Trust me, yes they do. If it involves national security. Any thing else they may print is allowed and meaningless as intel. Scandals, sure, why not no problem but security, they will spike it if asked.

I feel for you. Ive tried to fight a wrong locally here for the past year. When those in charge dont want to hear you, they just dont. I wish those of you in that stadium had some legal recourse. Those folks down in NO during Katrina sure had recourse and the attention of the media.

I spoke to a friend from OU today. She said the problem OU has is the draw of MEs because of the PetroEng school. She seemed very focused that that program is a core issue in this situation.

Tell me the truth, would you rather that an intelligent, good, red blooded, middle class,American boy,a product of an intact family, educated in the public school system with no indications of any problems, who joined a cell and tried to blow up a number of people as he took his own life? Frankly, that would really scare me!!

I have no political investment in my opinion of Boren but I certainly think he is correct in labeling him a "disturbed individual".

dunno. everyone I talk to says "what? Never even heard there was a bomb much less any of this other stuff."

The silence has been deafening! And THAT fact disturbs my peace of mind more than anything else.

" They probably had at least a little bit of info on his plans, and increased security accordingly."

I believe that too, but PhiKapMom's posts convinced me that the tighter entry search during halftime was really what tripped him up, as far as actually getting in.

I don't think he was in control of detonation myself.

Has anyone picked up this story? Rush, Hannity, Savage, O'Reilly. .....anyone? How about a mention on Brit Hume's "grapevine?"

I'm starting to feel like bait. We keep letting the islamderthals into our country and now they're recruiting our own and all some folks can say is "national security" over and over.

Next years greencard lottery excludes many of our friendly nations like poland but includes a laundry list of muslim nations. I guess it's all for national security but frankly the bait gets hit sometimes.

But this kind of restrained behavior is so atypical from the press, that's what seems curious to me.

Perhaps. But I would think it is, if anything, their own political correctness that makes them blind to anything that points to the middle east or Islam. They think they'd just be fueling the pro-U.S. pro-war-on-terror crowd if they admit that sometimes, in fact, terrorists really ~do~ come from the middle east.

As it is... they would LOVE it if the government would try to shut them up. It would make for their biggest headlines ever.

But this story remains really interesting, and curious on lots of levels. Some of it has yet to make any sense at all. If it was AQ, they're definitely slipping. This would then look like a mistake. The bomb was detonated early. Really clumsy. You'd think they'd try something bigger, like multiple hits.

Maybe they did, and this was the only one we got at the last minute.

There's a lot of maybe's. If it was a loner, wacko sort of fellow... it could look like this too. Tried his hand at bombmaking and made a really simple mistake too early in his career.

Got that right and I am a donor! If Boren had come out and said this is an active investigation and I cannot comment, I would have respected that but his statements to us were ludicrous. Anyone should have been able to see the outright lies. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Trying to enter a crowded football stadium with a backpack of explosives would qualify you as a terrorist bomber. The fact that you attend a mosque and have some Pakistani friends would also make me curious.

Your comment is the perfect reason to say, "well, DUH!". ;) I'm amazed at how many people haven't even heard about this "event".

I doubt he would have needed a ticket if he was an OU student (or do they make their own students pay to attend home games?)

OU and NU charge students for tickets, though with a discount.
BTW, do KU students have free seats in Allen Field House?

A little Big 12 razzing here, folks!

Too bad this is getting zip-zero-nada-zilch coverage outside OKC

The afternoon host on our radio talk show talked about it at length and will do so again tomorrow. The FBI doesn't generally investigate college student suicides. The media will be buzzing soon.
