Are you sure about that? I don't know, one way or the other. The reason I ask is that last night other FReepers were saying that by law VA has to count the absentees along with the other votes, not later.
The MT SoS is a bit slow, you can google the site. My source is CNN.
Absentee votes are a lot higher than normal (which is consistent with voter turnout) and I heard on the radio this morning that in south Florida the absentee ballots are tending solidly GOP (and south Florida is not exactly a GOP stronghold).
If Allen hadn't said "macaca", he might have scratched himself wrong and the media would have made it an issue.
No.
On CNN, with 96% reporting, Burns is behind by just 1507 votes and it's DWINDLING!
Overseas absentee votes ...
counted in VA, not yet counted in MT
IN VA election people must receive ballot by election day
IN MT ballot must be postmarked by election day and received within a week of the election
As far as I know, they have not all been counted yet.
I voted absentee for the first time in S. Florida.....
Montana Code Annotated 1997
13-15-105. Notices relating to counting board for absentee ballots. Whenever a counting board for absentee ballots is appointed under 13-4-101, the election administrator shall:
(1) publish in the contracted newspaper of the county as provided in 7-5-2411 a notice indicating that such a method will be used for counting absentee ballots;
(2) post in a conspicuous location at the office of the election administrator, by 5 p.m. of the day before an election, a notice that indicates the place and time the counting board for absentee ballots will meet on election day. The notice must inform the public that any person observing the procedures of the counting board must be sequestered with the board until the polls are closed and the counting board is released and must take the oath provided in 13-15-104.
History: En. Sec. 6, Ch. 120, L. 1983.
well CNN map show 99% in and Burns still behind by 1500 votes so we have to hope those absantee ballots have not been counted....
Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad somebody on this thread knows this stuff!
hence the absantee ballot have been counted??
Not necessarily true.
The Repubs had a record to run on, such as a record-high DOW stockmarket index, no attacks on US soil for five years, near record low unemployment, tax rates low, business thriving, and passage or the 700-mile southern border fence.
Unfortunately, the only place any of those fabulous things were mentioned with any regularity was on conservative talk shows, which regardless of their popularity with Republicans, is NOT listened to by a majority of American voters.
In 1996, and to some extent in 2000, the AP, Reuters, PBS, LA Times, NY Times, Philly Inquirer, PMSNBCABCCBS, etc. constantly ran as their TOP STORIES the supposedly great things that the Democratic administration had accomplished.
CNN:
Tester 190,486 49%
Burns 188,900 48%
99 percent precincts reporting
Down 1,586 votes
CNN is showing all precincts in though on the county by county page. They are all at 100%. Absentees may still being counted. If not, not good.

So yes. They have been counted by the time the polls close according to the above link.
Meagher still 0 %. Yellowstone at 94 %. Everything else in. Dem lead 1,586.
cmon Yellowstone!
MsNBC reported late last night that absentees were already counted
