IN the 1960s, my sister was part of the Free Speech Movement at Berkeley. She was arrested in a civil rights sit-in. Naturally, she was a lifelong Democrat.
Today, she is a 9-11 Republican. She is not alone.
My sister is no less committed to civil rights than before. But she believes that not being murdered by Islamist terrorists is also an important civil right. She is not sure that the Democratic Party completely agrees with her.
For 9-11 Republicans, this is the most significant political issue. The GOP gets it, while the Democratic Party doesn't.
Many recent former Democrats are astonished and a bit embarrassed to see where they have landed politically. The rest of the Republican program may leave them cold. They may have doubts about Bush's handling of the war, treatment of prisoners and everything else. But unless and until the Democratic Party fixes its national-security problem, my sister and others like her will not vote Democratic in November's congressional races, nor in the 2008 presidential contest.

"Granted but we are talking absent those things."
This constitutes a logical fallacy concerning Islam. Subjugation or murder ... why does this sound so familiar in the context of Muslim belief? Could it be that, since the very definition of "Islam" is "submission," and that since the Koran admonishes believers to kill all nonbelievers, in more than just a few instances, that subjugation or murder is the foundation of the religion, as it relates to the world outside of Islam, referred to as "Dar es Harb" or the world of war? What Muslim groups do not follow these "philosophies?" For that matter, what Nazi groups do not?
I know some life long democrats who are very unhappy with the democrat party. They are all socially moderate also, so a big tent philosophy would appeal to them.
What Muslim groups do not follow these "philosophies?"
Just off the top of my head the Druze are a sect of Islam that does not.
Big mistake.
Druze: Religious community generally considered to be Muslim but whose practices also contain elements of Christianity and paganism.
Democrats: The Party of 'Cut N Paste'. (From the Republican Playbook).
Likewise there are so-called Republicans who are willing to piss on the religious conservatives who helped them win elections so they can kiss the asses of liberal sacred cows...
What's more, if conservatives turn out in force, we could even unseat Sen Debbie "Dangerously Incompetitent" Stabinow. Nobody is talking about this now, but Mike Bouchard may pickup a Michigan senate seat for the pubbies.
The pic here is not a joke or parody: she actually stood on the floor of the Senate without a clue that the image could boomerang back on her
That's not what the article is about.
Suggest reading it.
Well, looks like you were right.
These pictures prove it.

Hit the nail on the head here...and even when they're told this is their problem the dems chose to place gaining power over protecting Americans.
Interesting sidebar on this person, one of many Jews that are disillusioned with the Democratic party but not quite ready to make the break - moving closer all the time, though:

"DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEEDS ANGRY LIEBERMANIACS
By Paul Kujawsky"
[excerpt]
Many Jewish Democrats are wondering, If theres no room in the Democratic Party for Joe Lieberman, what am I doing here? The Republican Jewish Coalition is ready with its answer. It has launched a nation-wide ad campaign that argues, "What was once the radical Leftwith its antipathy toward Israel, its indifference to anti-Semitism, and its desire to appease terrorists instead of fighting themis now emerging as part of the mainstream in the Democratic Party." Its designed to make Jewish Democrats ask, "Is this the political party I want to be part of?"
The answer remains yes. Dont give up.
The short answer is, yes.
What do you think socialism is? "Communism with a human face."
And don't forget, German National Socialism was a Left movement that walked a nationalist walk, to get all-important support from former Army officers. The animosity between Nazis and Communists was an ideological purity contest, the political equivalent of a brother fight. That's why it was so nasty: they were competitors, not enemies.
If those pics don't scare the bejeebers into you about islam being the world's enemy, nothing will. Worked for me, F.
