, but also how many times have they lived with a woman.
The answers are disheartening.

I'm not sure if you were serious but here's my two cents;
You might find better qualities in ladies you are considering spending the rest of your life with if you look at them as people instead of a commodity to be traded in.
You take a car for a test drive. Not a partner you will spend your life with. If you choose based on sex you might find your self disappointed when you learn about her character.
One last thing to lighten the subject. I don't know who came up with this quote but;
"Never marry for sex. Marry a good cook. Because no matter how old you are you will always get hungry."

Perhaps, but the jump would have been much bigger and more stressful to our relationship. "Stressful"? What do you mean by this?
My husband and I were spending practically every moment with each other, aside from work hours, for awhile before we got engaged and moved in together (a couple of months before the wedding). I WANTED to spend huge amounts of time with him, that was the point. Is it stressful to find out that he squeezes the toothpaste from the middle or that she insists the toilet paper feed from the top?
Two months after the wedding, my husband and I spent 30 days together traveling across the US. Numerous people told us that would be the "make or break" of our marriage. We had an amazing time! LOL!

And it's the knowledge that there ARE good girls out there that give us God-fearing, celibate-until-marriage bachelors hope and encourage us!

You must be in the "might have a man, but he must be good" category!
