On Monday May 1st, while Latino activists are encouraging other Latinos to walk out on their jobs and boycott spending in any Southland businesses, we want you to do the exact opposite. SPEND, SPEND, AND SPEND!

To reward you and your financial patriotism, KFI AM 640 and the John and Ken show will be reimbursing you for your legal citizen-spending spree.

On Monday May 1st, fax or email a copy of a receipt for something you purchased on May 1st 2006 and it will go into a drawing. Twice an hour during their show (3-7PM) John and Ken will go into the special “winds of change booth” that will blow the receipts around allowing John and Ken to choose just one.

The winners will be reimbursed up to $640 per receipt.

On Monday, if you find a business closed, please STOP SPENDING THERE FOR A WEEK. Let them know that you do not appreciate their support of illegal activity and will show it by denying them your business.

Is the point of this day to generate a high sales tax day or to generate more money transactions?

(For instance, trading stocks and paying bills electronically will move lots of money, and grocery food shopping or buying prescription drugs are new purchases, but they won't increase sales tax revenues.)

Some businesses don't have a choice but to close if most (or no) workers show up. I think an automatic, knee-jerk reaction that said business owners condone the boycott would not be wise.

Well Clarence, whether they are legal or not, perhaps these places should consider the quality of the people they hire. If someone doesn't show up for work Monday without a valid reason, they should be gone.

In that case, print yourself up some flyers and tape them to the doors of the businesses. Otherwise they may not connect the loss of your patronage with the reason.

You might eveninclude a bunch of blank lines under your own name so others that see it posted can sign it. Something like a mini-petition form.

Any business I find closed that is normally open will have the sign on their front door when they return on Tuesday.

Today was a "hire an American" show down at the stadium ahead of tomorrow's construction industry hiring fair there.

The Mexican consulates are apparently going to ignore Fox's insistence they stay open during the boycott. He was just called a "lapdog for Bush" on KFI news. The guest worker plan was dismissed as not good enough. They demand amnesty.

Also on the news break it seems the Nation of Islam is supporting the effort with the warning, "American won't treat you right" to the illegals.
