Liberal bloggers rip party over Lamont
Washington Times ^ | 3 November 2006 | Charles Hurt

National Democrats have abandoned their anti-war Senate candidate in Connecticut, say liberal bloggers who earlier this year were heavily courted by top Democrats in their quest to take over Congress.

Democratic nominee Ned Lamont -- darling of the left-wing blogosphere -- now trails Sen. Joe Lieberman by 10 points or more, and the highly energized bloggers who helped win him the nomination in August blame the national party.

Matt Stoller, a District-based blogger, wondered this week why Mr. Lamont is getting trounced.

"Well there are a number of reasons, but among the most prominent is the total abandonment of Lamont by the party establishment," he wrote in a blog posting at Direct Democracy (www.mydd.com). "Let's be very clear -- this is not Lamont that they are abandoning, it's the party primary voters that they are abandoning."

Liberal vitriol in recent weeks has been directed at some of the Democratic Party's most beloved figures, such as former President Bill Clinton, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Sen. Charles E. Schumer of New York and even rising star Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

"We have all been angry for some years now about being stabbed in the back by the Democratic Party in Washington," liberal blogger Sandra Yolles wrote in the comment field to Mr. Stoller's post. "We are angry that they have not fought for our values, for our ideals, for our Constitution, for honest elections, for the people who elected them."

"blame the national party."

Democrats the party of no personal responsibility, always blaming someone else. At least they are consistent.

Teach them a lesson and vote for the libertarian or better yet stay home. Curse both their houses.

It's interesting to see how the left and the right sometimes use similar languagewords

. The words are the same but the meaning each attributes to the words is not the same language.

Lamont's CT campaign is beginning to look like Alan Keyes IL campaign, that is, the party nominee can't figure out the primary is over and he needs to appeal to the general electorate. They keep throwing the same red meat to their base over and over again.

Keyes: Homosexuality is sin!!! End abortion!!!
Lamont: Get us out of Iraq!!! Out now!!!

This should give a prime chance for Schelesinger to win, except the stupid party has decided Lieberman should get all our votes due to agreeing with us on one issue.

They've abandoned him because they know he's gonna lose.

Hillie had Lament up to Westchester a while ago. I don't recall ever seeing a photo from that meeting.

They didn't so much abandon Lamont, they just stayed out too much to suit the left. The DNC was smart enough to realize that the only way they could "lose" was alienate Joe enough to caucus with the Republicans if he won.

"But the total abandonment by the party establishment of their sitting Senator and 2000 Vice Presidential candidate is AOK?"

That's what primaries are for. It was obvious the establishment wanted Lamont for one reason. That was his anti-war stance and they wanted to ride his coattails.

Once it be known that it wouldn't fly, they realized that Lieberman is going vote lib anyway except on the war, they may have a winning position on Iraq without Lieberan, so might as well throw Lamont to the wolves.

He served his purpose.

I think that most of the conservative voters understand the stakes and are voting Republican even if they have reservations.

For all the talk on talk radio about the success of Red-state Republicans, I cant help but think that the leftist professors and public school teachers are having an effect on the rate of lib-Democrat weenies being created in this country.

I've spent a lot of time in the past two weeks handing out literature and signs for my local Republican Congresscritter (Mike Fitzpatrick, a fabulous conservative) and it apalls me how brainwashed some of these young people are.

Of course, the other Dem-lovin' group seems to be oldsters who are stuck in the politics of the 40s 50s and 60s.

Some of the most vocal moonbatish people I met out on the volunteer campaign trail were old people who had a viceral almost physical hatred for all things GOP.

Just yesterday, these two old men practically threw the (GOP) literature back in my face, and then proceeded to call any and every Republican a "mid-evil devil", etc.

The Liberal Bloggers are so very correct. The Democrat Party uses the Liberal Bloggers and abuses the Liberal Bloggers. When the Democrat Party needs money, the Liberal Bloggers are tapped; When the Democrat Party needs ideas, the Liberal Bloggers brainstorm; When the Democrat Party needs to take to the streets, the Liberal Bloggers mobilize. Subsequently, the Liberal Bloggers get stiffed when their candidate wins the CT Senate primary over the establishment candidate. No Justice.

..why so many counties are mandating absentee ballots only.

My theory as to why lib-Dems love absentee ballots so much is that they can be so easily fraudently filled out.

In 2004, the Dem-Kerry operatives here near Philly were caught going into prisons trying to get absentee ballots filled out.

And then there was another Dem-lib guy here in Penna. who was found guilty of filling out ballots in an old folks home.

And could anyone see what would happen if you simply handed out absentee ballots in any major US city?

I would predict 102-percent would come back marked Democrat.

No, absentee ballots should ONLY ONLY ONLY be for the truly sick or disabled, or perhaps traveling salesmen types who cant get home for the election. Or the military, of course, and overseas workers.
