Biden Blames Alito for His Wife's Tears; Accuses Him of Lying about CAP
CNN | governsleastgovernsbest

I never had much use for Joe Biden, and enjoyed as much as the next Freeper the ribbing he's taken over his record-breaking bloviation at the Alito hearings.

But while never high, my regard for him has just sunk much, much lower.

Wolf Blitzer just interviewed Biden in the context of the poignant scene of Mrs. Alito crying during the today's hearings when Sen. Graham recounted some of the unfair intimations of bigotry that the Dems leveled at Alito.

To Wolf's credit, he played more than once the footage of Mrs. Alito's distress. I would note that at least twice in the last week or so Rush Limbaugh has mentioned his respect for Blitzer.

In any case, Biden was clearly on the spot, and began with some vague generalities about the need to find a better way to determine a nominee's views than the current confirmation process.

But within seconds, Biden went on the attack, essentially blaming Alito for his wife's tears. He effectively accused Alito of lying about his knowledge of the activities of CAP, the Princeton alumni group of which he was a nominal member. In this way, he justified the harsh line of questioning by Kennedy and others that ultimately left Mrs. Alito in tears.

Well, what's sauce for the goose, etc. After all, we all remember the nasty, partisan attacks to which Senate Republicans subjected Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer.

Oh, wait. There were no such attacks. The Republicans were perfect gentlemen. Confirmation blood sport is strictly a Dem game. Despicable.

I am convinced this is all backfiring on the Dems, except among their hard core base.

It's their hard-Left base they are in danger of losing to the Greens. They are hoping to placate them - and that the swing voters will forget all about this little episode by Election Day.

Biden had received a failing grade in a law school course for plagiarizing a legal article (he'd given a single footnote while lifting five full pages from the article). Biden said he'd been unaware of the appropriate standards for legal briefs

Exactly what the national feed on WTAW was the audio of Lindsey Graham asking Alito...

"Judge Alito, are you a closet bigot?"

And then it fed the audio of Graham apologizing to Alito & family....

What a bunch a horse manure! This crap just pisses the hell outta me....

I don't care who they are, there is absolutely no excuse for rude manners.

Joe BITE ME is a crass, cheap excuse for a human being.

>>It was actually a national radio broadcast cuz I heard the exact same thing on my radio station out of College Station - WTAW 1620 AM dial.<<

The report might have been the same, but unless the reporter said the call letters were "KSKY" the reporters were two different people. I am quite certain of this, I paid strict attention about that point.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this was a "wire" report that the lazy reporter read, as you mentioned.

Unbelievable.

I await a reply from KSKY, and I feel certain I will receive some kind of explanation.

Biden has two moving parts; the "Clymer" and the mouth, they are interchangeable.""

These are the same Senators who RUSHED to the defense of Clinton in the Rose Garden re: impeachment.

What a bunch of trailer trash they are themselves. Like Carville said: Drag a $100 bill on the ground and see what shows up.....

Biden is smoth and elegant on the outside and totally toxic on the inside.

I had been listening to Graham get choked up today when he apologized to Alito for his treatment today by the Rats. And that's what they are -- complete and total Rats.

But I had not seen until FNC replayed just what Mrs. Alito's response to Graham's kindness was. Watching her get choked up reminded me of just how that feels. When someone is attacking you or someone you love, you get angry. It's the kindness that undoes us.

Great post!

Yes, of course the Democrats are despicable, lying hypocrites - - nothing new there - - but their craven desire to ratchet down the tone in the once-civil Senate chamber is by no means complete. Look for things to grow far worse if there is another Republican nomination in the next two years.

And boy, do I ever hope Bush gets another one. Or two. THIS is what the last election was all about. Imagine for a minute that instead of Roberts and Alito replacing Rehnquist and O'Connor we had two more Ginsburgs, or two more Breyers....
