Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer have big plans to rein in conservative radio talk shows, according to Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.

He said Thursday on John Ziegler's evening radio show on KFI in L.A. that he overheard Clinton, D-N.Y., and Boxer, D-Calif., saying they want legislation to control conservative radio talk shows.

It has never been a secret that the left hates the freedoms of speech and press and have always sought control it.

Liberals, or should I say socialists, like freedom of speech and free press as long as it agrees with them.

We are the last true free country in the world - lets keep it that way!

What else is new? They don’t like the way the constitution is written and would change it to suit them in a heartbeat.

The Constitution is the only thing that has kept this country as a Republic and protected it from these socialist repressive tyrants who only lust for power, and could care less about the core values and liberties of this country.

What’s really sad is how many so-called Republicans are behind this, too (as with illegal immigration and other unhealthy things for our country). Trent Lott, Lindsay Graham, they’re all rotten to the core and trying to shut down any opposition to their plans.

Worse, some so-called conservative internet “discussion” sites are doing the same. On one unnamed board, they’ve gone so far as to herd all the immigration topics into one thread (and only one thread allowed per week), so as to shut down debate and make it harder to find news on the topic.

The dark side is certainly working overtime to destroy our country, and they don’t want anyone squawking about it.

People are already in the streets. They’re called “commuters”, and as much as I could wish otherwise, that is the only way people who DON’T hate this country will ever take to the streets.

These people would not have any power if they didn’t supress everything that smacked of free speech.

I don’t think that is an “apples to apples” analysis. No one is killed by listening or not listening to talk radio.

There is lots of talk radio I don’t listen to, even though the shows agree with many of my opinions. On the other hand, I do try to force myself to listen to opposing views, if for no other reasons than to keep an eye on the libs, to be entertained by their poor reasoning skills and to learn the best arguments they can present on issues.

Talk radio isn't the ONLY thing Babs likes to "squash."

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And if Hillary had done a little more squashing, the whole Monica thing might never have happened.

You are so right -- it is scarey too. I cannot believe the Bushbots are still pushing this Administration with this Immigration bill being so bad. I am just so happy that Sen Inhofe is standing up and hope that Dr. Coburn is recovered enough from surgery and can be there for the vote.

I cannot understand shuttind down free speech on what is billed conservative sites. Might as well say they are a Bush cheerleading site and give a warning before you join.

OTOH, it might be a ploy, not to DISCOURAGE Conservative Talk Radio, but to actually ENCOURAGE it.

Reasoning:

“We are entitled to EQAUL TIME”

“Sponsors aren’t sponsoring us”

“Therefore: GOVERNMENT FUNDING of Liberal Talk Radio is necessary to close the ‘gap’”

“The more they yak & yammer at each other, making money, the more we can tax them, meaning the more ‘free’ money we get to appropriate to ‘get out our message’!”

“...who only lust for power ...”

and money. Which is the reason why they launched a two-year campaign. That way, they aren’t stifled by the “per annum” limitations of money coming into their coffers from individual sources.

It’s all about the money.

It’s the love of money that’s the beginning of evil. And politicos love money as much as they love power.

If this goes through, it will kill terrestrial radio. All the Conservative hosts will go to satelliate and the left will still be bitching and moaning about the “unfairness” of it.

If they thought they heard from the American people over the immigration (and still are) just wait till they try to pull something like this.

I don’t expect any relief from the Supreme Court, not after the Kelo decision.

Interesting point later about the practical application of this would be government funded left-leaning radio.

I suspect the real outcome will be that government will determine what is biased programming. Those “sensors” would simply say, in the short and medium terms, that “establishment media” content (CNN, ABC, NYT, NPR etc.) is non-biased. They could rely on international standards to reach this conclusion, not unlike the Supreme Court started doing about 3 years ago.

In the longer term, this would eventually have the effect of permitting government to determine content.

To me, it would all be a question of who was deciding what was biased.
