I would like to ask: Mr. Murtha, what are you doing to help release the Marines in captivity who are shackled and in jail cells without even being accused of any crime?

Thank you to Mr. Robinson and Commissioner Irey for organizing this.

A check is going to be in the mail first thing in the morning. I can't tell you how strongly I believe that Murtha needs to be retired.

I would like to ask Murtha if he agrees with the perception that Congresspeople do NOT have to follow certain laws that other Americans do...

And yet, Congresspeople don't give our military the "presumption of innocence", that other Americans get?

I do have a couple of questions for the Congressman. I've served recently in a JTF environment with Navy, Marines, Army, and AF. I never met a Marine during my last JTF deployment that didn't want to go help a Free Iraq. What does a Lance Cpl. see that the Congressman doesn't?

For one question.

Mrs. Irey, Thank you for joining us FReepers tonight. It's nice to know that you have joined such luminaries as Tony Snow and Mark Levin here in Freeperville.

God bless you and your family, as you stand up for what is right and great about America. Prayers offered from an American male black conservative Republican in Los Angeles, CA (land of nuts and libs).

We're also inviting Jack Murtha to do a LIVE interview on FR. Hope he can take the time to answer a few FReeper questions. I think we may have one or more Marines aboard that might like to have a word with him.

All I'd want is to make sure that Jean Schmidt's words get repeated to him, and don't get shouted down or taken down -

COWARDS CUT AND RUN; MARINES NEVER DO.

Boy did I screw this one up!

I honestly thought that the interview was an audio interiew and was over. I didn't understand the deal until I was banned (for being an idiot -- but I plead idiocy and thank JR, JR and AM for letting me back after seeing it.)

JR(^2), can we perhaps establish a forum or a protocol that is "single threaded" and is "read only?" Something like ModOnly or ReadOnly with specific enforcements in place without banning people? I saw others who have much more gravitas than I post to this thread, so I assume they were equally unclear on what the proper way to proceed was. It isn't a bannable offense to say "howdy" to a great Republican Conservative who also is attractive (one of my posts was an innocuous "she's good looking.")

JR (either or both) please consider this plea. I really was trying to be cordial. I didn't understand what "don't post" meant in the context given.

Lets put that senile old horse to pasture.

The Talibans favorite congressman is an embarassment to the nation.

If there were term limts, and I didn't see the question posed to Irey, Murthas would be automatically prvented from becoming legislators for life.

I appreciate Ms.Irey's time. There were some really great questions. Sadly, the answers were largely stock answers.

Most county's are sustained by sales taxes. If unemployment has dropped 18%, then it stands to reason that sales taxes will increase. But she doesn't really say why or what initiatives were taken to make unemployement drop. Some areas naturally develop because of their proximity to something that is growing. Some lag.

I understand there were computer problems. But what does that say when there is a simple forum and they are having problems responding to the questions posed. Were they using an old 286 computer?

Look, this isn't a rant against her or her candidacy. But there wasn't a single answer that gave a genuine insight to her candidacy and what she is bringing to the table to address the questions or issues on the minds of supporters, or even more important her constituents. And sadly, folks from her district were largely not heard from.

So any building that any person has on their vacation itinerary should be subsidized by the taxpayer? I've nothing against preserving buildings, or any other structures. Just do it with private funds, this way it will also be Constitutionally copacetic.

You're automatically assuming Ms. Irey's presumed intervention does not involve private enterprise. Why?

Her account was only active yesterday evening, but I think posts here on this thread will likely be seen by her staff. Certainly can't hurt to try.

I did not make the selection as to what questions would be presented. But it was quite obvious that many questions submitted and presented to her were directly related to Ms. Irey's district. District 12 residents had just as much opportunity to present questions as anyone else.

It may involve private enterprise, but knowing how Congress works and every Congressman except Ron Paul works (and I may be wrong about him), bringing "every resource available to me" always means federal funding. Always.

It would be churlish to fault Mrs. Irey for understanding how the system works, though.

Please understand. I thought there were some good questions. But it appeared that the district was woefully underepresented with people posing questions. That may or may not be the case, since as you stated, the questions were gleaned from all questions submitted.

But I did think the responses were woefully lacking in substance.

I could have given the answers that were given with reference to top priorities. (1. Win the War on Terror. 2. Secure our borders, and address the illegal immigration problem. 3. Reform our cumbersome tax code.)

How does she propose we win the war on terror. How does she propose our borders become secure and how would she address the illegal immigration problem. How about a couple of steps on reforming our cumbersome tax code.

I appreciate the time she gave. But for the most part, there was no meat with her potatoes with regard to answers.

Sorry the rules were unclear to you. You were not the only one

This was our first attempt at this type of interview and to prevent distractions on the thread, the mods handed out short suspensions to those who posted during the live interview. It was the only action we could take to keep the thread focused on the questions and answers while it was live.

Hopefully the next thread like this will have better controls
