Reports Stating Rush Limbaugh Was Arrested Are Inaccurate; Limbaugh's Attorney Holds Press Conference at 8:00 pm Tonight
Friday April 28, 7:55 pm ET

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A spokesman for Rush Limbaugh said some news reports that state Mr. Limbaugh was arrested are inaccurate.

Separately, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black will hold a press conference at 8:00 pm this evening at the Marriott Hotel at 1001 Okeechobbee Road in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mr. Black will discuss the agreement reached today with the State Attorney's Office whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping that was filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months.

As previously announced, a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

Mr. Black stated, "Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during the 18 month period, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won," he said.

Yea Savage ran some clips of th MSM yapping their jaws but he didn't refuterate their rantings he just played them and went on yapping himself ...

I'm so sick of his 'Hush Bimbo' BS. Most of his show these days is his yammering away about other talk show hosts and how they are overshadowed by him. Hell, he even went on about that tonite after taking swipes at Rush.

I think Michael Savage is just a clever character dreamt up by Michael Weiner. And he's pretty good at it, in a strangely entertaining sort of way. He reminds me of an aging, drug-addled hippie on a rant.

Pay him no mind.

Well on Hannity and Colmes they all seemed to agree that LImbaugh was unfairly prosecuted. Even that defense attorney Medcedes took Rush's side. Then on Gretta's show she had 4 lawyers who just bashed Rush the entire segment with a couple of guys playing the race card. I think its pretty obvious what thats all about. I bet anything those guys are big time DNC contributors.

Aren't these the same folks who constantly scolded us about "rushing to judgement" during the Clinton impeachment?

maybe not "the world" but at least 23 million folks per week! :)

Definately much more power than should be held by an entertainer, I agree.

Well you can always try to introduce legislation that limits the number of listeners per radio show.

Limbaugh Reaches Settlement in Drug Case - Yahoo! News

Posted: Friday April 28,2006 - 06:54:58 pm

By BRIAN SKOLOFF, Associated Press Writer 25 minutes ago WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rush Limbaugh and prosecutors in the long-running painkiller fraud case against him have reached a deal calling for the only charge against the conservative commentator to be dropped if he continues treatment, his attorney said Friday.

Limbaugh was booked on a single charge that was filed Friday, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Jail. He left about an hour later, after Limbaugh was photographed and fingerprinted and he posted $3,000 bail, Barbera said.

The radio giant's agreement to enter a diversionary program ends a three-year state investigation that began after Limbaugh publicly acknowledged being addicted to pain medication and entered a rehabilitation program.

Prosecutors accuse him of "doctor shopping," or illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping prescriptions. They learned that he received about 2,000 painkillers, prescribed by four doctors in six months, at a pharmacy near his Palm Beach mansion.

Limbaugh pleaded not guilty Friday to a charge of fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions. Though he steadfastly denies doctor shopping, the charge will be dismissed in 18 months if Limbaugh complies with court guidelines, his lawyer Roy Black said.

"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position," Black said in an e-mailed statement.

Limbaugh spokesman Tony Knight said the commentator signed the agreement Thursday, and that it called for him to enter the not guilty plea. "It's not in the system moving toward trial. It was all a formality. It's a concluded deal," Knight said.

Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the state attorney's office, said prosecutors had not yet received the signed agreement.

"I am not disputing the facts, the conditions that Black represented, but until his client signed the agreement, we don't have a full agreement," Edmondson said. "I am sure it's just a timeline issue."

He refused to comment further.

As a primary condition of the dismissal, Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past 2 1/2 years, Black said. Among other provisions, he also has agreed to pay the state $30,000 to defray its investigative costs, Black said.

After 18 months, "He will not have any criminal record," Black said...

The radio station here had O'Reilly on from 1 to 3 PM. The cancelled him at that time and now they have him on from 11pm to 1am.

CNN once again has gone into hysterics

Forcing many a mild person to use bad language, especially myself. Advice is often given on FR, ie: do not watch CNN. High blood pressure or not- somebody has to keep an eye on them.

About seven years ago, a poll was taken , This poll gave figures on the political bent of T/V journalists. Results:

83% Democrat.

89% voted for William Jefferson Blythe Clinton.

Wolf Blitzer appeared taken aback on being appraised of these figures. He indicated he was disturbed. Since then I thought he was at heart, a grudgingly fair sort of fellow.

Come back to real journalism Wolf. Do not become a Rather. Good luck to Rush. I hope he retains his utterly disarming humour on Monday.

If these remarks are factual, this means Rush was arrested and he submitted to such arrest voluntarily after a warrant for arrest was issued.

The legal process after such arrest, whether the DA drops the charges, offers to dismiss it in exchange for a "deal" and a judge agrees to an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal (ACD) in 18 months (or other "terms" of a deal), or chose to pursue the matter through trial (which the DA did not) are the legal processes which follow arrests.

It does not work well or broadcast very far.

AM radio will follow 8-tracks.

Lynn Anderson and Limbaugh are in the same boat.

Nope...sorry. An "arrest" is the process by which a person is taken into physical care and custody of the state, for whatever purpose. It is possible to present for booking, and to post bond (assurance to appear at some future time and place), without having been formally "arrested."

Pardons for favors. That's something Clinton did.
