What do you think we should do with Iraq?

Well, I see everyone has their own opinion on what we should do in Iraq. So I figured I'd start a central thread for all ideas, comments, and debate.

If the Mods don't like it, or think it's no good than they can delete it.

Very Easy......

Pit the Kurds in the North against the Shite's in the South. This will limit Iran's influence and also limit al-Sadr's influence. This would also keep Turkey happy. This requires CIA intervention.

Use strong force against al-Sadr as he represents gangsters and criminals. Enough said.......

Treat Christians and other minority groups well as they are more representative of a secular country. This could also foster better international relations.

Well, this is what Sadaam did?

1) Quit sending our soldiers out on patrol to act as targets.

2) Seal the borders with Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia. Guard major crossing points with manned, fortified positions. Guard the open parts with electronic and photo surveillance. Vaporize anything that crosses without our permission.

3) Pull the rest of the forces back into defensive only positions to protect the government institutions and infrastructure.

4) Encourage those who want to fight to have at it. Give them one year to settle it and have new elections.

5) If they cannot settle it, install a dictator to rule them by the sword.

What ever it takes. Then stay as long as necessary to make it a FUNCTIONING Nation State able to defend itself, its borders, and it's people.

Any other questions? ;)

That will have the terrorists coming here. REAL fast. They will know then we don't have what it takes to fight them. They win. BAD idea.

WOW. That is speaking their language! Seriously, they know little else. That would work for sure, I can not argue. Might give us some serious problems in the rest of the world, but it would work. But then as I think about it, we have fewer problems with the rest of the world when we tell them all to F~ off and just do what we have to do. Make them fear us and they will be AFRAID to attack us. Its a winning strategy I have to admit.

set up two hoesteading zones in IRAQ:
one for relocated jews and one for relocated
illegal aliens deported from US. 100 acres for planting a crop.

Tell the others, IRAN... same policy for them.

Well I don't know about all that.

I'll just say that I shake my head at armchair generals who sound off about foreign policy and work in a grocery store.

I don't try to tell career politicians, experts on foreign policy, CIA agents, or US Generals how to conduct foreign policy. I work in a cubicle in NC. I am not arrogant enough to believe that my ideas are divine inspiration that nobody else has thought about and are going to fix everything.

The only way I can help the Pentagon is if they need some tires.

More people just need to know their place.

"What do you think we should do with Iraq?"

Pull all troops from Baghdad and move them to the Iranian border. Then announce a callup of an additional 250,000 troops as well as deploying anti-missile batteries.

Then increase the naval presence in the gulf and tell the UN Israel has a free hand to do what it has to do to get rid of Hamas and Hizbollah. And mention the French better leave Lebanon now.

Other then that, pull the remaining troops out of South Korea, announce that North Korea won the war and move all european bases eastward except for the bases in Great Britain.

Oh, and arm Taiwan with nukes.

Sure, just as soon as we get out of these difficult and unacceptable living conditions.

Right now we are roughing it, there is only black and white TV in the BOQ, and the chow hall is serving steak only once a week. It's tough....

A regime change in Iran would solve 90% of the problem in Iraq.

We need to install our own dictator; one who has the ability to stay alive and keep control of the country, and to hell with how he does it. A tyrant won't do anything to these people that they won't do to each other, and they only behave when they're afraid to do otherwise.

Then tell the public we're killing al Qaeda every day

This is a complaint that I've had for a long time. I believe that a lot of the negative feeling about Iraq is caused by the belief that our guys are standing around waiting to be killed. Body count went out of fashion with Viet Nam, but I'm nostalgic.

And then Iran is drawn in to defend the shia? Then after they all kill each other, we can deal with the Kurds. This scenario is not without its attractions.

I say we send in some special ops supply or logisticians experts--it is always supply's fault--they could infiltrate the enemy and bring them to their knees within a week simply by "doing their job".

I would set up shop in Kurdistan. Big Airbases, lots of concrete, parked tanks, free innoculation shots, American troup patrolling a DMZ between Turkey & Kurdistan, the whole 9 yards. If our Turkish "ally" invades our new Kurdish ally when we're busy helping them create another autonomous zone in Iran, well, they have to cross that there DMZ & kill Americans to do it.

There is a way to get the french off their omelettes and *help us* and help Iraq. It's actually pretty easy. In their mind, by having us ask them to police this new democracy, it proves (only to them) that the whole plan was a failure. The key is it's only IN THEIR Minds, just let them think that and who cares what they think? The French & Germans & whoever else is reluctant to send troups would send in their police forces and it frees up American troups to really kick some booty. If a sector gets too hot, you rotate the French out, put in the Italians, rotate them out and put in the South Africans, rotate them out and put in the Koreans. Once the sector has seen 4 or 5 different cultures policing their back yard, they will forget how much they hate Americans and start focusing on building a democracy. And if we're on the 4th rotation of police forces, the sector is obviously hot enough to warrant some military attention.

I doubt the lame stream media would focus on the casualty rates of Korean & Italian police officers in Fallujah. That brings up another thing. Bring back the embedded reporters. Don't ever give out press releases to the bozos in Hotel Hussein, but only deliver information to guys who make it out to the field with the grunts.
