A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Media drinks Hezbollah Kool-Aid, as "losing" side -- Israel -- widens control of southern Lebanon
Have the critics' response to Israel's response been disproportionate? Just now there is growing criticism that Israel's critics may have engaged in excessive use of forceful language, noting that criticism should have been balanced, or proportional. Retaliation from pundits against Israel for Israel's retaliation against Hezbollah has been relentless. But some pundits blame liberal Hezbloggers, who've hidden in underground bunkers reinforced with anonymity, noting that their decision to attack Israeli action pushed the entire liberal punditry into a war of words against Israel, a war it never wanted. Israel's critics are battling a tougher-than-expected Israel, with some analysts noting that despite scores of New York Times articles pounding Israel's position on Lebanon, such criticism has thus far failed to push Israel back or block its pounding of Hezbollah.
Since the liberal media mafia likes the idea of an immediate and one-sided ceasefire for Israel, how about one for the New York Times? In my proposal, the Times quits firing on Israel in exchange for . . . no incentives. Of course, no ceasefire will work without a solution to the root cause -- the libbies' desire to turn Jews into lampshades. Wait. Maybe I'm being disproportionate. Liberals DO seem willing to accept Jews -- but only when they're defenseless and under "restraint." As in the Holocaust.
In the couple of weeks since that Brutal Zionist Goliath has been 'bullying' the little, tiny, teensy-weensy Arab World, Islamists have kidnapped/bombed/shot/rocketed/murdered a total of 1,155 people in Somalia, Thailand, India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Chechnya, Afghanistan and Iraq. Moderate Islam on the march!
That's not all -- plenty more Islamic religious activity. On July 23, two Israelis are killed and 14 are wounded in a Hezbollah rocket attack, four days after "two (Israeli) brothers, ages 9 and 3, are blown apart by Hezbollah rockets in their front yard," wounding 9 others, which happened a day after an Israeli is killed by a Hezbollah missile as Hezbollah "fires multiple rockets into civilian areas," wounding 60 others, two days after "Palestinians" bombed "a group of Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, killing one," wounding 6, a day after "Hezbollah fired Iranian missiles at an Israeli city, killing eight residents," wounding 17, two days after "Hezbollah rockets kill an elderly woman and her 5-year-old grandson," wounding 3 others, including the boy's parents, a day after a "70-year-old woman is killed by a Hezbollah rocket," wounding 21. Gee, ain't Allah great?
At press time, these Islamic peaceniks have murdered or wounded almost 200 Israelis. Hezbollah and libbies at Daily Kos celebrate by dancing in the streets, as if this is some huge 'victory' -- '200 down, just 14 million Jews to go!'
Actually, now that it appears the well-armed and well-prepared Hezbollah "guerrillas" are getting the crap knocked out of them, they've lapsed into their usual wussery, whining that Jews are 'massacring' 'innocent civilians,' and begging the Great Satan, which Hezbollah says is run by the Little Satan, to make the Little Satan stop. Of course, an 'innocent civilian' in Lebanon is Hezbollah in faded Denim jeans and a T-shirt.
Hezbollah's simple 3-step system for fighting wars consists of (1) starting a fight, (2) getting your butt kicked (3) wailing because the other side hit back. Just like liberals. In the Arab-Israeli "context," the pattern is familiar: Some Nazislamic group operating from Ratholeistan kidnaps/shoots/bombs/rockets the Jews; the Jews respond by turning the Nazislamic group into fine, decaffeinated powdery material; the "innocent" "civilians" sheltering the Nazislamic group in Ratholeistan are "stunned" that the Jews fight back 'disproportionately' to kidnappings/shootings/bombings/rocketings launched from Ratholeistan by attacking Ratholeistan. Instead of, say, Sweden.
From that other Hezbollah stronghold, the Washington Post, this: "Images from Beirut, where the destruction has turned some southern neighborhoods into piles of rubble, show the uncanny exposures of war." After two weeks of "barbaric destruction," sadly, CNN's bureau STILL remains intact.
Sooooo, the Jihidiot whining and complaining, summed up, goes something like this: The Ruthless Zionist Monster is stomping disproportionately on Hezbollah. Scratch that. The Ruthless Zionist Monster is afraid of Hezbollah and Hezbollah remains unstomped and heroic, thanks to a network of defensive structures called women and children. Allah be praised!
The 'argument' by pundidiots in Washington goes something like this: The 'conflict' in Lebanon is World War III and the U.S. has given Israel two weeks to wrap up World War III, or World War III becomes a wider conflict -- WORLD WAR! Besides, Israeli action only 'emboldens' Hezbollah. If you're not careful, Hezbollah may try something really bold -- like cross the border and kidnap Israeli soldiers!
The liberals' model of waging war with "restraint" must be that of Clinton's war against that well-known global terror mastermind, Slobodan Milosevic. Under Clinton's policy of restraint, schools, hospitals, buses and the Chinese Embassy were bombed. Clinton then blamed his restraint on outdated CIA maps.
With the main arteries to Syria bombed and Hezbollah unable to resupply as Israeli forces take over key Hezbollah strongholds, it's no surprise that the losing side -- Hezbollah, liberals, the New York Times -- wants a ceasefire. And demand that Israel engage in a dialogue. This would be akin to Bush inviting Osama to Crawford for talks. A preposterous idea -- we all know 9/11 was the work of Halliburton. And Wal-Mart.
Most of these ceasefire proposals center around setting up an interim multinational force in southern Lebanon, building on the failed interim multinational force now in southern Lebanon. For 28 years, southern Lebanon has had an interim multinational force, the grand idea being to provide "stability" in the area. The fierce Stabilizers allowed Iran's little "stabilizing" force in Lebanon, known as 'Hezbollah,' 'stabilize' a network of underground bunkers and amass forces and arsenal on Israel's northern border after Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000. Armed with this knowledge, Kofi Annan is pushing for more stabilizers. That'll break the will of Hezbollah!
All of which is a lot of Hezbull. Let the IDF finish off Hezbollah, and you won't need an international force. That's the Bush strategery. Even as Condi arrived in Lebanon, Bush was speeding up delivery to Israel of satellite and laser-guided bombs to whack Hez. Her trip was the perfect cover. Hez and hers.
Israel hasn't given southern Lebanon a moonscape make-over yet to give the civilian locals time to get out of dodge. By holding back firepower, and by planting 'Israel-fears-battle-hardened-Hezbollah' stories in the press, Israel lures "emboldened" Hezbollah into The Trap. It's a beautiful thing. To the IDF, I say, Happy Hunting, boys!
Anyway, that's...
My Two Cents...

Thank you all for the pings..I enjoy so much reading the post and looking at the graphics that you talented people put up here..Keep it up I get a real big boost reading your comments..
I would like to share this with all of you..I get these from my niece every morning.these are her prayers to God and most of the time it hits home to me and I am sure others that she shares these with..In these troubling days when our friends in Israel are going through so many hate filled days.We all need to pray and ask Gods protection for these brothers and sisters in Israel..
Amplified Bible)
Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].
Dear Father:
Good Morning!! Thank You for today. Thank You for reminding us that You are there. You are not going anywhere. So many times, we may feel abandoned. But we have not been abandoned. You said You would never leave us and never relax Your hold on us. So many times, we think if we do not toot our own horn, that horn will not be tooted. No one will know what we can do or how good we are. But You said if we come humbly before You, You will get the word out. You will toot our horn. You will exalt us. We have such a wrong impression of what it is to be humble and meek. That is definitely the work of the devil. He wants to make us think that to be humble is to be a doormat. To be meek is to be weak. The exact opposite is the truth. To be meek is to be strong. We have the strength to hold back. To be humble is to have enough control that we choose to turn everything over to You. The devil wants us to think that we do not need to bother You with every little thing that pops us. That is because Satan dines on what we withhold from You. He has been getting fat and sassy and having a party at our expense. Well, starting today, the party is over. He is having a stomach ache like nobodys business.
We know that the devil fears virtue. He is terrified of humility. He hates it. He sees a humble person and it sends chills down his spine. The hair on the back of his old hairy neck stands up when we kneel down, when we bow before You because humility is the surrender of our heart our soul of everything to You. The devil trembles before the meek, because the very areas where he once had full and free access there You are!! He runs right into You. And he is terrified of You, Jesus. And since You live on the inside of us, he is terrified of us too!!!
Thank You, Jesus, for living through us today, for taking over every area of our lives.
In Jesus Name
.Amen

It will be too soon to notice yet, but the pain does subside, and the love continues to manifest itself and even grow.
The math for this is very strange, but it is based on the fact that joy shared is joy multiplied, and sorrow shared is sorrow diminished.
Stay with it. You will see.

Every time you think of her with love, she will be drawn to you. I'm so happy about the flag. It is such an honor. Think about her climbing that fence. Do you know that story? When faced with a wall (or a fence)...don't just look at it-
climb it
and don't just climb it
climb it like a pro.
You know she would have loved to see you turn 16, and be by your side as you grow into a woman. It's hard to know someone (a grandmother, a mother, a gramp) for who they really are when you know them as a grandmother, a mother, a gramp. You might never have fully known her, because it's hard to see past those layers to the whole person that lies beneath.
Yet she's left a lovely legacy of stories and friends that is priceless. You are so blessed. But it hurts. When little, we require a routine and consistency in our lives, for many reasons (security being one), yet as we grow older, we find the opposite, we must learn to adapt to and then overcome a great many situations. Not easy. And I'm a great one to talk. I just burst into tears missing my dad two nights ago.
If it helps, think of it as if she's moved.
Because that's really what she did.
Now, let me tell you a story. One of my cousins tape recorded my gram telling some stories, and several years after she was gone, I asked her to send me a copy. I waited until I was in the mood and one night when the babies were all in bed I went out in the night, in solitude, to hubby's truck to hear my grandmother's voice.
Full of anticipation, I pushed the cassette in and turned it up. I could hear the tape running....and my heart beat faster and faster.
Then,
in the dark,
alone,
came this God-awful screeching and moaning and howling and creaking and my hair stood on end while I nearly came right out of my skin!!!!!!!!!!
My cousin had inadvertently used a tape that her 13 year old son had made for Halloween.
I had to flip to the other side to hear gram : ) after I got my heart back where it belonged. It was up by my tonsils.

Honey, you are grieving. It is a process where you will go through different stages. You will hurt, you will be angry and you will be frightened. You will want to blame somebody, or second guess why it happened. We all go through these emotions. It can be frightening to think about death and dying, especially for a young person. But, you take lessons from your Grandmother. She would tell you that when you love the Lord with all your heart, you will no longer be afraid. She wasn't afraid. She knew that the Lord was with her all the way. Eternity is real, we are given the choice where we will spend it. Choose Jesus Christ and He will send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, into your life and heart.
Know that I am praying for you and thinking of you every day. It will get better, and yes, you will lose others that you love. That is the way of the world. Think of this life as a school. It is temporary. Everything dies here, but in God's Heaven life is eternal and real.
Your Grandmother realized that her life was a grand adventure and she enjoyed the ride. She shared so much of herself with us, we got to relive her adventures through her words. Remember that we are here for you with our prayers and words of wisdom gained through years of experience. We love you.

Dear Morgan, although you have received some wonderful advice I KNOW that when the heart is heavy & the pain is great, wonderful advise more or less bypasses the brain.
My advise (which might be bypassed) is to go deeply through the grief as you are doing. This is part of the "valley of the Shadow of death".. think about the words.
too many people go too quickly around the grieving process & It comes back to bite them at a later time with another loss etc.
You have REALLY lost someone to grieve. She was a marvelous person & although to you at your age, she might seem very old.. to those of us "up there" in years we realize she was NOT old at all & in spirit very young & vibrant.
Cry, mope, do the grief process.. at the same time try to eat healthy.. get some exercises..(do you have a doggie to walk or a friend/neighbor's dog that you can volunteer?). Nothing helps one process through emotional loss better than physical activity to get clarity & balance.
We loved your grandma & miss her immensely. Some holes never get filled. We are so glad to see you drop in & visit with us..yes, even sharing your pain.
much love & SUPPORT from the Finest at the Finest!!!

Happy TGIF
My computer room has finally cooled enough that I can sit in here for longer than 10 minutes. The temp today will only get to 101. Downright cool. :)
