I had to run and check the kikkoman I have in the cabinet to see where it was made. I'm glad I still can make plans to make more yakimando!

My Chinese guide in Guangzhou told me that, LOL!

Americanized Chinese food is to Zhongwen Tsai as Taco Bell is to Mexican food...

As long as it tastes good and I don't know what's in them, I'll be happy. :)

But what I want to know is if it can be used for embalming fluid.

Oh wait, that's Worcester Sauce that should not be used for embalming fluid.

Shades of Fish Sauce! (You don't wanna know, believe me.)

Is that the same as fish juice the waitress served us when we were served in a Thai restaurant? She motioned like she was holding a fish up with one hand and squeezing it with the other hand. We turned four shades of green and immediately stopped dipping our egg roll in the "juice". GAK!

Yes.

But, after squeezing the juice from the fish they let it ferment.

Right out of the bottle it smells absolutely horrible.

But used in cooking it goes through some chemical change and really does enhance the flavor.

Strange stuff :)

And... INTO THE TRASH IT GOES!!

ALL OF IT!!

I know where my beef came from (next door) and my eggs come from (back yard) the rest is all suspect. I wonder if I’ll have anything left to put in the fridge by the end of all this?

We’ll be eating nuts and berries pretty soon...

"...although anchovy filets wrapped around a caper is one of my favorite appetizers."

Ever had olives stuffed with minced anchovies? I've only seen them as Spanish imports, but they are delicious. Somehow the combination tames both flavors. You must get people to try it before you tell them what it is.

I learned this the hard way. One day I was at a dollar store and came across some “Mens’ Multi-Vitamin” suppliment. For a buck it wasn’t bad. I started to take them but after the second day I started to feel ill. I looked at the bottle and it contained some strange sea-food ingredient that I had never hear of. NEVER AGAIN.
