After last Saturday's "most excellent" FReep, this week could be considered 'slow'.
It was very windy and it was decided not to put up the red banner. The blue banner held its own in the 20 MPH wind. It was overcast for part of the FReep with a chance of thunderstorms, so we were over joyed when the sun came out.
I sometimes think the bad weather is saved for Saturday so that MOAB2 can be put up at Walter Reed, which is very good, because WR is the main place that we need to show our stuff.
Our four regulars showed up, Lurker Bill, [Mrs] Trooprally ([Mrs] T), Cindy_True_Supporter (CTS) and myself.
All pics are by [Mrs] T.
BELOW LEFT: Lurker Bill BELOW RIGHT: CTS with blue banner billowing from wind. BELOW BOTTOM: [Mr] T, with flags waving.
The moonbats had 13. They must have made sure everyone showed up for support after the verbal jap-slapping they got last week from BufordP, Jimmy Valentine's brother and Doctor Raoul. Our local didn't show up as she said she would. I assume the threat of thunderstorms kept her away.
This week was slow. Less traffic, fewer honks, thumbs up and waves. But we still got more than the moonbats. One active duty soldier put his ID up to the windshield so we could see it as his passenger waved to us. The buses and police who honk and wave are also satisfying.
We also got more one-finger salutes, thumbs down and head shaking than before. I had a verbal exchange with one lady when she gave us the "V" for victory as she was stopped at the light. She kept saying peace when I said it means Victory.
In the past, we have had very positive responses from the Jewish community as they walk back from the Synagogue. Several weeks back our neighbor and his family stopped by and talked with us for 20 minutes. This week a family stopped by and they were totally against us being in Iraq and against President Bush. Sounds like they need to come out from under their rock. Our efforts in the Middle East are good for Iraq and Israel.
Unfortunately, the moonbats were there.
Though they were on time this week - 3:15 PM. The past weeks they have been showing up at 3 PM.
BELOW LEFT: 3:15 PM and no one home. BELOW RIGHT: Ah, here they come. BELOW BOTTOM: Here comes another taking the scenic route.
BELOW LEFT: "I have to pee so bad I don't know which end is up". Is Chief Grumpy smiling? BELOW RIGHT: "Thank you for showing me which end is up. Now where is the bathroom? My Oxybutynin Cloride hasn't started working yet."
BELOW LEFT: "Can you read my sign? Is it right side up? Hey, I'm talking to you, don't worry about your banner". BELOW RIGHT: "They can read your sign and they still think you are an idiot".
BELOW LEFT: Sign troubles again. BELOW RIGHT: "X" marks the spot.
BELOW LEFT: Peek-A-Boo is back. BELOW RIGHT: "Yea - right there, you got it, now just don't eat it".
BELOW: "V" for Victory sign and Chief Grumpy still not smiling.
BELOW: And here is a shot of the whole gang.
Then a Code Pinko Auxiliary member came over to talk to us. He talked to Lurker Bill BELOW LEFT and CTS. He can't be very proud of his convictions since [Mrs] T could barely blow up his buttons BELOW RIGHT which said 'Code Pink' and 'Impeach Bush'. We were breaking up and he didn't get a chance to talk to the [Mrs] T or I, no great loss. CTS really gave it to him and had him back tracking with her facts. She especially had him stumped when the conversation came to how could she talk for the military. She told him she was a former captain and he just stood there looking dumb.
Above is what Lurker Bill saw, but BELOW is what [Mrs] T's camera saw. In the past this guy has occassionally showed up and held signs for a little bit with the 'Quackers'. He even tried to hand fliers out (assume it was about Code Pink) to them. This week he came late and just tried to hand out fliers to both groups.
REMEMBER
Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney, MD
Same time, 3 PM to 4:30 PM
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
We had 23 FReepers, including a surprise visit by a special FReeper and their sister. There were also several new faces that came. PleaDeal is writing the AAR, so look for it soon.
But we need to keep having a few new or infrequent FReepers show up each week. Just take one Friday out of the month and join us. You will make a difference.
Join us between 6:30 PM til 9:30 PM at the main gate.
Thanks for going out each week. It is appreciated.
pa·tri·ot·ism Audio pronunciation of "Patriotism" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ptr--tzm) n. Love of and devotion to one's country.
Where is the love you stupid B&*(H?
...They feel...that the idea of inherited or "imputed" sin is an "invented and unscriptural barbarism." ...To a great extent therefore, we are the arbiter of our own destiny, having the power of choice. Salvation, in the Quaker sense, lies in our power to become the children of God.
...While some religious groups have emphasized the Bible as the final and finished charter of a spiritual governance, the Quakers believe in a "continuing revelation." As the...Light continues to shine, it should lead to further and fuller insights, to the understanding of divine new purposes, and to new powers of fulfillment. ...Because Friends believe so ardently in the possibility of "immediate" or direct communication, they have felt no need of elaborate ecclesiastical establishments, organizations or authority. They were and are individualists, as well as group seekers, and in their individual lives they assume the obligation of searching out and following the will of God as it applies to them.
from "Inner Light" by Mary K. Blackmar
It's easy to see why today's Quakers are so uncertain they are saved, and so resistant to any authority, or any ideas but their individual ones. If they truly are so moved by the Spirit, how come none of them feels any gratitude for those who have followed Christ's declaration, "Greater love has no man than he lay down his life for his friends"?
[Mr] & [Mrs] T
Ditto back to you.
"Pity poor me. Been depressed since 2000. Bush's fault."
No - I think a sex change that went wrong.
Now where did you get her pic from. I looked back and couldn't find it. Looks like one to tgslTakoma's flags behind her.
[Mr] T
Methinks it's Concretebob behind her. I saved that pic from one of the early Olney FReeps.
Will ping the DC Chapter to the report, next...
Also, Mr/Mrs T need some asparagus and rhubarb advice...
Rhubarb/strawberry pie - I love it. Just have to add extra sugar. Also like raw rhubarb sprinkled with a ton of sugar.
Thanks for the ping to the others.
