International ANSWER held a rally in San Franciso today to "protest" the existence of Israel. There was a lively counter-protest across the street, organized by SF Voice for Israel (SFV4I), Stand With Us, Protest Warrior and others. The two sides were separated by barricades and tons of police officers--looked like the entire SFPD.
We got there late in the day and made up the smaller afternoon contigent (maybe 30 people), but at its height, I was told there were around 400 people, which is huge for SF! Reportedly, there was a few thousand on the other side at its height. When I was there, it was pretty piddly, maybe a few hundred and most of them were Arabs. Some of the speeches were given in Arabic and followed by choruses of "Allu Akbar!" You could have been in Tehran. Meanwhile, Richard Becker of ANSWER droned on about the "revolution" and "creating a movement."
But most of the Arabs there looked like they just wanted to kill some Jews. As usual, the keffiyeh-clad terrorist wannabees and the headscarf brigade made the up the front lines, facing us and shaking their fists, doing Nazi salutes, knashing their teeth and being generally excitable. At one point several of them got hold of one of our Israeli flags and tried to burn it. But the cops immediately overwhelmed them and after a brief scuffle, ended up retrieving the flag and hauling off one of the terrorists. We cheered on the cops as the arrestee spit on the ground and made lewd gestures at us. He was loaded into a paddy wagon and taken away, much to our delight.
We hung out for a couple of hours, leaning on the barricades and waving Israeli and American flags. We flipped off passing cars with Pali flags and terrorist slogans, booed the speeches, and shouted "Go Israel!" Writer Lee Kaplan was there and he held a taperecorder up to a bullhorn, blasting that great Israeli song "Yalla Ya Nasrallah."
We brought an "ANSWER Hates Jews" sign and there were the usual SFV4I signs, plus a guy who brought more hardcore offerings. One of his signs had a picture of the planet and it said above it "Islam: It's a Blast." Another said "Religion of Peace?" and underneath something along the lines of "Suicide Bombings, Headcutters, and Terrorists," the letters dripping blood.
Several Tikkunites (Tikkun Community, Jewish peaceniks) were on our side, which was a first. Mostly likely the blatant anti-Semitism of the lefties and jihadists finally got to them. But their sickening signs calling for an immediate "Cease-fire" and intoning of "Peace Now" slogans didn't exactly endear them to our crowd. A couple of people confronted them about it and several debates ensued. Two of the Tikkunites ended up slinking off to the other side, while a few others remained with us.
We all started leaving around 3:30pm because the other side reportedly had plans to attack once our numbers dwindled and the cops had taken off. I have to say the SFPD did a great job and if not for them, the terrorists would certainly have gotten violent. That must be why SFV4I members driving by had their license plate numbers concealed.
But despite their efforts at intimidation, our enemies no longer go unopposed in this leftwing city. The San Francisco counter-protest movement is here to stay.
Then how about, all those who come sit under the 'Arab Tent', as Uday called it?
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
How can I get the book by StillProud2befree?
(To those drawing distinctions here, as it happens the Bay Area jihadists are almost entirely "Palestinians" and other Arabs. Most Persian, South Asian and African Muslims in these parts are seemingly fewer in number or less retarded or something, since you don't see them out making asses of themselves like you do the Arabs.)
Anyway there is another thread with photos (just click above on the keyword SANFRANCISCO for the link). I'll copy here my brief report of the day I posted there:
Somebody tell me these photos are real and this really happened.
These photos are real and this really happened. I was there. If anything the photos underrepresent the forces of good assembled at City Hall today, since they are so close up. There were perhaps 400 - 500 people on the side of sanity and truth. Of course, the beheaders and communists had a few thousand on their side, but this was far and away the best relative showing for our side at a major FRisco rally ever. (I know, I go to them all.) It was a beautiful day. The cops were great to us. They are a bit hyper about keeping the sides separated at protests these days, but some of the jihadi wannabes are pretty squirrely, so you can't blame the SFPD for being cautious. Still, we've had more fun in the past when we've gone toe-to-toe with the leftie psychos. Arguing with and belittling commies is fun, since they are often of normal middle-class American backgrounds - you can sometimes reach them with rational and moral arguments. The jihadis are a completely different matter, however. They are full of tribal blood-lust and hatred and are simply unreachable and incomprehensible. Those are the ones that make you grateful for a nice beefy line of officers between you and them. All in all it was a great day of FReeping in Goofytown. I hope there will be more pictures later at zombietime.com, your home for that special breed of idiocy for which the Bay Area is justly famous worldwide. Aloha!
See my reply #25.

Missed it by this much.
(in the voice of Get Smart)
I think we're arguing over nothing. The false religion of Islam must be destroyed.
How diverse. We must understand diversity.
Know your enemy.
Uday, like his father, like all Baathists, are Arab nationalists before being Muslim.
I don't understand your response in reference to Uday's call.
Well, I guess I need the full context of his quote then.

Thanks for the ping! That guy is great!
There should be no acceptance of the resolution unless it will be under the Arab tent. If not the Arab tent, then the Arab League.
As I thought, he's speaking in Arab nationalist terms. Think of it in Nazi terms. The Nazis wanted to unite all Germanic peoples under one regime. The Baathist regime under Saddam and his sons wanted to unite all the Arab peoples under their regime.
Violence at a Peace Protest?
