Alec Baldwin issued an apology on Friday for unleashing a volcanic tirade at his 11-year-old daughter and blamed "certain people" for leaking the rant to US media.
The Oscar-nominated star of "The Departed" branded daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" in a fiery voicemail message that emerged on celebrity websites on Thursday.
It is the latest twist to the bitter legal wrangling between Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger over custody and visitation rights relating to Ireland. The couple split in 2001.
Baldwin's tirade was apparently triggered by Ireland's failure to switch her mobile phone on for a scheduled call with her father.
"Once again I've made an ass out of myself trying to get to a phone at a specific time," Baldwin says in the message. "I'm tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time.

Baldwin wasn’t tricked into being recorded. He left
a message. How hard is this to figure out?

The man shouldn’t be raising a gopher much less a girl.
Courts, particularly those in the Ninth Circuit in California, have been leaning over backwards to make politically correct decisions to the point that common sense is totally out the window. Women whose husbands were discovered to have abused the daughter of a former wife get their lawyers to exclude that evidence from a trial about abusing the current daughter because of rules of evidence, not because of the child's best interest. A probable murderer of the child's mother like OJ Simpson is granted custody of his children.
Against such a backdrop, it is very difficult to get the court to recognize the deleterious effects of abusive behavior by a divorcing spouse, especially if the abuser is a man. Depending on the judge, the courts tend to view the mother as simply vindictive, rather than take away "rights" from an adult for the sake of the child. If there is a benefit of the doubt, it it given to the adult, not the child.
Perhaps the leaker in this situation felt that the court of public opinion was the child's last refuge. For all we know, the child's best friend's mother leaked the tape. I'm glad somebody wanted the abuse to be exposed, and hope it helps the girl more than it hurts her.

The concern here is for the child's poor soul. This loudmouth has used his celebrity to criticize many public figures. Who was looking out for his child? He didn't even know how old she is.

BASINGER 'BRAINWASHING' DAUGHTER WITH CHOCOLATE
Actress Kim Basinger is tempting her daughter away from her father by plying the youngster with chocolate, ex-husband Alex Baldwin has alleged in court.
The screen star pair are locked in a vicious custody battle over their 10-year-old daughter, Ireland, but Baldwin is convinced the blonde actress is employing underhand tactics to keep her.
He accuses Basinger in court papers of bribing Ireland with specially made chocolate bars boasting manipulative messages to her on their wrappers.
One example, which Baldwin has included in his legal suit as Exhibit C, reads: "To my daughter Ireland, who gave me the strength, courage and tenacity to stand up for myself ... Mom."
Baldwin claims, "The false message she continues to send our daughter is that she needs protection from her father."
The actor took his ex back into court last month after claiming she had violated a court-imposed custody order this summer. The case continues.

It ain’t hard to figure out, and I think it’s great that the daughter and/or mother just went ahead and put Baldwin’s jackassery out there in public for everybody to here.

It is one of those moments that creates profound regret for a parent. I used them to score laugh points for myself. I am ashamed of what I did...and it was no ones fault but my own. They have forgiven me and I have never done it again. But boy does it still hurt me.
The very fact that you realize your children’s hearts had value makes you a great parent. And they know that.
Fine, hold her accountable. Just keep the lunatic dad away from the kid until he gets the serious, professional help he needs. Whatever it takes. It’s not about them. It’s about what’s best for the child.
