#81 at Walter Reed - November 3, 2006
Dang, it was cold!
Lovely skyline pic by Trooprally [Mrs]
Yes, it was a dry, very cold night on Georgia Ave. Unbeknownst to us, our fearless (literally!) D.C. Chapter leader Kristinn was winging his way to Iraq! No foolin', Iraq! Read his reports #1 and #2. This was a trip sponsored by our good friend Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward and included Gold Star parents who wanted to meet with the brothers and sisters with whom their own children fought and died. The parents wanted to see for themselves what it was like and thank the troops for their hard work as well as bring the message of US support directly to the Iraqis.
Way to go, Kristinn!
Wounded Warriors Neil and Jody holding the most famous pic of the week. Maybe the year! They had not heard Kerry's slanderous attack on their intelligence and once filled in, they had some unprintable responses. Thanks guys! We really appreciate you and the time you spent with us tonight!
More FReepers & FRiends showed up (26) than pathetic Pinkos (9). If I missed anyone - please let me know!
The whole list of FReepers & FRiends in attendance tonight:
Barbara* from VA, Bill* from MD, BillF and FRiend Bob* from PA, chcknhawk & family (4), Cindy-true-supporter, Craig* from DC, Fraxinus, Freeping_In_Silence, George & Ethel*, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, maica, olgaesq01, PleaDeal, Sensei Ern, staytrue, TFroatz, tgslTakoma, Tolerance Sucks Rocks, Trooprally [Mr. & Mrs].
Here are my pics from the night. As always, the multi-talented Trooprally [Mrs.] digitally captured much more of the event and her pics are here.

The Bus from Fran O'Brien's kept us on the corners until well after 10pm. It's always worth a few frozen toes and fingers to see the smiling faces of the warriors and their kin drive by.
We'll be back out at Walter Reed Friday night, November 10th, from 6:30 until at least 9:30 at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, NW in Washington, D.C. Friday should be a special night because...
Its the 231st Birthday of the United States Marine Corps!
Come prepared to be the FEW, the PROUD, and the LOUD! OORAH!
The wounded warriors inside the hospital are heartened by the sight of ordinary citizens cheering for them and displaying our heartfelt thanks for the service and sacrifice they've made on our behalf. On the eve of Veterans Day, there's no better place to go to say Thanks! to a whole bunch of young Vets.
A couple hours this Friday night is very little to give compared to what they've contributed!
As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Keeping the BIG LIST: All DC Chapter Walter Reed FReeps - c/o BufordP.
Thanks PleaDeal, enjoy seeing the pictures!
Great job. We're trying to get there Friday providing the traffic doesn't turn us back.
Like a layercake
Almost
Or an "upsidedown cake", whoops!!
Someday.... You guys and gals ROCK!! Thank you!
Thank you for writing our 81st Walter Reed Freep report, Plea Deal. Now, much more than ever before, it's important that we continue to stand up and show our support for our brave troops and their mission.
Please join us this Friday (and every Friday that you can) and show our troops that Americans care, regardless of what Nancy Pelosi, Jack "Cut 'n Run" Murtha, John Kerry and Dingy Harry Reid say to the contrary.
Buuump!
"Dang, it was cold!"
I was going to tell you 'bout that.
Maybe I'll just throw up a lame-assed weather forecast a day or two prior...
Nah..
Thanks for that posting.....I think now more than ever we need to STAND UP for our TROOPS and FREEP! I just have that feeling that they are going to need our encouragement and Support now more than ever!! Now that the dems are pretty much in control they are going to really going to rake GW over the coals...as per Murtha Scumbag's conversation with Chris Matthews today. They plan to launch inquiries and an all out attack on Bush and all the Republicans from the bottom up on how we went into Iraq illegally, etc. The Msm is really starting to pull the throttle out full bore to help the dems out as never before too.
That's why every time I have the opportunity to Freep....I will take part. When I go to the airport to pick someone up......while I'm waiting for the plane to land....I've got my trusty little SUPPORT the TROOP signs in my car trunk and I take them in and hold them up in the airport as a reminder to all passing in and out, that they should Support the Troops!! One lady that just came in from Hawaii....came up to me and thanked me for being there, exclaiming that I was a sight to behold, 'cause when she boarded at Hilo...code pink and their ilks were there with all their rude talk and rude signs! She was so glad to see that someone was at the end of her flight actually Supporting the Troops!
BTW, those five signs are the same signs that I had when Kristinn, JimRob, basil, syncro, myself,MAF and all went to Crawford, TX to the 'You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy' tour......they're still holding up and still being put to good use!!
Keep up the good work....you guys and gals always do a superb job at WR!
Thank you so much for being there & for this report. I would be with you each week if it were possible.. I and so many others here at FR appreciate your work & labor OF LOVE there. I hope more of the locals (hour or less away?) will make it a priority to join the fun each week!
OUTSTANDING!
BTTT
Thanks to all of you who take the time to 1) show our troops that they are appreciated, honored and heroes and 2) confront the deluded liars of Code Pink.
Understanding the grit and determination of the DC chapter to keep on keeping on, now that the election is over will the loonies continue?
Traffic should be light since it's a Fed holiday.
As Plea Deal wrote above, I'm certain the Code Pinkies will be out rejoicing over the election results. They probably think we're fair-weather supporters, despite all history to the contrary. I'm planning on spending my Federal holiday on the street corners with the DC chapter. BTW,Plea Deal, thanks for the reminder about the Marine Corps birthday!
BTTT!! Great report!
Ditto JVB - OUTSTANDING! A one woman FReep rally!!!!
