GULFPORT, Miss. - U.S. Sen. Trent Lott (news, bio, voting record) says personal losses he suffered because of Hurricane Katrina will weigh on his decision whether to run for re-election in 2006.
-- snip --
Another consideration, he said, is that he is "so disappointed with the (Bush) administration's response to this disaster that I'm almost embarrassed."

I don't think it is entirely about the response to Katrina. I think this has to do with his resentment at having to surrender his spot as Majority Leader after the Strom Thurmond birthday party fiasco.

Taylor is a VERY erratic individual. He won't be winning anything statewide. Chip Pickering will be the next Senator.

We'll really miss you. Please close the door on your way out.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Lott leads the charts on being on both sides of every issue and totally spineless.

Gene Taylor could probably win, although I doubt he's going to run, so it's not really worth debating.

Dear Mr. Lott. GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE
Sorry about your house tho, I'm sure that hurts.

Suppose it was Taylor and Pickering in a statewide race (it could be next year, though something tells me Lott won't retire, cause he's about got invincibility and he has old scores to settle)
But back to Taylor v. Pickering, explain to me, if all things are equal, how would Pickering make up for the huge defections in the coastal counties that Taylor's running would cause
Because in Mississippi, if you're a Democrat, you have to get enough votes in the Delta and North Mississippi to cancel out eastern and coastal/southern Mississippi.
Taylor running screws up that dichotomy, so how exactly would Pickering make it up, regionally speaking?

There are a few others, but for the most part you're right.
To: peyton randolph
he is "so disappointed with the (Bush) administration's response to this disaster that I'm almost embarrassed." I'm so disappointed in Lott's "service" that I AM embarrassed by it.
If you want my pre-campaign input, Senator, let someone else take a turn at being a public servant.
