WEEK 39 - Olney, MD, 9-23-06: Operation Infinite FReep: American Legion Saves the Day!!
Sept. 27,2006 | Trooprally

Posted on 09/27/2006 12:40:18 PM PDT by trooprally

Thanks to the help of the American Legion, my homeboys, we had a great day.

In attendance were Lurker Bill and Legionnaires Glenn, Halsey ,Frank and myself, Mrs T. I want to thank my guys for coming to the 3PM freep after attending an AL yard sale all day. They also had a function that afternoon at 5PM.

Even thought the wind was blowing and kept clouding up, the honks were outstanding.

We did give up going out for our morning Rapid Transformation Force. It was not done in the AM but we stood this afternoon. We wanted our loyal supporters to see us out there.

Nothing really happened until we got ready to leave when some man in a white car slowed down and yelled first to Glen, He has a hearing aid so did not hear.

Then Halsey heard Dodger!! He ignored him.

Next the man slowed by Frank and my self and heard Draft. Still we ignored the fool. Then he came to Lurker Bill and said very loud and clear, "Draft Dodgers". We all got a laugh out of that. Since all of us served in the Military! Glenn said "Yeah I am a dodger. I ran all the way to the recruitment center and signed up".

We missed Mr. T and Cindy-True-Supporter. Mr. Trooprally went to the Support the Troops Rally in D.C. But, next week will all be back to normal. Pics were by myself and Mr. T helped with this thread.

BELOW: Lurker Bill and Glenn, Iwo Jima vet, set up blue banner.

BELOW LEFT: Lurker Bill on Mr. T's regular corner. BELOW RIGHT: Glenn with Lurker Bill in background.

BELOW LEFT: Halsey, Korean War vet, with Glenn & Frank down the street. BELOW RIGHT: Frank, Korean War vet, with Glenn still down the street getting some early honks and waves.

Olney - What a great place to FReep

THE RAPID TRANSFORMATION FORCE WILL BE ACTIVATED THIS COMING SATURDAY.

REMEMBER
Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney Same time, 3 PM to 4:30 PM

RE: Olney FReep -

The Rapid Transformation Force WILL be up and FReeping this Saturday. Weather forecast is for sunny skies, so Mr. Bull Horn will be there.

We also need good crowds at the Olney 3 PM FReep for the next several weeks to help cover both corners. If you can make it, we would appreciate your presence. It might be a little dull without the moonbats there unless you are part of the RTF.

At least you know all the waves and honking are for us and that is invigorating.

If you live in northern VA and want a short cut to Olney See Post 39 Here. It's an easy 20 minute drive from the American Legion Bridge.

A special Thanks to BufordP for enhancing the original plain type directions.

The Archive of Olney FReeps is here or in the LINKS section of Trooprally's ABOUT Page.

This is an excellent FReep, especially considering that most of the rest of the DC Walter Reed regulars, as well as many FReepers from other states, were down in DC at the Support the Troops Rally at the same time. Kudos to you for holding down the fort in Olney, Mrs. T!

Only a stupid liberal would call a guy wearing an American Legion cap a draft dodger.

It's all mindnumb knee jerk responses from them.

The above addressed 5 FReepers have been added the the 5Fer Group.

They were at the Venezuelan Embassy on Friday afternoon, at Walter Reed Friday night and at the Support the Troops Rally on Saturday.

They were also at the post-Rally/10th FR Anniversary Dinner on Saturday night, but we're not counting that.

To become a 3Fer, one needs to attend 3 FReeps with no more than 24 hours between each. We don't want the FReeper to rest up or get any work done.

If you qualify since July 01,2005, let me know and you'll be added to list.

The updated list of 3Fers are:

tgslTakoma's MOABII; Albion Wilde; Apple Blossom; Armymarinedad; Armymarinemom; Bert; BMWcyle; bstien80; BufordP; Cindy_True_Supporter; concretebob; DollyCali; Iraqikurd; Jim Robinson; Justanobody; Kristinn; Leofl; Lurker Bill; Lurker Samir; Trooprally [Mr] & [Mrs]; \/\/ayne; Wheelbarrow; cf_river_rat; Syncro; Kudo's to 5Fer Justa: Freddie the cult man on Thursday, WR Friday, Olney Saturday afternoon, the White House Correspondence Dinner Saturday night and a solo FReep in Richmond Sunday afternoon.

Isn't that the truth!! One hi-lite I did forget to mention was a young man pulled his ID out and showed that he was in active duty still and kept honking and yelling thank you over and over again.
Thanks again.

Then he came to Lurker Bill and said very loud and clear, "Draft Dodgers".

When you think about it, signing up for military duty sure does take the Draft Board off your back! Interestingly, President Clinton figured out a unique way to dodge the draft. He had a draft number likely to be picked, so he joined the ROTC long enough that the draft number was canceled. Then he quit the ROTC and went off to England to lead "anti-war" protests. The next draft number they assigned was a "low" one unlikely to be picked.

Liberals say President Bush "dodged the draft" by joining the Air National Guard. But why would somebody fly fighter jets, a dangerous business even while training, to avoid danger? Especially when Air National Guard troops did serve in Vietnam!

Here's an mp3 of a funny radio play I heard the other day Duffy's Tavern - A Lady Visit's The Draft Board.

YES!

Trooprally is trying to entice me with a "special" brand of cigar to come out to Olney this weekend. Very tempting. But I should probably hold out until I start seeing those signs that I worked very hard on displayed in his After-Action-Reports, don't you think?

Sorry for the late response. I was in a class Mon-Wed.

Buford - Are you the "egg" or "chicken" as to which came first?

The signs you made need FReepers to hold them (when it isn't rainy) but you give me a hard time about not holding them when there are few Freepers in Olney.

Jeez - I think you are an 'egg', you definitely aren't 'chicken'.

But then again, you get sasha involved, trying to influence me. Cheap trick, but a good one. :-))

I'll have to plan better (i.e, get packed earlier in the day)to achieve the coveted "3fer" status. Kudos to (Mrs) trooprally for doing both the WRAMC and Olney Freeps despite residual pain from her fall.

Don't worry, sasha, TR put a smiley in his post.

It isn't that hard to get me to shut up. All TR has to do is use any one of my signs every once in a blue moon.

Notice how you can read it from the street.

:-)
(gratuitous smiley)

Just got a chance to listen to "Duffy". Funny & Long but good. Reminds me of Red Skelton. Thanks.

The idiot moonbats. This is the 3rd time they've said something while the truth is right in front of them.

They have tunnel vision and they don't see the patriot train heading straight for them.
