I hate to say this. But the good people of Iran have had enough time to make a change. They have about 90 days to do the heavy lifting themselves or it will be done for them. And no..they wont be grateful. Ouch. But true.

Yeah, the regime trotted out 500 hardliners for the media and people get the idea that 12 million Iranians in Tehran agree with them.

The regime tactics appear to work on the west.

I think the two students on the banner you show are the only people there who are for "democracy". I believe that this "democracy" movement in Iran is a figment of your imagination ... sorry to say.

who knows how much weight the pro-democracy movement in Iran has- perhaps we should find out, cause we are going to need them, should Iran experience regime change in the near future.

The desire for freedom must burn strongly enough in the souls of the slaves for them to wrest their own freedom. Otherwise, they can't hold their freedom and they don't deserve it. Iraq is proving this more true by the month.

Yeah, I guess "this "democracy" movement" must be the figment of the imaginations of DoctorZin, Amir Taheri, Michael Ledeen, Ken Timmerman, Pres. Bush, Condi Rice, etc, etc,.

Have you read Ledeen's piece?

No I haven't. Is it contained on the page where your posted link leads?

Thanks for posting the link to the M. Ledeen interview. It's a good interview, Ledeen doesn't mince words.

I remember folks here in FR (and elsewhere) were hoping the "student revolution" would happen before the elections. Unfortunately it didn't. I hope the Iranians find the means to do it soon as time seems to be running short.

Its no figment of imagination. The Iranians need our support or they would not last against the mullahs. There are hundreds of millions who want freedom in China, but the PLA keeps them down. Look at Tiananmen.

"The only people protesting in Iran are those who are fighting for democracy. With all due respect I believe the only one here who is imaging things is you."

Then why don't they step up and take action into their own hands like we did when the Brits marched on Concord and Lexington? Unless these "freedom" fighters step up and put their you-know-what on the block ... no one is going to help them. Just like China, it seems that only a handfull of student are the ones yurning for freedom, but the rest of the people could care less.

Iraq is different ... we did not go into help spread democracy as the primary objective, but to oust Saddam.

Take a look back at previous threads like this. You may be surprised at just how many have put themselves on the line for democracy in Iran. Many of them are in prison and have been tortured. Many are in hiding. Many have been injured. Many more are simply too afraid to lead after seeing what so many others have gone through.
