Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

Perhaps it's time to spit back.

Morning!

Well after scanning the news the consensus is that the MSM over-blew the meaning of the march. CBS for example, tried to say it represented the nation's cry to end the war while ignoring the right to life anti-abortion march the previous week that had twice as many people. Hypocrites all.

There are single Churches in America that have more members then showed up at this rally and they don't offer a free nights stay in DC on a $50.00 bus trip to bored college students.

As for the spitting incident..it was just lame. Defiling the steps should land the perps some probation time.

1. Where in the first Amendment does it give you the right to spit upon a serviceman

A. I doesn't and I never said it did.

1.1 or give aid and comfort to our enemies?

A. That, I believe, is also mentioned in the Constitution under "Treason."

2. You better give a damn about their hissy fits, they're burying us.

A. They laughed at Nikita Kruschev too.

3. What's it going to take to get all motivated, all we find is platitudes here

A. IMHO, when/if the nominate Hillary, that should do the trick.

My kneejerk answer is that libs outnumber conservatives about 10 to 1 in the DC Metro area. Probably some of the "protestors" came only to see the celebs and get autographs. Our society "worships" these people, which I find just as disturbing.

Thank you for your account and thank you for defending America and our war against terror.

I wish I could have been there to support you and the Vets. It's a shame that so many living near by could not take the time to counter protest the enemy within.

Maybe it's time for the Freepers to plan a big rally in DC like we did during the Clinton years. I would be happy to help organize the New England folks.

Thanks again to Kristinn and all that participated on Saturday.

I wish I could have been there to stand with you guys. But it's kind of a long drive from AZ. You guys did great and YOU know that you stood up for your country and your kids know and your grandkids will know.

We had the same thing happen here in my little town in AZ. We knew the moonbats were coming to protest the troops and we put the word out long before the Sunday morning event. I pinged every FReeper in Arizona, we had emails go out to hundreds of Republicans and Veterans in my town. Protest Warrior out of Tucson had secured all four corners without letting the moonbats know and we were going to try to shut them out.

We had about 2-3 dozen show up for our side, but nearly every one of them was from Tucson and had driven all the way down - a 1.5 hour drive. The end result was, we couldn't hold the corners and we were surrounded by moonbats several times. The police, at first, would not keep them divided from us and completely ignored the permit we had and the lack of permit for the moonbats' event. We had the parents and family of a Marine who died in Iraq there and they were treated pretty badly by the moonbats. They weren't spit on, or anything, but it was awful what the moonbats will say to people like that. And the police seemed hostile to us. In fact, they almost arrested the Marine's father who started yelling at the police after the police had treated him pretty badly.

We DID succeed in disrupting the moonbats' event considerably and really raining on their parade. But we did so with far few numbers and would have had much better success if people could have got off their butts and come down and held a damned flag or sign to support the troops and denounce the traitors.

Don't give up the good fight. You know what you're doing is right. And even if you have to stand alone, you'll still stand with God.

I have to wonder if all the conservative organizations out there made a true concerted effort to have a huge rally in DC or elsewhere, could we not turn out millions potentially? I would love to see it but perhaps prospective organizers realize these events ultimately have no lasting impact.

Thanks to the few brave souls who did stand up to the America haters this weekend. You are to be commended.

Drudge played some audio from this freak show on the radio last night. The wretched Fonda has the nerve to call the Bush administration "mean and vindictive" when it is her own people who spat on a veteran. Meanwhile I have to wonder, if the administration were truly vindictive, wouldn't Jane and countless other people from that rally be in prison now?? If they weren't so dangerous they would almost be funny.

In addition to the list by Hugh Hewitt please call Senator Brownback's office.
Senator Brownback's Contact

Yesterday he was on Fox News Sunday. He stated that we need to work towards meeting with the left on Iraq. His most shocking statement was "We are now seeing the first street protests against the war"

ANSWER has been protesting the war since we invaded Afghanistan. The protest held in DC 2003 was actually larger than the one held this year.
Do not let him get away with ignorant talking points about the antiwar movement.

I think a huge rally could be arranged if we all worked together.

I bet Sean Hannity would be more than happy to promote it and be the key speaker. It will take a lot of organization and work, but it most certainly would show America that our country isn't comprised of antiwar communists.

What we have to keep in mind, is that we don't have the big buck donors to provide buses, lunches and a stipend to attend our rally. This will have to be done with people who can arrange and pay for their own transportation.

Let's put our heads together. The time has come.

AMEN. They call themselves "Peace Marchers", but they are anything but peaceful.

In today's (1-29-07) The Examiner Washington DC addition Pg 9, Webb: Protestors signify public united against Iraq War plan. "Viginia Democratic Sen. Jim Webb said protestors who flooded the streets of the District Saturday represented a public more united against the course of the war in Iraq than during the Vietnam War protests of the late 1960s and early '70's"

Just a friendly word of advice....you're posting in the big leagues. Choose your words carefully or you'll be zot material. Kristinn ROCKS. OUT LOUD.

Kristinn, I'd have flown in if I had the money. I was thinking of y'all and praying for you down here in Kentucky.

We had a Support the Troops Rally this past September. We had several FR threads about it, sent out media and Milblog releases, and tried to get some conservative talk shows to mention it.

And we got a 100 people!!

Diana Irey even took time out from her campaign in PA to attend.

So Saturday's small crowd was just another disappointment. Kristinn puts a lot of work into his planning. But without a budget, one can only do so much.

Some how we need to get a deep pocket conservative to step up and get a paid organizer.

FWIW, my patriot friend, Carlie (mom of 3 military sons and a military husband), myself and a Viet Nam Veteran...

..literally held a tiny concrete island in the middle of a busy main thoroughfare during the 2004 election.....holding our signs & waving.

The moonbats arrived--(we heard they were bused in)- outnumbered us ....got in back of us....got ugly--shoved/yelled....and attempted to push us into the street!!

The Veteran was hopping mad....so were we.

The police arrived....sized up the situation....and told the moonbats to BACK OFF! or he would arrest them!

It was a small but exceedingly gratifying victory.

I would have NEVER brought wounded vets any where NEAR a leftist anti war rally

These heroes weren't BROUGHT by any of us--they came of their own volition to defend their brothers-in-arms and this country. Josh DEMANDED to be there, as well as the other wounded vets. Their passion and dedication to this country puts us ALL to shame and I am proud that I was there to help them.

You have reason to be angry about the turnout.

That said, having health problems that preclude my walking and especially standing for any great length of time, I'd try to be with you guys for just a little while if I had a shorter drive than 5 hours. Especially on a weekend because I work too. Point being, everyone has their own story.

I've posted my admiration and awe of the DC FReepers. That is completely sincere.

Don't be angry or discouraged. 40 people is a good showing. The leftwing rent-a-mob set can always pull together a crowd, because they live for this stuff. Light a candle - don't curse the darkness. Give yourself a pat on the back and keep doing what you are doing!!
