Jimmy Carter Inc.
Washington Post ^ | February 26, 2006 | Joel Achenbach

Posted on 02/25/2006 10:22:14 AM PST by george76

The other night Jimmy Carter popped up on the Larry King show, live via satellite, standing in a ski lodge and wearing a fur-lined outdoorsman jacket as though he'd just come in from felling a spruce.

He was publicizing an upcoming auction in which he would sell the furniture he'd been making.

Also his wine. This may have come to many viewers as a surprise: There is Jimmy Carter Wine.

The former president didn't say how he made it, but you know what it's probably called: peanut noir.

Also he plans to sell his paintings. "My paintings," he told King, "have gotten to be pretty popular."

In fact, he said, one of his paintings had been used as the cover for his recent novel.

George Will recently called Carter "an even worse ex-president than he was a president," a snippety remark that probably reflects Will's jealousy that Carter has more hobbies.

Liberal Democrats, demonstrating characteristic loyalty, tried to oust Carter in favor of Teddy Kennedy.

Carter survived, but fell in the fall election to a sunny, twinkly-eyed former movie star.

Carter hadn't just lost the presidency; in effect he'd been fired.

Answering a call, here comes the most indefatigable man in America: Jimmy Carter, ex-president-for-life.

In England they would gently lock him in a room and not let him embarrass himself any more. Here was in Carson City last week because his kid wants to be Senator. What a dolt. Both of em.

'Usually,' ROTFL!

How about a technical explanation of "peanutlloxera," a root disease of the mind?  These insects feed on the hypothal-anus.

Or 'hypothalamus' for the brain stem challenged.

Both he and his son are confusing and confused.

The son said something stupid (from the JFK book)...approximately...

He was for abortion before he was against abortion.

...oh, and we don't have "even-odd" gasoline rationing days, nor yet 18% interest rates, nor yet double-digit inflation.

And despite problems with Iran, NO HOSTAGE CRISIS...!

The look on Laura Bush's face is PRICELESS! She's problably thinking the same things I just wrote.

Well to be honest with you I would certainly have believed that Jimmy Carter did that and is trying to pawn it off as art. That was certainly an interesting choice. Thanks again.

Does the book go into detail about his relationship with Habitat for Humanity? I seem to recall he was originally hired by them as a paid spokesman, but parlayed the position into one that implied the whole thing was his idea, right down to the roofing nails.

Yes it touches on that. But mainly it goes from how he started in politics, through his presidency and his activities now. Honestly I never knew how much he involved himself into the foreign scene until now. I knew about the poll/election watching abroad, but the other things I didn't know. He is a very dangerous man.

Carter, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and the rest have no life outside of politics.

They should have had and/or should now get a life. They need to find hobbies, a sport, something.

That , of course, will never happen. We will be stuck hearing their excuses and empty promises until they die.

Then there will be another funeral rally.

"Carter probably hired someone to make the furniture, the wine and the paintings. It wouldn't surprise me. He is such a damn phony!"

I was thinking the same thing.

In fact I'd bet money he didn't paint or make any of the stuff he says.

He is the biggest phoney we have ever had as a president. He is a stain on this country.

Very good post about Jimmah. Whenever I see a new article on FR about Carter, I always like to see how others feel about the woohs. Of course, I always need to let off steam about the guy my self.

Yours, is especially good. I give you an A+.

Haven't you heard? The reason newspaper reporters love the dims is the dims write their articles for them and all they have to do is put their name on them. They do very little writing of their own.
