Nice try. Even if they did sit out, it wouldn't’t be a problem if we had a President who would veto it. Yeah, keep blaming the Conservatives.

NO AMNESTY!!
For the ILLEGALS?
For Carter? or,....
For Bush?

We’ll split the difference.
All three!

But certainly a Republican president would *never* sign into law a bill that a Republican House would have never passed, right italian?

"Personally, I believe this “bill” was merely a show, produced for the benefit of all parties to make it appear as if they are really trying to do something"

Probably true. Just shifting the attention from what is already happening and will continue to happen regardless of the outcome. After it fails, the people will breathe a sigh of great relief and say, 'We did it! We did it! We told them to shove it and they did! Haha. We showed them that the people still rule this country.'

(Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . .)

This same bill, with a few changes came up last fall. It also had the Senate built-in revenue introductions. It failed then , the same “blue slip” procedure was brought up.

I wonder how many conservatives against this bill and amnesty they had to help dump in the 2006 elections to try and run this through again?

Could it really be that was why conservatives had such an awful time in the 2006 elections? RINOs had full party support and funding, while at the same time, the RINO policies were also the reasons so many lost.

What a big freaking scam.

"good job to all that stood home and didnt vote"

I get so sick of seeing this disinformation repeated. Conservatives turned out as they always have in '06. The problem is that independents went against the GOP and the dems had the intensity. I'm beginning to believe that people who continue to propagate the "teach us a lesson" and "republicans who stayed home" tripe are in some kind of denial about the election results. They think the republicans couldn't have possibly lost because they just sucked that bad for a year or so before the election, it has to be the conservatives fault! lol

In South Carolina, agricultural-industry groups ran print ads supporting Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican from that state who is backing the bill. "Thank you...for being a statesman -- not a politician," the ads said.

Maybe you are right but I do remember all the posts about teaching the Gop a lesson and I am starting to see it again, the primary is for that

"What a big freaking scam."

You hit the nail right on the head. The entire thing is a smoke and mirrors game, to baffle the sheeple into thinking the Congress and the President are actually working for us.

They’re saying it is the back taxes provision that violates the revenue restrictions in the Constitution, but it seems to me that the FINES that illegals would have to pay are ALSO revenue.

So, even if the Senate pulls the back taxes provision, it could still be blue slip it.

The bill will have to take on a House version in order to pass with revenue references. If they strip out the revenue portions, it becomes a PURE AMNESTY bill.

Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson, one of the negotiators, said about two-thirds of the people from his home state of Georgia who have contacted him are supportive or have misconceptions about the bill that can be cleared up

This statment is BS. The 2/3 he is talking about are mainly people opposed to the bill. The ones who "have misconceptions" and can be lied to in order to clear up the "misconceptions", or so he hopes. He is lumping the people who support the bill with ones who don't and trying to make it a majority for the bill. Politicians are such sleaze bags.

Interesting twist! I’m glad they are looking at every possible means of killing this. But until it is officially dead, and then bloodied a little bit more, I think everyone should keep the heat on. These sleazebags seem to keep finding ways to subvert the will of U.S. citizens. I don’t trust them.

That conservatives-stayed-home-and-didn't-vote-and-lost-us-the-elections canard is total BS. The people that fed you that lie are the sames ones who are now telling you that this amnesty bill isn't amnesty.
