CBS To Air Profanity-Laden Program (Complaint About "9/11" Documentary)
American Family Association ^ | August 2006 | n/a

Posted on 08/28/2006 7:22:45 PM PDT by Pyro7480

Not content with all the profanity already on TV, CBS has decided to air the profanity-laden unedited version of "9/11" on Sept. 10. The decision by CBS is a slap in the face to the FCC and Congress, which recently raised indecency fines to $325,000 per incident.

"9/11," which will be shown in prime-time, contains a tremendous amount of hardcore profanity. CBS has stated they have not, and will not, make any cuts in the amount and degree of profanity. CBS will ignore the law. The network is suing the FCC over the indecency law, saying they should be able to show whatever they desire whenever they desire. CBS wants no limits.

This is a test case for CBS to see how far they can go. If there is no out-pouring of complaints from the public, they will go further the next time.

Then perhaps these parents that you are speaking of should take more interest in what their children are watching.

I think the controversy the last time around was about the sounds of the bodies of the jumpers hitting the ground and the tops of the building when the fireman gathered in the lobby.

I believe you are correct

This has the only footage of the first plane hitting the towers.

As I recall, the "S" word is spoken aloud at that point. My virgin ears!

You have a real documentary of a tragic and horrific event with death and destruction everywhere, and people are worried about a few '4 letter words' being audible.

Immediately before showing "9/11", CBS should air the South Park "It Hits the Fan" episode. LOL.

What a dumb thing to complain about. 9/11 needs to be seen again, and not some bowdlerized version.

It's a set-up for future programming and a pretty transparent one at that, since they've already shown it sans the hardcore profanity.

When? Where?

Profanity is not a good thing for children, or anyone for that matter. It debases us as a whole.

That said, September 11th was a soul changing experience for anyone that paid attention. In that vein, you learn about a so-called religion, that is really just a cult. That disturbs me a whole lot more, than people in dire circumstances using profanity.

My son was 4 years old on that September morning, I vowed then to make sure he would never forget. I know it was like a movie to him that day at his young age, and I tried to amuse him with his toys and his friends that day. Horror on that scale, should not be on their plate.

I hid in the bathroom and cried my heart out on that day.

Now that he is nine, he wants to understand the causes of what happened on 9/11, and why it occured.

Life is tough. We plan on dealing with it, as we have since that day. Teach your child about this beautiful country. My son is interested in the Civil War, big time. Freedom will always come at a price. If they understand that, a few rough words won't harm them.

Not all profanity on broadcast TV has been ruled indecent by the FCC. When viewers complained to the agency about ABC’s airing of the profanities in the movie Saving Private Ryan, the FCC found that they weren’t indecent because of their context. Game. Set. Match. The FCC isn't going to do jack about this.

Good let them show it. I don't care about p*ssy ears anyway. They can shut off the tv. This adult can take profanity (as you can see).

Dang! I thought it was to refinance homes, help African billionaires and buy pills of dubious quality at a discount price.

4 is not old enough to understand what went on that day, even if they sat glued to the TV a child that age can not rationalize what is happening.

9, depending on the child, may still not full comprehend what happened but at that age it should be hidden from them, in fact, they should know the dangers we face in this world and in our own country. I've never found censoring reality from children is helpful.

With that said, if parents are worried about their young children hearing the cursing that took place that day, don't' let them watch the documentary. For those like you, who applaud, let them watch and try to explain to them what happened that day and why we are still fighting against fanatical Islamics.

I seriously doubt a child is going to wonder why some guy watching hundreds if not thousands of people dying before their eyes was cussing. They're most likely going to ask, why did it happen in the first place.

These are the same kooks who ran around for years saying that the government, including Slick Willie, blew up the Murrah Building in OKC. They said they knew some guy that knew some guy that had seismograph printouts showing that after McVeigh's truck blew up, there were secondary explosions from the government's secret bombs. But hey! It's better than having to work for a living.

"I don't think there is a "clean" version of this documentary. Let us be clear about that."

Either my memory is faulty, which is quite possible, or I do remember seeing this documentary on TV in 2001. There was NO profanity.

To my knowledge, the documentary does not have a "clean" version. It is raw footage from that horrible day

This documentary is so well done it will knock your socks off. I'm shocked here.... Mostly that there are so many people that haven't seen this beautiful documentary already.

The DVD of this visual 'document' has been widely available since early spring 2002. If you haven't seen this, where heck have you been? Do not miss it again.

P.S. It is not profanity laden.

"The FCC isn't going to do jack about this"

Why don't we wait and see what the local affiliates will do? They may do the bleeping the parent company won't do.
