I will not name names but you can easily recognize them from their defeatist posts. I've come up against them on here several times. Believe me, they're around.

"What will happen if we leave Iraq before we achieve complete victory?"Define "complete victory"...substantively, objectively, and without emotion, if you please.

When President Bush stated that this will be a long war and a different war he wasn't kidding. This was IS WWIII and it will not end in our lifetime so long as most people refuse to understand what it is all about. Absolutely correct.

Yes to all of the above they certainly are. But failure to learn from the inevitable failures in a war is a part of defeat. The president seems to be getting this and is putting out a good plan. Better late then never.

I am just glad to see this thread get to over 100 posts without being hijacked by a Illegal Immigrant rant.

Many, many "conservatives' justify their defeatism that way. Exactly, they cover their defeatist attitude with their "Macho Talk" but at the end they call on us to leave Iraq and handle the terrorists their ultimate victory.
Everyone should read post 47 by "txrangerette", she hit the nail right in the head.

The WOT is lost That is exactly the defeatism that I was talking about. You just gave aid and comfort to the enemy by saying the War on Terror is lost.

I agree, any American who doesn't agree with JV in all things Iraq is a traitor.

we wouldn't have carried WWII on to victory, because that war was tragically ill-foughtThere were certainly tactical blunders in WWII, but FDR never enabled Nazi sympathizers in the same way we do with the likes of CAIR.

My point is if you have made a post with no substance, and you have admitted yourself that it had no substance, perhaps it's better to just click on by.

Good morning.
"Many defeatist believe that if we leave Iraq it will be just a civil war where Iraqis will be killing each other..."
Far too many people refuse to accept that the bottom line is that we are in a war for survival against an enemy that believes fully that God is on their side. Iraq is just a battlefield in that war.
Our war fighters seem to get it but the Left doesn't want the rest of us to. Why is that? If we leave Iraq we lose the war and the enemy will come here to destroy us.

This is a gambit which is late arriving on the scene. I support it. I worry that the troops hands will still be tied and that will doom the effort. My initial comment was "the level of brutality necessary to subdue the Islamists is not something the old USA can muster up the courage for". Fighting house to house will generate casualties not victory. Eventually the solution will be nuclear, no amount of house to house will get Islam's attention. I expect that soon Israel will have to break out the nuclear inventory to protect itself and re-fashion the Iranian landscape. If Iran goes nuclear, these Islamic nutcases will drop one somewhere. Al-Sadr is still alive, when he is dead I will know Bush is serious and we have a chance in Iraq. He has little time. 2008 can bring devastation to the USA as the fifth column takes control of the WH.

Yes, it would be better if you did that.
