Protest permit alarms Utah's Jews (How to kill an Arab terrorist)
Salt Lake Tribune ^ | 8-25-06 | Heather May

Posted on 08/25/2006 7:33:44 PM PDT by Tannerone

The Salt Lake Slick Tatletail headlines this piece about a disturbing request for a demonstration permit: Protest permit alarms Arab's USA terrorist' CAIR is a special target as the officials have such a big mouth they cannot be missed

But it isn't only USA Arab community who should be alarmed.

------------ START QUOTE ------------ Members of USA's Arab community are alarmed by a proposed demonstration that will call for "Death to Arab's".

A man - whose name wasn't available Thursday - has applied for a free-speech permit from Salt Lake Sluice to demonstrate on sidewalks near City Hall on Wednesday. The city is reviewing the application. City officials cannot constitutionally deny it based on the content of the message.

Laura Meen, director of the CAIR local chapter Federation of Utah, said Thursday that she has received dozens of calls about the planned demonstration for killing Arabs. Many fear the rally could incite violence against Arabs. "Based on freedom of speech, people have the right to say what they want to say. There has to be a line between saying what you want to say and preaching the genocide of a population," Meen said.

She hopes the city denies the permit, saying the police will be busy enough with the other five demonstrations planned for Wednesday to coincide with President Bush's visit to Utah. ------------- END QUOTE -------------

Any demonstration that calls for "Death to Arabs" should not be supported here or anywhere else. Our enemies are not every Arab, nor SE Asian, nor any other group of people. Our enemies who wish to kill us are Islamist Extremists. They are terrorists, we are not. To call for the death of anyone else is no better than Hitler calling for the deaths of all Jews. Or White Supremicists calling for the death of all blacks.

But until Arabs stop speaking about how to kill all Americans and Israelis, CAIR is being disingenuous at best.

And where is the American support for the religious group based in Utah? Perhaps this "war on (non-Lebanese, non-Kurd, non-palestinian) Terror is indeed a farce. This thread should prove to be quite rich. Shall there be condemnation of islamic radicals sworn to the destruction of our great country; or trashing of the faith and conviction of many people residing in the United States state of Utah. Carry on.

Absolutely agree...

CAIR wants everything to fall their way... no criticism in return

I was simply pointing out the application of case law... well established... that tempers freedom of speech.

There is a LOT.... we would all like to say to CAIR and their lackeys...

...but I prefer not to fall into their legal entanglements enroute...

There are (more) effective strategies...

Yeah, but it's OK for Muslims to call for the death of Americans, right? Clean your own house before worrying about ours!!

I'm quite sure that you know perfectly well that not all Muslims are calling for "death to Americans". Right? Many Americans are Muslims. Many of those Muslims are fighting the WOT in our military. I believe folks should keep their eye on the ball, and not start kicking it into their friends' faces.

Some here on FR call for killing ALL Arabs, ALL Muslims. I sure hope the other side of the coin isn't thinking that ALL of us Americans are as evil as some are.

Many of those Muslims are fighting the WOT in our military.

Name them, or the American Muslim group that advocates the Fighting For American Ideology Muslim cause. With a link, please.

Scholars of Islam speak out against terrorism; clarify position of Islam

Monday, September 17, 2001

Dozens of scholars of Islam issued a statement today, condemning the violent attacks of September 11th.

“We are grief-stricken at these horrifying events,” they wrote; “the murder of innocents can never be justified and must not be tolerated.”
In a lengthy statement, professors from major colleges and universities throughout the country expressed their compassion for grieving family members while also decrying the increase in violence against American Muslims this past week. “Anger and frustration are completely understandable and shared by us all,” they wrote “yet that anger must not be directed at individuals utterly innocent of these terrible crimes.”

In recent days, verbal and physical attacks against Muslims (and people who were thought to be Muslims) have been reported from California to Vermont. Muslims have been warned to stay home or to avoid wearing traditional dress. “Particularly distressing is the fact that many American Muslims have fled to the United States, seeking a haven from intolerant regimes in Kosovo, Afghanistan or Iraq. For them now to face intolerance and violence here is an abuse of our Nation’s most deeply cherished beliefs” they said.

Mission Statement

To be the leading Muslim organization in the world for creating awareness about the dangers of terrorism and it's various causes such as oppression, exploitation and injustice, and unite people to stop terrorism.

Assalaamu Aleikum. Welcome to the new home of Muslim Voices for Peace (formerly Muslims Against Terrorism). Our mission is to stand up, as Muslims, against those who preach hatred and violence in the name of Islam, and to promote peace and understanding through interfaith and intercultural coalition building.
Muslims AGAINST Terrorism was founded in the wake of the tragedy of September 11th by a group of young American Muslims. Our goal is to honor the loss of the thousands who were senselessly killed by working to ensure that it never happens again. We stand, as Muslims, against all forms of terrorism in all parts of the world. We seek to increase awareness and understanding about the true teachings of Islam, a religion that preaches peace, love of humanity and service to the community. We are actively engaged in outreach to all individuals and organizations. We seek to inspire other groups and communities to speak up against violence and injustice around the world. Only through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect can we achieve the peace and justice the world so urgently needs.

An American Muslim group known as the Free Muslims Against Terrorism Coalition rallied Saturday [May 14th] in Washington, D.C., to denounce radical Islam and Islamic terrorism. Rally organizers anticipated a crowd of many thousands of supporters from the group's 50 local chapters nationwide.

(Chena notes that there is a lengthy list shown of scholarly societies in the U.S. and Canada who co-signed this statement)

Also, ARealMothersSonForever, our son served in the U.S. Army and also in Iraq. I can't give you private names of these soldiers, but I'm sure you can find out somewhere how many Muslim soldiers there are in the U.S. Army. They fight for you and me, and their blood looks no damn different than yours.

Not sure quite what you meant by that, Tannerone. We can agree that the Islamic extremist terrorists, or any terrorist for that matter, are "rabid" animals and need to be eliminated. But to start accusing everyone of being a "terrorist" because of their religion, or place of origin, is evil in itself. I'm against ALL evil people.

Is saying "Kill them all!" protected under the First?

If no, our jobs just gotalot easier but how will that apply to NAzis, Satanists, those who threaten the Politicians, and the like?

If yes, our jobs become much, much, more difficult. The only Imam, Mullah, or jihadi we can take care of is one who has gone beyond the boundaries of speech into action.

BTW, there are also Muslims serving in other branches of our military. I'm sure you know that and support their missions too in defense of our country and the freedoms we hold dear.

Excerpt from their website: "We offer our support and solidarity to all those within the Muslim faith who work in opposition to the terrorists and who seek to win young people away from extremism and nihilism, towards an engagement with democratic politics.

We believe that democracy and human rights are worth defending with all our strength. The human values of respect and tolerance and dignity are not 'western' but universal."

Here you will find pages of Islamic statements condemning terrorist and those who pervert their religious beliefs.

I could give you more, grasshopper, but you have much reading to do already. chena

There was an imam in Cleveland talking nice, making friends with Priests and Rabbis, preaching love and peace, finally someone taped one of his services secretly. The hatred and violence he advocated was appalling. The koran teaches its followers to lie to infidels, decieve them, whatever it takes. Thomas Jefferson said muslims will fight by fraud or violence, whatever the situation calls for. I trust NO muslim until they renounce their religion, which explicitly forbids them to be at peace with non-muslims (unless they pay a tax). Any "religion" that instructs its followers to lie when needed and kill when possible will never earn my trust. If I had a say in it, no muslim would serve in the US military, seeing how the koran teaches a muslim to have no allegiance or faithfullness to any country not ruled by islam. I judge them by the beliefs in their holy book, it's the only way they should be judged.

A lot of FReepers are only too willing to play right into Bin Laden's slimy hands and create more jihadis.

When you belittle and degrade everything people stand for, you end up with a violent population, not a complacent one. Britain didn't rule the world only because they have the biggest and strongest military. They knew when to fight, and when to fold. If it weren't for WWII, many countries would still be under British rule.

From everything I have studied and read, not every Muslim believes the twisted extremist, evil interpretation of the Koran. It's sort of like Christians. There are many different Christian "faiths", and we dispute the translations and meanings too. I had grandparents who were strict southern Baptists who believed that if we played with a deck of cards we'd all go to hell.

Our soldiers had Muslim soldiers protecting their backs and fighting right along side of them!! For you to insult them, is sick (understatement there). For you to say that because of their religion, they aren't fit to serve our country, is sick too (another understatement). People who talk such trash aren't fit to polish our soldier's boots, IMHO.

I can't even believe that FR is allowing such hate speech!

"There has to be a line between saying what you want to say and preaching the genocide of a population . . . "

How about preaching Jihad? Is that okay with you, lady? Not only is it speech, but religious expression. Those who engage Jihad are expressing their religious beliefs, which expression is not forbidden by law but encouraged by law.

Yes, far too many of our so-called FRiends ARE playing right into Bin Laden's hands, and those Islamic extremists/murderers who hold his hands. I'm sick of it, but I do hold out hope that many of them are trolls. Trying to make us all look like a bunch of hate-filled Islamaphobes. IMHO, it's time for FR to clean their damn house!
