I heard very much the same about GHW Bush and Barbra. I had heard Barbra referred to as "the Grandma everyone wished they had".
Ronald Reagan likewise was a kind gentleman to his agents. Nancy, well she was no Barbra that's for sure. She was not nearly as warm and friendly. She she was extremely protective of Ronald and wanted everything to be perfect. This perfectionism sometimes caused her to get upset about little things. But she did have a good heart.
That should read, I believe every word of YOUR post. Lazy fingers on the keyboard!
The skinny on Chelsea surprised me...
Was that in Russia?
I love it!!!
I'm sure they are - as to talking to the media and such.
But that doesn't mean they can't express their opinions or relate them to friends, family or as "unidentified sources" :o)
Not much of anything by way of surprises.
Would like to hear about Reagan, though. I'd say he was great. Nancy might have been, well, perhaps not quite as nice as Laura (not obviously not an Al or a Hillary)
This thing has been circulating the internet for years -- although I'm sure there is some truth to it -- you might want to exercise caution in circulating this "a good friend told me . . . " email.
What about the Barbara and Jenna? Don't they get watched, too? Are they mean? ;) (I know they're not, but the guys probably don't want to say...)
One of my all time favorite Bush moments!
(South America) I played that clip over and over..."Get your hands off him!"
Imagine that. Being nice to the people who hold your life in their hands. Not that they aren't every bit as kind in general as the article implies. But it only takes a little bit of brains to realize that if you want your guy to step in front of you when its going down, instead of hitting the ground, you might want to say "hey" every once in a while.
I figure she knows way too much about him for him to ever take a chance on her testifying against him.
While what you say is no doubt true, and not at all surprising, it still concerns me to hear of Secret Service agents gossiping this way. The safety of past, present and future presidents can easily be marginalized by their indiscretions. As much as most of us hate BJ and Hitlery, it would still be disasterous for this country if something happened to them as a result of a security breach.
Opinions are one thing...and that is fine...but details of this sort go beyond that. Do not get me wrong, as I stated, I believe this is the case and agree with it. But if we have secret service agents going into this level of detail with their neighbors, they are proving by their own actions, IMHO, that they are a significant security risk themselves.
Chile?
I had the pleasure to work the security detail for Bush 41 and also for candidate Clinton just prior to the election. Bush was a true gentleman who thanked each of us individually for our work just before he went "wheels up." Clinton, on the other hand, was a royal pain in the rear. While Bill was in town campaigning, Hillary showed up late in the evening. We (locals) were told by the standing detail that they had gotten into a hugh fight that evening and actually stayed on separate floors. In any event, he left before she did and I had the lead car in the motorcade to her private jet. As we were on the tarmac, one of her staffers tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I would like to shake Mrs. Clinton's hand as some of the Deputy Sheriffs were doing. I told him no thanks and kept my post. It was truly one of the highlights of my career.
All this has been hashed and rehashed....so what
is new? is are the press going to have something
similar to the Swift boat ads...for the sinking of
Hillary? Don't hold your breath...lots of talk,
but they cover their own A## and they will be mute
before and during the 2008 election,if Hillary is
the nominee.....no guts, no glory???? Jake
I think that was probably one of those "bonding, but we aren't going to talk about this" moments :')
