You of course asked Shaun if you could give er a spin, eh?

I was rushing so hard from the ride, all I could say was "Thanks Shaun!", and shake his hand, just before I almost fell down upon exiting the car .........

Great pic and story! I don’t know what you had to do or to pay for that ride, but it sounds like it was more than worth it!

Yes it’s zipping right along, I hope the racing gets better. Nascar is losing fans right and left lately.

For those who used to watch INC.......

In the host chair sits the loneliest man in North America. Dave Despain has been universally blamed for “ruining” this show, hating NASCAR, and almost anything else that fans can think of. A veteran announcer in a true no-win situation, Despain once had WindTunnel on live every night and was the “Larry King” of SPEED. Then, management left racing and skewed to the hip-hop “NOPI” culture, the “reality” entertainment genre, and an endless string of poorly conceived NASCAR “theme” shows. WindTunnel was traded for Pinks, Unique Whips, and NASCAR Nation. Former all-star Despain was traded to Inside NEXTEL Cup. Roger Clemens had been sent to The Toledo Mud Hens.

Predictions For Darlington?

Amy: Jimmie Johnson.
Toni: Jeff Gordon.
Tom: Gordon in a romp.
Tommy: Tony Stewart.
Tony: I think RCR is showing strength at the CoT races, and Jeff Burton will return to his old self.
Matt T.: Believe it or not, I’m tempted to say Ryan Newman. But not that tempted…Jeff Gordon.
Vito: Jeff Gordon. Darlington will make a ton of money on recyclables that breach the fence afterwards once that happens. I like that Ryan Newman pick though. I almost was going to pick him.
Tommy: Gordon’s a good bet though. That guy can flat out drive that track!
Vito: Well, I’m picking Gordon based on his past success and the inability of anyone to pass a Hendrick car on a CoT track yet.
Tommy: If Newman isn’ t out front…what’s the line on him wrecking Montoya?
Tony: 2-1.
Matt T.: 7-2.
Vito: Maybe Juan Pablo will return the favor.
Tom: Honestly, Juan Pablo may just wreck on his own. Remember, this is the track Too Tough To Tame…and with the CoT being “hard to drive,” I’m sure we’ll see a usual share of wrecks.
Matt T.: Speaking of which, my Derby pick came in DEAD LAST.
Vito: If I had a Kentucky Derby horse, I would name him Elmer.
Matt T.: I’d name him Stud.
Amy: Elmer Stud?
Vito: Nah, Elmer’s Glue Factory. Quarter horse… 3/4 dog food, 1/4 glue.
Tom: Ahhh…the Horse of Tomorrow.

Soooooooo anyone wanting to pick up places FRFL pick someone other than Jeff. [if you dare] :)

Dale Jr. & Truex to JR Motorsports? Dave Moody reported on Wednesday afternoon’s Sirius Speedway that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will announce tomorrow at JR Motorsports, that both he and #1-Martin Truex, Jr. will drive in the Nextel Cup Series for JR Motorsports in 2008. Hendrick Motorsports will provide engines for the team. A press conference is reportedly planned for 9:30am/et at JR Motorsports headquarters.

Rumor or fact.....it’s flying hot and heavy now. Hang on to your hats [your 8 hats]

3 laps at Talladega is 125 $ plus tax ..... it was 133$. And, yes, worth every penny! Here's the link to the Petty Experience.

Report: Junior to drive for JR Motorsports in 2008
By NASCAR.COM
May 9, 2007
06:42 PM EDT

Members of the media have been invited to a Thursday morning news conference at the JR Motorsports race shop in Mooresville, N.C. However, details of the conference were not provided, lending speculation that it may involve his contract negotiations with Dale Earnhardt Inc.

Dave Moody reported Wednesday afternoon on Sirius Speedway that speculation is Junior and Martin Truex Jr. will drive Nextel Cup cars under the JR Motorsports banner in 2008 with Hendrick Motorsports providing engines.

SPEED will interrupt regularly scheduled programming to go live from the JR Motorsports race shop at 11 a.m. ET for the news conference.

Well this has been going on under the radar for three hours now and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion that Teresa does NOT own the #’s 1 and 8. NASCAR has the ability to do whatever they want with any number. Childress doesn’t own the 3 either, he just reapplies to keep use of the # every year. So truthfully after the year is done, DEI and dale Jr could both go to NASCAR and say they want the 8 and/or 1... and it would be up to NASCAR as to who gets it. Not a sure thing but the best we could come up with. I guess he could also buy it like Mikey did earlier this year.

And Jayski has this.,. Who owns the Nextel Cup car numbers? NASCAR owns and assigns car numbers to an owner(s). NASCAR reserves the right to revoke or transfer car numbers to another owner/team at any time. Car numbers are non-assignable and non-transferable, except by NASCAR. NASCAR works with teams and sponsors when a specific number is requested. If duplication of numbers occur, which usually happens with the part-time teams, the fastest qualifier usually gets to use the number unless one team is considered full-time. In 2002, the #27 was used by Scott Wimmer for Bill Davis Racing and by Kirk Shelmerdine, both part time, however, Wimmer was listed in the #27 and Shelmerdine in the #`172 and when they attempted the same races, Wimmer got to use the #27 and Shelmerdine ran the #72, so NASCAR uses it's judgement in deciding who runs the number.(9-6-1999/9-17/2003)

Earnhardt Jr. leaving DEI

By Jerry Bonkowski, Yahoo! Sports
May 9, 2007

Dale Earnhardt Jr. officially will say goodbye to Dale Earnhardt Inc. on Thursday morning, Yahoo! Sports has learned.

A highly placed source within DEI as well as additional sources familiar with the situation told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday afternoon that both Junior and teammate Martin Truex Jr. will announce Thursday morning that they are leaving the DEI camp at the end of this season and will drive for Earnhardt’s heretofore Busch Series operation, JR Motorsports.

Sirius Radio also reported late Wednesday afternoon that the Earnhardt/Truex split with DEI was a done deal and that the new Cup team entry will field Chevrolet chassis built by Hendrick Motorsports and will use Hendrick engines as well.

Sources tell Yahoo! Sports that Earnhardt Jr.’s primary sponsor, Budweiser, will follow Junior to JR Motorsports. Budweiser’s contract with DEI is due to expire at the end of 2008, but Yahoo! Sports sources believe there are provisions within the contract for an early exit if Earnhardt Jr. does not drive the No. 8 Chevrolet for DEI.

The press conference, which is expected to be televised nationally, will take place at JR Motorsports headquarters in Mooresville, N.C., at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday.

There has been no comment thus far from either DEI president Teresa Earnhardt (Dale Jr.’s stepmother) or company director of global operations Max Siegel.

That's not necessarily true. Owners have more say so in that than does NASCAR. If you remember, just last year, Sterling got the rights to the #14 from a previous owner. NASCAR has no say so in the #3....Childress does. Same when Bill got #9 back when he went to Evernham.

When you really look at this, NASCAR basically agrees to whatever certain owners agree to do with the numbers. If one owner agrees to let another have a number, even if he has registered for it, NASCAR won’t say no. That was basically what I meant in my last post.

Okay, so let’s say I’m comfy with the Truex and Jr thing. What do you suppose Teresa’s up to with her team? Where’s the rumor mill on that?

Oh, and BTW, thanks for the updates! I love these threads.

So...Teresa is going to sully the DEI legacy?
I never did like her.
If she were smart, she’d just give it all to Jr.
She’s worth a billion$ or so anyway.
