To gain control over the Iranien oil industry the CIA funded and lead a coup to overthrow prime minister Mohammed Mossadegh (see Operation Ajax).

The wikipedia analysis is incomplete and biased in my view. We were worried that the Shah might go Communist. If memory serves he had snuggled up to the USSR with some sort of mutual agreement. Not saying oil had nothing to do with it or that our actions were necessarily justified, but there was more to it than just oil.

Interestingly, the leader of the CIA covert operation was none other than Kermit Roosevelt, kin to the former President.

If I could find the original article, I'd like to corealate the 1. "ambassadors" names, 2. the companies they related to 3. what those people/companies mean to the Dims, and 4. what those companies/people mean to the government. Might be something we could all look into, but where would it get published to discredit Jimmuh?(Anymore than he has done already).
