As for this idiotic kid, kick his butt... but jail seems a bit over the top. Unless they can prove he was making "terroristic threats"....
Funny thing, that's not even what they arrested him for.
Police arrested Max Karson on suspicion of interfering with staff, faculty or students of an educational institution.
Pretty far stretch there, IMO.

Of course it is. Why do you think Mork chose that place to start with?

Several witnesses told investigators the student said he was "angry about all kinds of things from the fluorescent light bulbs to the unpainted walls, and it made him angry enough to kill people,"The student's own words.
When you tell me you're angry enough about something to kill me, you better make sure that I know it's hyperbole.
Otherwise you may end up arrested, or worse.

Well what did he do? Did he threaten someone or was he being insensitive and scaring people. Dad may be right but he may also need to smack Jr. in the mouth. Maybe Junior really does identify with the shooter, has problems relating to others, is oversensitive to physical stimuli, etc. Maybe someone ought to be trying to help him.
Now, of course, he's heard that people think he might really start shooting people. I hope he doesn't decide to live up to their expectations.

Max Karson did the functional equivalent of:
1. Flying a plane in Japanese markings over Pearl Harbor at noon on December 7th 1941.
2. Wearing an SS uniform in Israel on Holocaust Memorial Day.
3. Carrying a box cutter into an airport in mid-September 2000.
The first amendment is subject to Time, Place, and Manner restrictions. Though instead of calling the police it would have been better to beat the living daylights out of the arrogant little $%&^#$**#^%$&&_)&$!$#@%#v !!!

The student, identified by police as Max Karson of Denver, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of interfering with staff, faculty or students of an education institution. It seems to me that anyone that says something a University doesn't like could be arrested under this statute. The 1st amendment took a hit on this one.

A person who engaged in bizarre and socially inappropriate behavior snapped and murdered 31 people two days ago.
This guy made a comment that indicates that he is not all there mentally and a comment which endorses the actions of the murderer.
Disturbing the peace is a crime and has been for centuries, long before hypersensitive self-styled "constitutionalists" decided that you can do whatever you want, wherever you want to whomever you want as long as you don't physically injure anyone.

Pretty broad interpretation of Disturbing the Peace, don’t ya think?
So we’re now gonna see the criminalization of any speech or behavior that frightens others or makes them feel uncomfortable, even absent any specific threat?
That makes me so angry I could.....

Meanwhile the real looney tunes are still wandering the streets of Colorado unimpeded.

they should have done what VTech did with Cho...give him an “A” and pass him along.
To: james500
His comments were in very poor taste, that’s for sure. I can see someone with a dark sense of humor going, “eh, yeah...sometimes I want to go on a rampage too.”
I think I would need to be there to comment on either way if the police should get involved

Instead of worrying about this kids First Amendment rights the father should be getting the kid some psychiatric help.
He might even talk to the doc himself.

Absolutely. As is yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.
How else do you tell everyone about the fire? A text message? :)

I understand, but you won't be able to lock him up for long. Throwing him jail does nothing but make him feel angry and persecuted. Is that what we want to do to people who state they get angry enough to kill?
