ANSWER Worried About Gathering of Eagles on March 17 in D.C.
Wednesday, February 14, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 02/14/2007 12:47:21 PM PST by kristinn

The commies at International ANSWER are scrambling to cover their rears after Vietnam veterans and Freepers announced they were going to defend the Wall from desecration at the ANSWER rally in Washington, D.C. on March 17.

ANSWER made the mistake of poking a sleeping giant with a hot poker by announcing they were going to hold their so-called antiwar rally on sacred ground:

The March 17 demonstration will assemble at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens) at 12 noon in Washington, D.C.and march to the Pentagon.

The response by veterans, military families and patriotic Americans has been ferocious. The Park Service has been deluged with phone calls complaining that the Wall was being abused by the left. The Park Service has made clear to everyone that the ANSWER rally will be held three hundred yards away from the Wall. There will be layers of snow fencing between Constitution Gardens and the Wall. Park Police will be out en masse and will not repeat the tolerance of the Capitol Police for desecration of out national monuments. (To be fair to the Capitol Police, their masters are 'Rats: Reid and Pelosi.)

ANSWER's boasting of holding a rally at the Wall has caused such a backlash that they have changed their announcement and have posted a disclaimer. Of course, they blame the D.C. Chapter (not by name, but we know, LOL!) for all the heat they're feeling. If they think it's hot now, just wait until March 17.

Here's ANSWER's, ahem, clarification titled Regarding the Vietnam Memorial:

Where we will Assemble on March 17

Tens of thousands of people will be gathering at Constitution Gardens at 12 noon near the Vietnam Memorial prior to the March on the Pentagon on Saturday, March 17. We will not be in the Vietnam Memorial and all speakers for amplified sound are turned away from the Memorial so as not to interfere with family members visiting the site. Constitution Gardens is the same location that ANSWER used for its mass anti-war rally on October 26, 2002. On March 17, 2007 we will leave Constitution Gardens and march on Constitution Ave. and then to Virginia on the way to the Pentagon.

The 58,000 U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam and the millions of Vietnamese who were killed, died in a criminal war. The connection between Vietnam and Iraq could not be more clear. Iraq is also a criminal war of aggression. The central issue today, just as it was in 1967, is to bring the war to an end.

Thousands of veterans and military families, including those who have lost loved ones in Iraq, will be in the front ranks of the March on the Pentagon. Some tiny pro-Bush groups who support the war in Iraq, and who normally mobilize about 25 people  to hold signs when massive antiwar protests take place, are now callously trying to manipulate Vietnam veterans by spreading rumors that the March on the Pentagon will defile the Vietnam Memorial. This lie should be treated with the same contempt that people have for the other lies promoted by Bush and his followers to justify an illegal war of aggression: Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction; Iraq was responsible for the September 11 attacks; and that the U.S. occupation would be greeted as an act of liberation by the Iraqi people.  Enough lies. Enough deceit!

Well, well, well.

Just a Nobody's March 17 Resource thread is here.

Gathering of Eagles website is here.

Gee, I thought we had about 40 Freepers and friends to withstand the "hundreds of thousands" of anti-war protestors back on Jan 27. (But who expects moonbats to be able to count?)

JUST IMAGINE THE EFFECT WE CAN HAVE WITH MORE PEOPLE ON MARCH17TH!

I have to admit that these people (ANSWER) give me the creeps. Their arguments are so illogical that they are dangerous. Our country could not survive with such lack of common sense. I am really irritated by their yard signs and idiocy. Where do these people get their money? Why cannot they see their suicidal philosphy? Remember the Shakers? Guess what? There are no Shakers today.

Reminds me of one of the first anti war protests in Tucson – uh, back in the day, I was still in hi school.

We took the day to go watch the hippies in downtown Tucson. Like a visit to the zoo, if you know what I mean. Not much of a protest, they walked around downtown waving signs and such. Later they would attack the draft board and burn things.

Then it happened.

A group of the protesters spotted the flag in Armory Park, someone in the crowd shouted – tear it down.

As the crowd surged toward the flagpole, a single man walked to the front of the pole.

He didn’t stand too straight, something seemed to be wrong with his legs. At any rate, he shouted at the group to stop.

The standard “ F* you, whatta you gonna do” catcalls started.

The man made a simple statement –

“First one you SOBs touch this flag and I’ll kill you where you stand – as God is my witness”

Things got quiet, then some loud mouth chimed in – “Ya, well there are more of us than you – so what”

The lonely man’s answer, pointing at the loudmouth –“You want to be the first to die?” He then pointed at several others :”YOU? YOU? YOU?”

Things got silent. Nobody doubted for an instant the man meant exactly what he said – he seemed to radiate some kind of deadly vibe – it scared the crap out of me and I was barely within a stones throw. I thought to myself, "Man any second this cat is going to rips out someone’s throat…."

The hippies started shuffling their feet and group broke up and left the park. Soon after, the single man left. I tried to get a name or something - the best I could do was that the guy was a Viet Vet, who lost one or both legs in 66 or 67 to a booby trap. Rumor had it the fellow was a Green Beret or a Marine, couldn’t pin it down.

Today, of course, he would be arrested for inciting a riot or making terrorist threats.

I remain convinced to this day, the first of that crowd to touch the flag pole would have died on the spot.

Lesson learn for me – there are no dangerous weapons – only dangerous people.

Peaceful protest does have a place, destruction of property does not not.

Brian Becker and his useful idiots.

Becker got his commie rocks off during the 2004 inaugural protest when he tricked the Bush Haters into "going commie". He asked for anyone from out of town to raise their hands and the did. He told them to keep them raised and then asked anyone from town to raise their hand.

So now EVERYBODY's got an arm in the air.

And Becker says, "And while you've got your arm in the air, make a fist." Which is a communist revolutionary symbol.

Like I said, useful idiots.

I think he and Mara the head LG commie just cuddled and smoked a cigarette after that.

Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction: They certainly did and they used them on many occasions.

Iraq was responsible for the September 11 attacks: The Bush Admin NEVER once said that. That lie was spread by you moonbats, especially that fat pizza eating moonbat, Michael Moore. It's a case of believing your own damn lies.

the U.S. occupation would be greeted as an act of liberation by the Iraqi people: It was. An ABC poll found that 61% of Iraqis are happy for the overthrow of the brutal Hussein regime.

Now excuse me, I need a good bath from just pretending to reply to these moonbats!

Why is ANSWER, with their self-proclaimed hundreds of thousands of marchers worried about 25 counter-protesters? They have gotten away with so much over the past five and-a-half years in DC:

*** "blanket-permitting" every public gathering place in downtown DC to shut out any dissenting opinion,

*** having (now) former DC Police Chief Ramsey lead their street marches,

*** peace rioters spray-painting the steps of the US Capitol (Jan 27, 2007),

*** burning US flags on the parade route during the 2005 Inauguration, and

*** breaking through 10-foot high riot fence to attack police officers (2005 Inauguration),

*** inciting their audience at one rally to take actions to deal with a "government spy" and "a cockroach" (me) as I photographed their public hate-America rally.

But this time, after years of molly-coddling by those in charge of the DC government and feeling so self-important, they went too far. In an attempt to draw open the old wounds of another era, they announced that their upcoming anti-America march would begin at the Vietnam Memorial.

OOPS!

American veterans from the Vietnam era, and before and after, said, "Like Hell you are!" and they began organizing a defensive response at The Wall and a counter-protest along their march route.

The Workers World Party secretariat screwed up big-time, and now they are worried.

Their opponents won't number only twenty-five this time. There are a helluva lot more people in the USA who have defended our country and served honorably, and who lost family members and buddies whose names are on the memorial that ANSWER wanted to use as a backdrop for their anti-America blood dance, than ANSWER ever could hope to have in their "membership."

And those American patriots will gather as one on March 17th at The Wall, and they will say, "Don't even think of trying to defile this memorial, you communist bastards!"

We have some exceptional news to report - read on for details...

As you already know, Move America Forward is about to launch a major advertising campaign to rally support for our troops in Iraq. We've told you for several weeks now that we were working to put together a grassroots component to support this effort - and now we have a major announcement to make.

We have learned that anti-war protestors have been desecrating war memorials and now in some isolated instances publicly denouncing/insulting returning Iraqi war veterans. On Saturday, March 17th, Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda and Ramsey Clark will lead a giant anti-war protest in Washington, D.C. - disgracing the war memorials there as they march to the Pentagon. A massive anti-war crowd is expected - March 17th is after all the 4th anniversary of the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Move America Forward [ http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org ] is proud to announce that we will be fighting back against all this negativity and disrespect towards our troops with a positive and patriotic national effort titled: "THESE COLORS DON'T RUN".

MAF will lead a national caravan of vehicles and supporters from California across the nation to Washington, D.C. Heading up the caravan will be Gold Star Parents who lost a child in the war on terrorism, Blue Star Parents who have a son/daughter serving in the war effort, or veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

We are putting out the word to all Americans to join us for this national show of support for our troops - and at each stop along the way conducting a patriotic pro-troop rally where we will be collecting American flags from rally participants.

We are putting out the call for children in schools to make homemade flags to be brought to these rallies. We are asking for those who are good at knitting or sewing to make homemade flags. We are asking families to bring a flag that has sentimental value or a patriotic story behind it to these rallies. Or simply buy a flag, bring it to the rally so we can add it to the collection of flags heading for the big Washington, D.C. event!

At each rally we will collect the flags and pack them in the trucks in our caravan and then bring them to Washington, D.C. where we will surround these war memorials in a giant sea of red, white and blue - and where we will conduct our final and largest pro-troop rally in Washington, D.C. - on March 17, 2006 - opposite the major anti war protest.

When the rally is completed we will send each flag donated to the effort to a unit serving in Iraq and Afghanistan with a placard explaining the story behind the national effort that brought this flag of support from the United States, overseas to our troops serving in the war on terrorism.

This will be one of the most ambitious efforts we have ever undertaken at Move America Forward. We will need your support for this positive, uplifting and patriotic event.

In the coming days we will be reaching out to coordinate our efforts and offer support to such fine organizations as Free Republic, Vets for Truth and the "Gathering of Eagles " project and participating veterans groups to make sure that there is a vibrant and patriotic effort from coast to coast.

We will be posting our planned route and stops at the Move America Forward website: http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org

Check your emails and the MAF website for more specifics on this national caravan and information on how you can join along in your own vehicle; we'll have additional information on our pro-troop rallies, and also helpful suggestions on how you can contribute a flag to this historic event.

Thank you as always for your support of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families - they need our backing now more than ever!

Fondly,

Melanie Morgan
Chairman, Move America Forward

P.S. Forward this message on to others to help spread the word about this patriotic effort!
