WEEK 10 - Olney, MD., March 04,2006: Operation Infinite FReep, FReepers & Locals Respond
March 06,2006 | TROOPRALLY

Posted on 03/06/2006 5:09:49 PM PST by trooprally

WHAT A WEEK MAKES!!!

The call last week for "Boots on the Corner" was heeded by FReepers and locals alike. We had 8 to the moonbats 12. While still out numbered, the volume of the Honor the Troops group created more honks, more thumbs up and more enthusiasm among us. We were more visible on our corner and the passerbys responded most positively.

Roll call included, Kristinn (who missed his easy ride to Olney and took the hard way to get there because he said he would be there - Thanks), iMacMan (who is always welcome with his "most excellent" camera), [Mrs] Trooprally (She takes the pictures and always gets left out - Reminder to myself - take her picture sometime before I end up in the shed!!), myself, local Lurker Bill, locals Lurker George and his wife, Lurker Ethel, and local Legionnaire Halsey (Korean War Vet - USMC).

But it was still bitter cold out with the wind chill!! That didn't change.

Photos were taken by [Mrs] T or iMacMan. iMacMan's photos are identified as his, all others by [Mrs] T.

Below: Lurkers George & Ethel brought another large American flag and one smaller flag. This added to our visibility.

Below: Lurker Bill - Flag looks great flying in the wind, but doesn't help with the wind chill.

Below: iMacMan with [Mr] Trooprally in 'back' ground.

Below: Lurker Ethel behind [Mr] Trooprally's sign, Lurker George in back ground, and Kristinn

We also had some interesting additions to both groups. Below top is a anti-Inter County Connector Road dissent (Left photo by iMacMan) and on the bottom is a walking 'Red Lobster' advertisement for the "Steam Pot" carry out.

Below: Restaurant sign indicating moonbats = March Maodness (sic) Here. (iMacMan photo)

Below: Two moonbats holding purple sign are from MOBilizing Mothers (See Week 9 for brief history of their group and a good laugh). (iMacMan photo)

Below: iMacMan photo of some of the Quaker grumpies.

Below: Photo of the total gumpy group

Below: Is this grumpy really smiling or just grimacing from the cold? (iMacMan photos)

Below: The ever faithful (If I may use this religious reference) "Waveman" who does not have a clue about reasons for impeachment.

The grumpies still don't seem to enjoy their cold weather protest. They stood there like manikins all in a row. They had even less to be happy about when a SUV with a loud speaker stopped at the red light. After some time thanking our group for being on the corner, including saying he would rather go hunting with VP Cheney than for a ride with Ted Kennedy, he laid into the anti-troop group. He asked them if they were still happy with their Kerry stickers on their cars among other scolding language. But he kept it all PG rated. He was there for the full light cycle and then continued through the intersection.

Our faithful Metro bus drivers gave us honks again. During one left turn light cycle, we had FIVE cars in a row honk their support for us. That's a record. It got us excited. As most cold weather FReepers know, it doesn't take much to get us excited when wind chill is just below freezing.

I can only hope it made the grumpies even colder. But since they are already cold, it probably didn't matter too much. They also didn't seem to get as many honks as last week. Of course, we got a couple cat calls from several cars.

Two non-related items. As [Mrs] T and I are repairing our signs, we decided to replace "Support" with "Honor" for the new signs. We've seen "honor" on some signs and like it. Especially since every moonbat, DemoRAT, maggot & liberal say they support the troops, we felt that "honor" differentiates our side from their's.

We've also weather proofed several of the new signs with the plastic window shrink wrap, the stuff that you use a hair dryer to tighten it up. Several tips we used are: use 2" clear packaging tape in place of the tape in the box; use a little piece of regular scotch tape to hold the plastic in place as you tape it up using the packaging tape; start at the bottom leaving about 5" overlap on back, then overlap the top section over the bottom section so water will run over the bottom piece; do one side at a time, taping it as you go;; after you shrink the front side of the sign, use the packaging tape around the edges.

Look for new signs and some larger signs with old sayings for Friday's WR FReep.

REMEMBER Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney, MD Same time, 3 PM to 4:30 PM

Wow, I haven't seen Olney since the grandparents left Leisure World for Florida! Good work, FReepers! Beer still cold at the Ale House?

I like thoughts on this - "Honor the Troops".

Time for a new sign here.

Thanks AW-

FM - Albion's red banner (Gunn Nutt's recent WR post has a pic of it) is one of the signs that inspired the change in wording from Support to Honor.

Man I haven't seen a "war is not healthy..." poster since the 60's.
I wonder where the head shop is.

Our troops choose to serve their country. We honor their choice and their service. That's something these sad moonies will never understand.

Check out the yellow poster that moonie chick is holding. It's a complete retread of an old-school 60's war poster. Whoa, let's do the time warp, man!
How about "Homicidal dictators are even less healthy for children ...just ask the Kurds".

Great report! Glad the numbers are increasing.

BTW, why is that "person" against the ICC? More importantly, what has that got to do with what these fools are there protesting?

Time warp as far as they are concerned, but it is a new era for the "Silent Majority". We are not going to be silent any more. We are not going to let these groups have free street space again.

Like a good military, we change our tactics as we learn from the past. The moonbats still haven't a clue.

She just happen to pick the same time we were there. Initially she wanted to stand with us. Lurker George told her it's not a good idea. She left us and started to cross to the moonbats side, but thought better. So she took up the corner in front of the 6-12.

They say the ICC will bring more development, thus more traffic. But the idiots don't realize that traffic will always come into Mont. Co. from places outside MC. Most main roads in MC that pass thru the Olney area are two lane roads and it takes hours to get thru Olney.

I'm sure once the ICC is built and traffic diverts to it, the people living on the two lane roads will be super happy. They'll be able to get out of their driveway during rush hour.

Thanks for the explanation. So it is basicly about progress.

You should have let her stand with you down at the end.....then your numbers would have been 9 vs 11.
