or unfortunately coming from some conservatives

The disgruntlement coming from this Conservative does not come from any thing approaching 'defeatism' it comes from the lack of courage of convictions or over concern with PC crap that is preventing us from going after the terrorists in a complete and more total method.

No most conservatives displeased with the WOT are more concerned with doing more, not seeing us defeated.

Dude, we're still a free people and it's okay to debate what our government's policy should be.

That's very true - but now we are debating our nation's very survival - not just a "government policy" like taxes or Social Security.

How much "debating" about fighting the Nazi's was going on in 1943?

I would be willing to bet not much.

Many Americans have no concept of what losing in Iraq will mean to our own comfy lives here in this nation. We must win or face miserable changes and deadly consequences.

Ok, please define what you mean by "losing." Do you mean military defeat where there is a US surrender and all of our military lay down their weapons? or do you mean the sort of losing that took place in Viet Nam? or something else?

also

based on the answer above, please expand on the scenario that you see happening as a result.

exactly. It's to be expected that the premier site for conservative intellectual thought would attract disruptors trying to promote their own treasonous agenda.

Fellow Free Republic members, we are fighting the most important war since WW II. We are not fighting for the Iraqis in Iraq but we are fighting for ourselves, for our freedom and for our way of life. Let us all support our President and our brave troops because they need our support now more than ever.

This paragraph says it all.....I hope people wake up before it's too late!

I agree with the breakdown of Defeatists versus those who want to fight to the end and achieve complete victory, however the “Defeatists” unfortunately are very loud and they are all over the place.

This country needs a version of FR on the airwaves. Then your words might reach their target, only a very few of the target being here on the site. The people we need to convince, and to brace up too, are not here. They're in their homes and in their cars, longing for some protein-rich talk radio and credible news about things that matter.

Keep up the good fight jvertas! Thank you for doing your part in translating those documents and also in understanding the broader picture regarding the war in Iraq.

Those who say, "Saddam didn't attack us." simply do not or refuse to understand the nature of the enemy. The enemy is EVERYWHERE. The enemy is "radical" islam and its proponents. There is NO political solution since it is an ideology with very specific goals (which have been told to us repeatedly) that we are fighting.

The "rules of the game" are not the same as in a "normal" war. It is imperitive to understand the rules the enemy plays by and to understand that they have a very different belief system than we do. Their ultimate goal is world domination of Islam and a worldwide Caliphate with under Sharia law. Most people refuse to acknowledge this and until they do winning will be very difficult.

When President Bush stated that this will be a long war and a different war he wasn't kidding. This was IS WWIII and it will not end in our lifetime so long as most people refuse to understand what it is all about.

It's like Rush always says.. it is human nature to glom on to the negatives of life. It takes alot of hard work to stay positive and be successful. Most Americans have become like spoiled children, unwilling to work hard to get what they want, they just want to kick and scream til they get what they want.
It's not a winning strategy and one that should be politley shoved in every malcontents face here on Free Republic and in our public lives.

With the Democrats in control, FREEDOM is rapidly FLEETING!

So, pull you head out of what ever orifice you currently have it, and support this critical point in our history, or else go join the other side. (You may already have.)

As some one who supports victory without qualification I am a little disturbed by your suggestion that we give blanket support for the president. If his plans fail in Iraq like they have so far, we have a duty to point this out and push him to take the kid gloves off of our armed forces and to push for a plan that works. I wonder how many people here who scream at anyone who criticizes the handling of the war thus far would be doing so if Bush had a D after his name

Bingo.

Winning in Iraq is too important to sit by while Beltway clowns give the circus away. Failure and incompetence have consequences, and they'll affect us all. FR would be a President bashing powerhouse if the war was conducted exactly as it has been so far, but with a D at the helm.

"No most conservatives displeased with the WOT are more concerned with doing more, not seeing us defeated."

You are correct here. Yesterday, I read where our troops had captured and detained 28 insurgents. My question is "Why did we detain them, why didn't we kill them?"

I don't think anyone here is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Without specific examples, it is nothing but hot air and smoke.
