We Are All in It Together, Clinton Says [Shared Prosperity Should Replace "On Your Own' Society"]

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.

"There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed," she said. "Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

Clinton spoke at the Manchester School of Technology, which trains high school students for careers in the construction, automotive, graphic arts and other industries. The school highlighted one of the nine goals she outlined: increasing support for alternative schools and community colleges.

"We have sent a message to our young people that if you don't go to college ... that you're thought less of in America. We have to stop this," she said. "Our country cannot run without the people who have the skills that are taught in this school."

Beyond education, Clinton said she would reduce special breaks for corporations, eliminate tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas and open up CEO pay to greater public scrutiny.

Clinton also said she would help people save more money by expanding and simplifying the earned income tax credit; create new jobs by pursuing energy independence; and ensure that every American has affordable health insurance.

Ms. Clinton, in plain english, is merely repeating her determination to raise taxes, buy votes, and model the USA after the old USSR dream (but Cuba will also do).

That means pairing growth with fairness,

Anywhere I see the word "Fairness" put forth in a public context, I always think of P.J. O'Rourke's Famous Quote: ".......Fairness is probably a good thing in marriage---And at the day-care center. It’s a nice little domestic virtue. But a liking for fairness is not that noble a sentiment. Fairness doesn’t rank with charity, love, duty Or self sacrifice. And there is always a tinge of self-seeking In making sure that things are fair. 'Don’t you go trying to get one up on me' "

As for us, how to resist. Right now jam the lines. Next? I have a hard time with street protests. It seems like such a 'leftist' tactic, though it does build coalitions and gets people fired up. Occassionaly Conservatives hit on a brilliant play that illuminates things.

Fine you have a hard time with street protests, most of us do. But, if that is what is called upon me to do...I will proudly do it to save my Country! The other thing is we have to get people to think or de-program. I agree there are similarities and differences between Venezuela and the US, but the deception is similiar, the efforts the same. We, the people, have permitted a whole generation to be indoctrinated into this type of thinking. WE have essentially for 40 years+ felt that the American ideals would trump the most insidious socialists. Well, guess what, they are running for president...and have a legitimate chance of being elected.

We're in deep trouble when people like this can say the things that Hillary has said and they go unchallenged. Worse, they get supported!

"Many of you are well enough off that tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to have to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

"I mean, you've got a conservative and right-wing press presence with really nothing on the other end of the political spectrum."

"We are at a stage in history in which remolding society is one of the great challenges facing all of us in the West."

"We just can't trust the American people to make those types of choices.... Government has to make those choices for people"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1PfE9K8j0g And they are actively looking to silence the conservative voice! Our situation is much more deadly to freedom, because it is so insidious.

So you want facts? Let's review on last time. How about these?

FACT: The stock market is at an all time high (including IRA's and 401k's)!

FACT: Unemployment is at incredibly LOW HISTORICAL LEVEL (lower than the Clinton years)!

FACT: Interest rates are at historical lows for the last 30 years.

FACT: Inflation is NOT a problem (most economists say 2% is the perfect level).

FACT: Home ownership is at an ALL TIME HIGH!!

I'll stick with the FACTS--YOU stick with your skewed perceptions.

She is exactly the right choice.

She is the epitome of why the average person thinks the lavish lifestyles of the wealthy are unearned. You can say anything you like about what a poor role model she is, or what an airhead she appears, and it just proves that point.

The average person is quick to think she must be spending somebody else’s money, and the MSM panders to that image, but it just isn’t true. She is spending her own money. Earned from foolish people just like some star athlete, actor, fashion designer, artist, or anybody else that is paid large sums of money by foolish people.

If you were a Communist charged with creating discontent and class envy in America’s poor and middle classes, Paris Hilton would be your favorite poster child.

> Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a

Her collectivist vision is my worst nightmare. I would be better off in Brazil, where we can still worship Christ freely.

> saying it’s time to replace an “on your own” society with
> one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

Spoken like a true Marxist, and without shame.

Basically it means, you get to live a lowest common denominator lifestyle while the party elite live large.

> The Democratic senator

She is NOT Democratic. She is Democrat. BIG difference.

> said what the Bush administration touts as an “ownership
> society” really is an “on your own” society

What am I missing here? “On your own” is what made this country GREAT! You don’t have to look far to see what happens to countries that implement a Marxist vision.

Like Cuba.

> that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

The class card.

I don’t see the Klintons giving any of their money away.

> “I prefer a ‘we’re all in it together’ society,”

This from a leader of what is probably the most divisive political party in American history.

“We’re all in it together” means that she will force you at gunpoint to share the fruits of your labor with the ne’er do well bum down the street while she and her family continue to live large.

> “I believe our government can once again work for all
> Americans.

Read your Constitution HAG. The federal government was never meant to be a Nanny.

> It can promote the great American tradition of
> opportunity for all and special privileges for none.”

Unabashed Marxist appeal to the thief in everyone.

Are there really any grownups left that still believe this stuff?

> That means pairing growth with fairness

Yes, all Marxists hide their totalitarian collectivist goals behind making things “fair”.

Maybe somebody should tell this economics maven that Growth IS fairness! That’s why my parents came to America! They knew all about a government-imposed “fairness”. They came here to GET AWAY from that!

> she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the
> global economy, not just corporate CEOs.

Just in case she hasn’t been paying attention, unless the corporations and their CEOs succeed, there’s NO CHANCE that the “middle class” can succeed, or even exist!

> “There is no greater force for economic growth than free
> markets.

Astonishing statement from a committed collectivist. There has to be a catch somewhere else ...

> But markets work best with rules that promote
> our values, protect our workers and give all people a
> chance to succeed,” she said.

I just KNEW there’d be a catch.

Look. My parents came from a hardscrabble catch-as-catch can survival-of-the-fittest struggle they call “life” in other parts of the world. They worked hard, lived the American dream, and in one generation were able to send their children to American colleges.

There is no better chance to succeed than the economy we have right now. Tampering with that to implement some Marxist dystopian ideal of “fairness” is an invitation to DISASTER.

But then again, disaster might be what she wants.

For you and me, anyway, certainly not for her.

> “Fairness doesn’t just happen. It requires the right
> government policies.”

Oh please.

Just have a look at what “diversity” and the “war on poverty” have done for “fairness”. We’ve spent TRILLIONS of dollars only to see things become orders of magnitude worse now than they were before these “government policies” were implemented.

> Clinton spoke at the Manchester School of Technology,

I live in New Hampshire. These students were probably ramped off that they had to sit and listen to this socialist cow tell them how she was going to take their hard-earned money and give it to the drunken bum next door, while they could have been out apprenticing for real money.

> “We have sent a message to our young people that if you

Ted Knight said pretty much the same thing in “Caddy Shack” when he said, “The world needs ditch diggers, too.”
