I believe you need another trip to the doctor for more meds.
I've read UFO researchers since the early 70's, and its always been the same "in the last 6 months we have learned...."
Art Bell and his like are showmen, they exist to make you listen, they will tell you anything. We hit the 10 year anniversary of Heavens Gate this week, all because someone spoofed Art about the comet, and 28 loser cultists decided to kill themselves. Read the UFO stuff, its fun to read, but realize its 99% Bulls Hit!
Oh, POSTING IN CAPS MAKES YOU LOOK KOOKY!

Well, I married an alien. The government even gave her a little card that says...Resident Legal Alien, right on it.
They don't let her vote, though. :)

"The best information is that the flares were a deliberate effort to confuse the public and draw attention away from the authentic and huge UFO involved. "
Can you possibly understand how illogical and ridiculous that sounds? Let's break it down a little. The military knew in advance that a UFO would appear near Phoenix. That would imply we were in communication with the UFO. I'm not sure if you are familiar with that part of our country, but there are thousands of square miles from the Mexican border all the way to Canada of nearly unpopulated desolate territory. If you think we wanted the arrival of a UFO to remain secret, do you think we'd direct the thing to operate near one of the largest cities in our nation?
Now, if you want to assume we couldn't communicate with or control the UFO but knew it was going to appear near Phoenix, does it make any logical sense to launch what amount to fireworks near its position to "hide" its existence from the public?
I'll repeat what I said before...there are professional con artists who make a living off of stoking the flames of other's imaginations. Some con men are excellent, and some are down right pathetic. Whoever you are listening to, falls into the later category.

Air traffic controllers here in Chicago were frantic when NORAD scrambled jets to intercept a contrail that - pilots reported, "came out of the water" off the coast of Florida and traveled skyward NW towards Illinois. The jets couldn't keep up. NORD issued a statement that it would investigate...I haven't heard anything since. That was 2004, iirc.

That pic has been photoshoped. Rush would never shake with his left hand. It's pretty clear from that comment that you've never shaken hands with a space alien.

Good point.

You could have a UFO land in your back yard, film him, record him and they would lock you up as a flaming lunatic.
True statement.

More than 30 years ago. I don't think he saw the miles on a side big ships but I've never asked him. I think the mother ship sized craft back then were all flying disk shaped or else cigar shaped.

McGaha said he talked to an amateur astronomer who observed the A-10s and to the National Guard unit that flew them. "It was clearly aircraft in formation, flying at two different times and then dropping flares and it's clear to any rational person that's what it was," McGaha said Thursday. Easy to replicate, then. The Guard should fly the same training mission under similar circumstances and invite the public to watch.
The 1997 Phoenix lights are on video. It would be very easy to run a comparison.

Evidently your "logic" failed considerably to consider all the possibilities re the flares and UFO.
You could try again.

I saw a post heading today that defined them as "Illegal citizens." And another one last week in the paper as "undocumented entrants."

That doesn't even make any sense. There is no logic required to create fiction. And when a con artist creates an explanation that defies all definitions of logic, he creates a story that only the very gullible could choose to believe. Do you really believe there is logical viability to the explanation you've posted here?
