Corzine Ready To Lower Tax Boom On N.J. CBS 2 Speaks To Upset Residents, Many Hint At Leaving Image
Marcia Kramer Reporting
(CBS) BERGENFIELD New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine unveils his belt tightening new budget on Tuesday. But even before the announcement, New Jersey taxpayers were expecting the worst.
When Corzine voted for himself to become governor of New Jersey he knew that one day he would have to make some difficult and unpopular budget decisions. That day is Tuesday. And already people are lining up to oppose his expected tax hikes.
Its utterly ridiculous we have to have the guts to cut spending and live within our means, Bogota Mayor Steven Lonegan said.
Lonegan on Monday established a grassroots group to oppose Corzine's expected tax cuts.
Corzine has indicated he favors sales tax hikes as part of a plan to close a $4 billion budget gap.
But the state's inability to increase school aid is expected to force local governments to increase property taxes.
If state aid is flat we will have to raise local property taxes roughly 10 to 15 percent, Lonegan said.
Some New Jersey homeowners say they're thinking about leaving the state. Others already have.

According to the FReeper "about page" he or she is from Maine.
..then again, maybe Yankees don't know that. :)
Just be sure to check any yankee or liberal attitudes at the door. Well, Unless you're moving to austin. that place is full of strange folks.
I was just teasing with you! It still is very puzzling that liberalism creeps around while conservatism stays pretty static. The good thing is that that we conservatives tend to stick together well in blocks.

Modern Liberalism spreads from the urban areas into the suburban. As areas get more crowded, the percieved need for social programs etc. increases.
New Jersey is a perfect example. 30 years ago, it was a firm Republican state. As suburbia extended outward from New York and Philadelphia into the rural areas of the state, democrat influence increased proportionally.
If you look at the county breakdown for NJ, the densley populated poorer counties tend to vote democrat while the rural more affluent counties vote Republican.
The three wealthiest counties in New Jersey (Hunterdon, Morris & Somerset) have been and still are Republican. They are also three of the top 10 wealthiest counties in the United States. The three poorest counties (Camden, Essex & Hudson) have been democrat strongholds for decades.
Unfortunately for New Jersey, the urban area votes exceed the suburban and rural votes.
Chode, amazing isn't it!
Rendell did the exact same thing here in PA when he ran.
He's going to raise your taxes, what a big surprise. Well you would'nt listen so now you'll get what you voted for and without any pity.
cough .. ahem .. hack .. Grey Davis .. cough ...
Never broke a sweat..........
No spider's you say?
There's fiddleBacks bigger than your Aunt Freda's ears...
And tarantula's bigger than Gov. Corzine's mouth....
They got them everywhere....
Maine...oh!
No liberal or Yankee attitude from me. I am looking forward to the move, people seem real nice there. My husband is currently working there and he likes the can do attitude of the people.
If a Democrats lips are moving, he's lying. If his lips aren't moving, he's thinking up a lie.
Escape to Pennsylvania, we'll soon have Swan as governor, fast Eddie is toast, just leave your Jersey ways behind you.
PS. You can buy as many guns as you want, concealed carry is a right, you can own full auto if you want. The down side is that you have to pump your own gas.
Hey! This sounds like a pre-emptive post! ;-)
Good one.
NJ is Virginia north. Kaine wins with a 1.2B surplus and raise the taxes on his liberal friends in the first week.
Thank you, Northern VA.
