Reports Stating Rush Limbaugh Was Arrested Are Inaccurate; Limbaugh's Attorney Holds Press Conference at 8:00 pm Tonight
Friday April 28, 7:55 pm ET

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A spokesman for Rush Limbaugh said some news reports that state Mr. Limbaugh was arrested are inaccurate.

Separately, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black will hold a press conference at 8:00 pm this evening at the Marriott Hotel at 1001 Okeechobbee Road in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mr. Black will discuss the agreement reached today with the State Attorney's Office whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping that was filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months.

As previously announced, a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

Mr. Black stated, "Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during the 18 month period, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won," he said.

I'm sure after the process of being booked, Rush was able to leave on his own recognizes. This was a deal.

I don't believe it is against the law to be addicted to something, is it?

Defendants are often let go by the police on their own recognizance after arrests, voluntarily submitting themselves after a warrant is issued or not. It's still an arrest.

For an arrest to occur, it does not have to entail the cops coming after you, putting handcuffs on you, and incarcerating you.

FYI, if Rush was "booked," he was arrested. If he had his fingerprints and mugshot taken, he was arrested.

Someone doesn't have to go to jail for an arrest.

From corner.nationalreview.com:
THE RUSH MATTER [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

A lawyer friend sums it up: “Not guilty, no admission of guilt. He was processed voluntarily. The prosecutor did not bring the case to a jury and in 18 months the charge (doctor shopping) is dropped. The prosecutor has made a charge. It will not be tried. In 18 months it will be dropped.”

This has nothing to do with whether he was "arrested" beforehand. That has to do with the legal process afterwards, arrest notwithstanding.

It has never been proven that his hearing loss (NOT TOTAL) is due to any drug use. See wikipedia, search under 'Rush Limbaugh"

What he SHOULD do is go after them with the power that he has at his command. The power they tried to take away from him. The power to change the world

Whoa. Is he like a messiah or something?

M-O-O-N spells messiah.

From the Associated Press:
Rush Limbaugh Turns Himself In; Charges to be Dropped

By BRIAN SKOLOFF, Associated Press Writer

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Rush Limbaugh and prosecutors in the long-running prescription drug case against him reached a deal Friday calling for the only charge against the conservative commentator to be dropped without a guilty plea if he continues treatment.

Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities on a warrant filed Friday charging him with fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Jail. He and his attorney Roy Black left about an hour later, after Limbaugh was photographed and fingerprinted and he posted $3,000 bail, Barbera said.

Prosecutors' three-year investigation of Limbaugh began after he publicly acknowledged being addicted to pain medication and entered a rehabilitation program. They accused Limbaugh of "doctor shopping," or illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping prescriptions, after learning that he received about 2,000 painkillers, prescribed by four doctors in six months, at a pharmacy near his Palm Beach mansion.

Limbaugh, who pleaded not guilty Friday, has steadfastly denied doctor shopping. Black said the charge will be dismissed in 18 months if Limbaugh complies with court guidelines.

"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position," Black said in an e-mailed statement.

As a primary condition of the dismissal, Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past 21/2 years, Black said. Among other provisions, he also has agreed to pay the state $30,000 to defray its investigative costs, Black said.

Prosecutors did not immediately return a call for comment...

Roy Black made Rush a winner tonight. Roy's client from another drug-related case last month wasn't so lucky.

Don't get me wrong. The Feds had such a massive case against BioMed Plus, that even the best legal team in Florida couldn't save 'em.

"Sure it's extortion. But I guarantee the Florida DA spent far more than $30k trying to bring Rush down."

And all they did was promote his ratings. He will be even more popular now. I love watching the explosives go off in their faces right before they lob that last bomb.
Rush is loved and loathed for good reason. One of the fastest and most logical thinkers I've ever seen.

Gets his picture taken, played with finger paint, pleaded or signed a statement saying "Not guilty!"

All done and...

walk out the door.

The silly prosecutor didn't have much of case against Rush.
