House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., requested Sunday that the Justice Department conduct an investigation into former Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record)'s electronic messages to teenage boys a lurid scandal that has put House Republicans in political peril.
"As Speaker of the House, I hereby request that the Department of Justice conduct an investigation of Mr. Foley's conduct with current and former House pages to determine to what extent any of his actions violated federal law," Hastert wrote in a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
ALL of the Demagogues everywhere should be extremely supportive of Foley -- he was merely confused, he thought he was a Democrat and he just wanted to follow in the ennobling traditions of Gerry Studds, Barney Frank, Mel Reynolds, Bill Clinton, et al in taking full advantage of his position to score some hot sex.
I despise Foley, but the Demagogues should rally around him the way they ralley around their own drooling, lustful scumbags:

Hassert says they were not aware of these IM's
He says someone knew about them and they asked the FBI for an investigation as to who knew about this and why they sat on the information
He says he will speak more on this issue when more info in know
They are setting up a hot line for anyone to report any other contacts pages had with Foley
I am getting a weird deja-vu feeling about this Foley incident. I would like to know what the democrats are really up to, and I suggest that some races might be subject to fraud or similar last-minute scandals.
I will check back in after dinner this evening. Any thoughts you guys have on this will be appreciated.
Thanks for the info on the Haster presser. I had to run an errand and missed it. Sounds like they are not going to take this lying down for once. YAHOO!!
Yep! I agree Miss Marple. Too much of the same thing from this liberal crowd. It's been SOMEthing at every election. It just seems they are too stupid to realize it doesn't work, and often backfires.
This too stinks to high heaven!!
The way it looks is someone sent the emails to mainstream newspapers first (in November??). When they saw no response, the emails were sent to gay websites. Both Blogactive and AmericanBlog say they have had the emails for two months. Two months ago is about the time that the now famous StopSexPreditors started his blog. Did anyone else find it strange that in his item about Skinterns that he writes" I came across the term searching another blog site. That post is below." The link is to FreeRepublic.
I have been avidly reading this thread and am astounded at the FReepers who have researched this issue. What a great job. Thank you so much. (I lurk but don't comment much.)
There really are some pretty amazing freepers!! You should post more!
You might want to go read this thread too....we are finding the 'actors' involved in this story as well.

They may not fight down and dirty, but at least the Republicans can move FAST when they want to. The hotline thing is a good idea, IF they can keep it from being overrun by moon bats.
I think it is time to find the 'tip' website that Hastert has set up. I'll be glad to forward the tip! These people knew long before and so did CREW. We have the proof already...it is time to tip off the DOJ and the house(imho)
I hope they got a court order to wire-tap Foley's IM system, the way they want to protect Al Queda. The timing is obvious. They released them after the deadline for the Republicans to get anther candidate on the ballot. We should invoke the Torricelli Gambit.
The ABC guy who broke this was just on their nightly news saying they had been getting emails from former pages and that there may be "other congressmen involved." Looks like the RAT October Surprise is just getting started. Hang on and don't let it get you down. We'll weather this storm and come out on top.
You forgot about the one who's boyfriend was running a brothel our of his basement. Or the one who made some nice cash by having ghost employees on his payroll Or the ones who made pocket change by cashing in unused postage stamps. And how can you possibly forget the one who killed a campaign worker by letting her drown in the back seat of his car!
I'd say that's a safe bet :(
Wow, how HEROIC!! Calling an investigation after it already came out to the entire world. Whadda guy!
/sarcasm
If he had done it 6 months ago, it might be worth something.
Read the rest of the thread.
Kolbe? Frank?
