Bush's Nonsense Coming To An End (Major-Mega Barf Alert!)
San Antonio Express-News ^ | 03/03/2006 | Mansour El-Kikhia

Posted on 03/03/2006 5:48:30 AM PST by texianyankee

Well, it has finally happened. Americans are regaining their senses, and the cycle of ignorance that has gripped this nation for the past five years is relinquishing its hold.

Seeing the end in sight, the rats have begun to jump ship and retreat into their holes, along with their media pundits, Barbie dolls and think-tank experts. It seems Americans have had enough of the "fair and balanced" news and the policies that caused their mental constipation.

In record time, the United States has been transformed from a free and secure nation, loved and respected by much of the world, to one that is less secure and less free. And while radical and fringe terrorist groups in 2001 might have had an ax to grind with the United Sates, today many more such groups have been spawned and target American life and property.

Most important, "the war on terror," the cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy, is providing support for dictators to decimate all legitimate opposition within their societies, further increasing radicalism and anti-Americanism.

As evidenced by the White House, Congress and the new Supreme Court, the radical right has subjugated America's domestic and foreign policy to its will. This faction is attempting to turn back time by eliminating the political and social gains Americans fought so hard to win. New economic policies are targeting the legacies of the New Deal and the Great Society and unleashing huge corporations to act with impunity.

More serious are the attacks on personal freedoms hard-won by the civil rights movement and the counterculture revolution of the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Internationally, they have fashioned a new enemy for the United States, namely Islam and Muslims. I have rarely seen so much hate, misinformation and ignorance displayed so prominently in every facet of American society. Institutions of higher learning are under attack. College Republicans go out of their way in the name of free speech to insult and denigrate those who are different from them. Many speakers and advocates of these groups are paid for by national organizations.

So what are the indicators that America's stupor is coming to an end?

First, polls indicate that most Republican candidates for Congress are facing extreme difficulties holding on to public support.

Second, 56 percent of Americans no longer believe "the war against terror" argument used by the administration to pass unpopular policies.

Third, the war in Iraq is wrong, unnecessary and senseless. According to recent polls, only 34 percent support President Bush in his efforts to maintain it.

Fourth, according to a poll conducted by Zogby International and reported in the Washington Post, 75 percent of U.S. troops in Iraq disagree with the Bush administration and favor evacuating Iraq within a year. Indeed, 29 percent advocate immediate withdrawal. More important, 82 percent didn't buy the administration's weapons-of-mass-destruction argument.

Fifth, the cost of the war has been horrific to the Iraqis and has destabilized their country and turned it into a breeding ground for extremists. Al-Qaida might be paralyzed or even dead, but thanks to this administration, its children are alive and well. And they have no qualms about murdering anyone who gets in their way.

It hasn't been without a cost for America, either. According to the Washington Post, one in three service members in Iraq returns with debilitating psychological disorders.

Sixth, for the first time Americans are discovering how much of their country's economic activity is controlled by foreign business interests. Few can argue against the management of five ports by Dubai World Ports when so many U.S. ports are run by Chinese, Singaporean and British companies.

Finally, the more Americans learn, the more anxious they will be to sweep this administration and its supporters into the dustbin of history and open the windows to let knowledge and hope back in.

He forgot to mention the other Democrat talking points:

-- Bush's all-out assault on women's rights;
-- The administration's rape of the environment;
-- The virtual looting of our treasury;
-- The nightly blood sacrifices of small children;
-- Poor choice in curtains for the Executive Mansion ...

We weren't "loved and respected" during the 70s either. I lived in Norway at that time and they hated the US and capitalism.

...one in three service members in Iraq returns with debilitating psychological disorders.

Well, perhaps it's a little off topic, but I heard this crap so much in the '70's and '80's, about all us "crazed Vietnam Veterans", that I almost believed it myself.

It became convenient for many to just blame any aberration on the "crazed Vienam Veteran" syndrome, that it showed up in many movies, television programs, books, etc, and became an official diagnosis of the voodoo-hoodoo socalled shrink doctors when they couldn't pull anything else out of their medicine bags.

It worked back then to demonize our vets, I assume this idiot author feels it will work now.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It seems Americans have had enough of the "fair and balanced" news

The downturn in Bush's popularity is because of an increase in bias from the Mass Media (they are out of the Mainstream and merely broadcasting Howie Dean's DNC Talking Points). So yeah, they aren't getting balanced reporting anymore...

"Bush's nonsense coming to an end"

If that is so then it is time for the women to get out their berkas and give up their freedom. The rest of us should prepare to be eliminated as the democrats give our country to the Islamic terrorist.

If the American people want to give their country to the terrorist then there is nothing we can do. There is no place to go for once we fall the rest of the world will also fall or the Chinese will put some nukes on Islam and the world will come under domination of tyrants. If this is what the American people and the media wants hope I will be around to see them in their hour of distress when their heads start to roll, so I can cheer, before mine does.

Such a beautiful dream! How about envied and reviled? That might be more accurate.

My Dad is a WWII vet - I imagine he came back psychologically affected - maybe even in today's lexicon, he would be considered damaged. But not in my view.

He worked at one job for 37 years & took on a second job so he could support 3 kids & send them off to college. Yet, whenever WWII comes up, his eyes water and despite being raised on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country where hunting was a part of life, he lost his appetite for guns after the war.

I think the lib media has a bunch of non-story "stories" lined up just to keep the pressure on Pres Bush.

Notice that the ports dustup started winding down and.....shazaam...the video of Bush before Katrina hit was trotted out. When this "story" starts to wane, there will be another.

re :If the American people want to give their country to the terrorist then there is nothing we can do. M

The problem is that most people don't see it that way.

I am a firm supporter of the War on Terror and I do not see it that way.

The Islamic world is a house totally divided.

They have neither the resources, the experience or the capability to take over the world.

Like Afghanistan they are more than happy to kill each other depending on which schism of there religion they support.

There best people desert to the West for a better life, like the Communists of old they can only maintain power through repression

If we withdraw from Iraq, it will collapse into a three sided civil war which will spread to Iran and Syria both nations are sitting on a powder keg.

Such a war will have a major impact on the economies of the world as Oil supplies are disrupted.

We can not withdraw from Iraq because once we removed Saddam we are responsible for that nation and have to stay there until the nation building is complete.

Yes, by left wing professors who are tryin to indoctrinate our youth instead of presenting both sides of the debate.

You're absolutely correct.

The Islamic radicals have always hated us and they will always hate us. It's a shame that our "MSM" refused to show the videotapes of hostages getting beheaded. That's what they would do to every one of us if they had the opportunity. I harbor no false illusions about the depths of their animosity toward us.
