I can understand you making a judgment over a person using the gesture, however we were discussing a stick figure cartoon. ENTIRELY different, dontcha think?

You are free to profile folks based on any criteria you desire. I do so freely. However urging outrage at a cartoon is disingenuous.

Correct a trifecta. I kept chuckling when I heard about the light brights and the absurd overreaction.
The press conference was amusing a bit stupid, but no one is obligated to take the press seriously.

If they acted like that in court it would be contempt. But the press may want to be the authorities but are not and they were skewered.

Mockery and parody are weapons angainst the absurd.

Compared to LGF, Freepers did get the joke. It restored my faith in Free republic.

We can't assume everything is a threat or our nation will just stop. If you allow the terrorists get you in such a trivet, then they have won. Reasonable people in all other cities did not over react. Just the Boston authorities.

I have to wonder after the police examined one and figured it was a light bright why they continued to shut down the city . Did the police decided to stick to the city or administration for some reason?

Your state is definitely skittish and that is not a compliment. After all the city that was attacked(NYC) had plenty of these marketing signs and they did not over react.

You guys had these for 10 days and in one day shut down the river and the city.
I may grant the first one the cops could be suspicious, But after they determine it was not a threat, why panic? There is something wrong when a group a people examine a LED light bright and keep treating it as a threat. I call that moronic.

The two guys did not shut down the city. it was the idiots who ran the city shut it down when it was easily determined not to be a threat.

I don't blame the motorists but the blame goes to your morons who can't ID a bomb and assume it was a bomb and then kept that assumption. The old statement is an ass of u and me certainly true of Boston.

So are cameras and other road signs and they all could have bombs. Stop living in fear. I do not like to give up my freedom because sheeple are afraid.

Bombs dont have lights.

It is that easy.

Even at that, the volume of explosives triggered by less than a 20th of a cubic foot would barely damage a building.

MANY LITEBRITES 9 CITIES 3 WEEKS.

See, I can post mindless things too. How come it took three weeks for anyone to panic about these things, when they were noticeable before? How come none of the other cities reacted this way?

Oh that's right, because the things were freaking LITEBRITES. You'd have to be a moron who has no idea what a bomb looks like to think that the giant picture in 224 looks remotely like a bomb.

From what I heard this morning. They were aware of the problem they created and were informed by someone in the agency not to reveal what they knew. That was several hours before Turner network fessed up.

Sure, they should have known better then to put boxes with batteries around town in this day and age. But, I'm convinced their home made "Lite-Brite" contraptions were not meant to freak anyone out intentionally.

So given that, I thought the way they handled the arrogant drive-by-media was great. Hilarious in fact! With a few exceptions, I’ll usually take the side of anyone who pisses off the Drive-By. I’ll have to remember that “pick a random subject” trick if I ever find myself besieged by the Drive-by’s with a lawyer telling me to not talk about a case…:) Hopefully that’ll never happen though!

(To the tune of ’99 red balloons’)

You and I in our little workshop
Making LED lights from the money we got
Hanging glowies before dawn
Til one by one, they're all done
Three weeks later, MBTA subway
Worker sees one, he goes "Oh hey,
Better call the bomb squad by
Cause ninety-nine Mooninites have arrived"

Ninety-nine Mooninites
Hanging from the overpass
With their middle fingers high
As if to say "Hub, kiss my ass"
Here's Ignignokt, that one's Err
But Boston does not know for sure
The Aqua Teens are advertised
By ninety-nine Mooninites in the sky

Ninety-nine cops on the scene
Can't believe what they've just seen
There's batteries and wires, too
And no one knows just what to do
They look explosive, clench your fists
They must be from terrorists!
We better blast them to the sky
Cause ninety-nine Mooninites must die

Ninety-nine white vans arrive
All with TV crews inside
Everyone's a news reporter
Everyone's a Chet or Nat
Breathlessly they cause a panic
Are these bombs or just Satanic?
Suddenly the bloggers cry
"Wait a minute, those are Mooninites!"

Ninety-nine lulz we have had
And all because of Pete and Sean
It's all over, but Menino's mumbling
Words like "hoax" to hide his bumbling
Folks are selling souvenirs
To commemorate our Day of Fear
And here is a Mooninite
I check eBay and make my bid...

In the dueling pressers I can't decide who was funnier: Mumbles Menino or the Dead End Kids.
