I doubt one would say Jesus, the Latin form of Yeshua.

RC myth, not in scripture. As was her supposed Immaculate Conception. Gee, thanks so much for that insight, GWB. And what college of theology did you graduate from? Nice way to insult all the Catholics on this board. How sweet.

Since the idea of such sinlessness and ascension by Mary was unknown in the uniform writings of the church fathers, there is no reason to believe it was any more than a myth, finally promulgated officially in the last hundred years. As was the doctrine of Mary as a co-redemptrix from sin by your last pope. But you can see how one builds from the other. It's quite transparent.

Likewise, Mary was assumed body and soul into Heaven. I never heard that one before. It's a Catholic thing. We're taught that Mary ascended into heaven.

Just tell them to keep digging and let us know when they find Mohammed's remains.

Wouldn't they just give their eyeteeth and their children to debunk Jesus Christ.

The quote you highlighted has another clue to the fraudulent nature ... 1 in 10 million based on 'genetics' but to what DNA someone could absolutely attribute to the lineage of Mary the Mother of Jesus? The fabrication assumes the ignorance of the audience, as all good scams do.

Yes Jesus ascended through his own power as God. Mary was assumed, not the same thing.

No we're not. We're taught that Mary was 'assumed" into heaven. Hence, Assumption Day.

We clean house on Friday after work and then go out for dinner; it's our "ancient theological tradition". I doubt that there is anything "theological" about Mary being taken away, bones and all, to heaven.

Well, thanks for pointing out the technicality... I knew someone would. I surely hope this won't become a "My Catholic knowledge is better than yours" thread.

Not what I meant, sorry. Previous poster had it wrong and tried to use it to disqualify Catholic teachings.
My bad, please accept my apologies.

You still have the opportunity to convert to the one, true religion, and correct your misapprehensions of Catholicism, assuming you have not died yet when you read this.

Assumption happened to at least a couple of OT folks, so it remains possible that Jesus in His love for His Mother would bring her up similarly ... He did 'go to Galilee to await the disciples' following His resurrection.
