Update 1145am EST. Many of you are asking for the list of the anti-drilling Republicans. The group who succeeded in pressuring the GOP to cave in calls itself the "Republican Main Street Partnership." They're holding a press conference at 130pm EST in Washington, D.C. to bray about their "victory." Here's some more info:

Main Street Leaders who helped broker the deal to eliminate ANWR from budget cuts:

Rep. Charlie Bass (R-NH), Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL), Rep. Jim Walsh (R-NY), Rep. Joe Schwarz (R-MI), RMSP Executive Director Sarah Chamberlain Resnic

Here's the complete list of "Main Street" members in Congress.

1pm EST. Guess who is funding the "Main Street" moderates? George Soros and friends. (Hat tip: David Martosko)

Council on Foreign Relations member George Soros has a lot of republican company in his little club.

Dick Cheney and Condi Rice for starters.

John McCain is going to get a big surprise when he tries to run for President. He's as worthless as John Kerry! Maybe worse. At least we KNOW what to expect out of Kerry.

Gov. Robert Ehrlich, Maryland Gov. Linda Lingle, Hawaii Gov. George Pataki, New York Gov. Mitt Romney, Massachusetts Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, California

See ya! No Presidential aspirations for either of you!

What kills me is if these are the "main-stream" Republicans, what the hell is President Bush? And why aren't they on his side?

No, these are Democrats with an R behind their name so they can win - nothing more.

Thank God there's no Hoosiers on that list or I'd blow my lid!

I looked under "chapters" and failed to see an Ohio one. It figures my congressman is on the list. Steve LaTorette needs to retire.

I know. I finally live in a GOP district, I moved, and now I can't even vote for the guy.

This is extremely interesting.......

I can't wait to call Norm Coleman's office........the guy is always a sucker for envronmental wackos....but he's been firmly pro life.

He's also done a great job in investigating the OIL FOR FOOD sub committee but.......why would you enter into any alliance with Soros?

THis is all too sick.......

Now you can see another reason I am happy to no longer be living in Delaware.

Mike Castle is a Joe Biden clone with an "R" behind his name.

I just hope the GOP never runs that fey RINO for a Senate seat.

He is the heir apparent for whenever Biden decides to not run again. He and Crapper, oops I mean Carper, actually did nothing more than switch seats when Castle was termed out after 2 terms as Governor.

BTW - your choice of the word "fey" is interesting........the appropriate word rhmes with it, but begins with "g."

Remind me to donate to the Dem challenger.

That's all we would need a second, or would that be third, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I just called the PR guy who's listed on the site and he said that Soros contributed that 50,000 2 years ago and they returned it............I told him that maybe all the other big contributors should be looked into because most likely they contribute alot of money to the leftists.....perhaps if anyone has time, they could do that.

I said, maybe he should add a note on their web page that they returned Soros ' contribution........he said they had that info up before and i said it might be a good idea to do it again.........lol

According to this, http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?st=NY&last=Soros&first=George&city=&zip=&xst=&next=25, it appears that the Soros money was returned. And that the last Republican he gave money to was John McCain in the 2000 primaries. Other than that, all Democrats and 527's
